Tough loss to the Colts, and Posluszny is an even tougher loss. At least it's only 3 weeks, though... at least Bortles played well for you, though.

Definitely a tough one to stomach and the fact that it came at the end of the game really makes me sick. Like you said we are already leaning so heavily on our defense, we really cannot afford to lose anyone let alone our anchor in the center. Hopefully our run defense will still be able to hold up. Thanks for following!

A tough stretch of events for us and the way the schedule is looking, it definitely is not going to get any easier. I was happy with Bortles performance. Not bad at all for a his first ever NFL start and I expect he will only continue to grow. Thanks for checking in!

Dan Marino: I like Jacksonville on the road. Even without Posluszny, I think their defense is more than capable of slowing down the struggling Chargers.
Boomer Esiason: Dan, are you kidding me? The Jaguars defense just got shredded by Matt Hasselbeck! Phillip Rivers is way better than Hasselbeck.
Bill Cowher: The Chargers defense only has two sacks on the season. Bortles will have plenty of time to work while Rivers will spend this game on his back.
Shannon Sharpe: I don’t care how many sacks the Chargers have. That Jacksonville o-line is bad. I think the Chargers take care of this one at home.
James Brown: Not exactly the game of the week here, but certainly should be a close one. I think the Chargers edge it out by a single score.

Love the picks in your previews. Dont think I've ever seen JB pick a game though.

Tough blow losing Posluszny, but hopefully your defense can hold up against the winless Chargers!

Ouch Posluszny will be a big loss, especially against the run. Bortles did well in his first game but he needs to look downfield more, use that stupidly strong arm of his.

Thanks! I thought it would be a nice touch to add to the game previews. Good point on JB, but I liked having him in with the group so a little stretch of the imagination I suppose. Hope you continue to enjoy!

Thanks for following along Loopka! Definitely a tough loss to stomach with Posluszny although when I saw it was a shoulder tear, I was worried the injury would be even longer. The Chargers look to be one of the few winnable games on our schedule so I would really like to come out with a good showing against them. Fingers crossed!

Thanks for checking in Letails! Always happy to hear from you. Losing Posluszny really hurts. He is the heart and leader of our defense, so we will need someone else to step up.

I would definitely like to stretch the field more with Bortles but we just don't have the playmakers on offense (outside of Blackmon) to get good separation down the field. Something I need to address in the coming offseason. Thanks for following!

Year 1 (2014), Week 4, Jacksonville at San Diego

Jacksonville HB Storm Johnson plows over a defender and in for the score / WR Justin Blackmon catches a touchdown in the second half

"Storm'ed Over": Rookie Tailback Leads Jacksonville to 27-24 Road Win

HB Johnson has career day running for 180+ yards | Bortles continues to play 'safe' football | Slot WR Eddie Royal runs wild on Jaguars defense

AP San Diego – The Jacksonville Jaguars got their second win of the season as they downed the winless San Diego Chargers on the road 27-24. The Jaguars were lead by rookie HB Storm Johnson, who had an incredible day on the ground. The rookie, from Central Florida, ran for over 180 yards and a score on 33 carries. He averaged over five yards per carry. For San Diego, backup QB Kellen Clemens had to play the majority of the game after Rivers left with an abdominal strain early in the first quarter. Rivers would return midway through the fourth quarter. Clemens played perfectly in relief, hooking up frequently with slot WR Eddie Royal. Royal had a huge day in the air leading the Chargers in catches, while accumulating over 180 yards receiving and a touchdown.

MLB J.T. Thomas, who is filling in for the injured Posluszny, forced a big fumble in the second quarter that was returned for a touchdown.

QB Blake Bortles made his second NFL start and executed an efficient game plan, leading the offense on several scoring drives. He threw his second NFL touchdown on a post pattern late in the third quarter to WR Justin Blackmon.

The Chargers struggled to get anything going on the ground for the second week in a row as HB Danny Woodhead continues to fill in for injured HB Ryan Matthews. Woodhead averaged just three yards per carry in the game. He lost a fumble that was returned for a touchdown by S Sherrod Martin in the second quarter.

"I was really happy with our ground game in this one. We were able to control the trenches on both sides of the ball today and it allowed us to really set the tempo of the game. Johnson showed some good strong running and confirmed our faith in him as our starting tailback." -- Jaguars Owner Dan Clayton

The Jaguars will head back to Jacksonville next week for a tough AFC showdown with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers are currently 4-0 on the season.
