Game Notes
To put it bluntly, Maryland isn't good. Their offense isn't great, but their defense is the biggest issue, allowing almost 500 yards a game, among the worst in the FBS. That'll be a problem, since their only hope to stay close is to make the Hoosiers one dimensional as Purdue did. IU can't relax too much, but so long as they show up to the stadium on gameday, they should win without serious difficulty.
Prediction: Indiana 48, Maryland 17

Re: Never Daunted: An Indiana Hoosiers Dynasty (NCAA 14)
Hoosiers hold off Maryland
College Park, MD- It wasn’t the prettiest win, but it was just that. A win.
Indiana entered Saturday’s game coming off of a pair of overtime wins. The Hoosiers began their three game roadtrip against the struggling Maryland Terrapins, who were hungry for their first Big Ten win of the season.
After a field goal put the Hoosiers out in front to start the game, it was IU’s defense that would make the first big play of the day, intercepting a pass on Maryland’s first offensive play of the afternoon. IU would only be able to add on another field goal, however, going up 6-0 in the first quarter. Daryl Chestnut would later score a touchdown from a yard out, putting Indiana up 13-0.
Maryland would control the second and third quarters, both on the offensive and defensive end. The Terps would limit the Hoosier passing game to just 64 yards on 5 completions. Maryland’s passing game, on the other hand, would catch fire, and Maryland would score two unanswered touchdowns, taking a 14-13 lead into the final quarter.
Laray Smith would put the Hoosiers up for good midway through the fourth, running in a one yard touchdown. The 2-point conversion would make it 21-14. Maryland would turn the ball over on downs on their next possession, and IU would tack on a Lewis Richardson field goal, making the final score 24-14 in favor of Indiana.
“We didn’t have a good mentality today,” said IU’s coach Pate. “We didn’t have an answer for their passing game… They flat outplayed us in the second and third quarters.
“We should have played better. We need to play better.”
Daryl Chestnut was the highlight player for the Hoosiers once again, strengthening his Heisman résumé by rushing for 187 yards on 30 carries, including one for 60 yards, and a touchdown. IU quarterback Jon Manning went a modest 5 of 13 passing for 64 yards, no touchdowns, and an interception. Lewis Richardson also had an impressive game, making all three field goals he attempted and his lone extra-point try.
Things don’t get any easier for the Hoosiers, as they enter the gauntlet final games of the year. IU will now travel to Michigan, who was ranked number one in the nation before losing back-to-back games.
Kickoff is set for 6 PM at the Big House.

Maryland definitely was tougher than I was expecting. Gonna chalk this one up to over confidence. Need to play much better in these last few games.

He's having a great year for sure. I've definitely built the offense around him. He's a senior, so it's gonna be tough seeing him leave after this season.

Game Notes
These two teams have had their share of struggles lately. IU hasn't been able to find its offensive rhythm since the Purdue game. They've won all three games since, but 2 came in overtime and one against a lowly Maryland by 10. Michigan has also struggled of late. The Wolverines were at the top of the national polls just a few weeks ago, but have since lost three straight. Both of these teams are hungry for a solid win. Will Indiana be able to finally find the offensive explosion they're used to, or will Michigan Stadium be too much for the Hoosiers to handle?
Prediction: Indiana 13, Michigan 10
