GIANTS ANNOUNCE ROSTER MOVES AHEAD OF OPENER



SECOND-YEAR KICKER MURRAY FILLS GIANTS KICKER VACANCY

East Rutherford, NJ -- The New York Giants announced a series of roster moves ahead of this week's opener at the Detroit Lions on Monday Night Football.

The Giants cut more players than required to trim their roster down to the mandatory 53 player limit. Kicker Patrick Murray is the first new Giant on the roster, as the second-year man out of Fordham signed a one-year deal worth $490K. He replaces the incumbent Josh Brown, who was cut after New York's final pre-season game; a loss at home to the New England Patriots.

The second new addition is defensive tackle Marvin Austin, who signed a one-year deal with Big Blue worth $640K.

Finally, the Giants have picked up fullback Will Tukuafu to cover for the injured Henry Hynoski, who is set to miss the first five games of the season due to a torn bicep. The former Seahawk signs a deal worth $730K.

Fools Gold - Everyone questions the validity of preseason wins and losses, but the Bengals hope it's a sign of things to come after finishing up the preseason with a perfect record.

Mr. August - It's clear that the Eagles have been taking preseason seriously as they beat the Jets to finish up the preseason 4-0.

Baby Steps - The Vikings finished up the preseason 4-0, but they won't get to keep those wins once the regular season starts next week.
