Game Notes
The 2013 Sunflower Showdown is the 111th meeting between Kansas and Kansas State. Kansas currently leads the series 64-41-5, but Kansas State has won the past four meetings between the two teams. The game is a must-win for Kansas if they hope to go bowling this season, while Kansas State is at 7-4. They were ranked as high as eighth in the polls earlier in the season, but a string of losses knocked them out of the polls. Kansas has no injuries, while Kansas State will be without junior cornerback Randall Evans and senior wide receiver Tremaine Thompson, both out due to foot fractures. Left guard Boston Stiverson is questionable with a quadricep injury.

But as time went on, I became better at explaining how the game unfolded. I've also added in a few things that I thought of, like the Series Hall of Fame and Greatest Games (this obviously isn't completely original), as well as the at-times witty titles.
sorry for a bit of a late reply but thanks! keep it up bro

Re: Kansas Jayhawks Dynasty (NCAA 14)

Collapse

A late-game collapse by Kansas ends their season with a 45-27 loss to rivals Kansas State.

In the first three quarters of the 2013 Sunflower Showdown, Kansas played really well. They had led by as much as seven points several times, and they were only down by 4 heading into the final quarter. However, the final quarter saw a complete collapse by Kansas, allowing Kansas State to score three touchdowns and comfortably win the game, 45-27.

It was yet another disappointing day for Kansas's run game, with senior halfback James Sims only running for 49 yards on 12 carries, a poor performance on his last college game. He also ran for a touchdown, Kansas's last score on the season.

Despite the poor running game, quarterback Jake Heaps had a fantastic day. He completed 23 of his 32 passes (71 percent) and also threw for 268 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.

Kansas State, mostly known for being a run-first team, showed it by running for a total of 253 yards on the ground. Quarterback Daniel Sams ran for 116 yards on 14 carries, as well as two touchdowns while running back John Hubert ran for 64 yards on 18 carries. Backup Robert Rose also enjoyed success, racking up 60 yards and a touchdown.

Kansas started off the game on the wrong foot, turning over the ball on the first play of the game via a Darrian Miller fumble. K-State would capitalize, scoring a touchdown to take an early 7-0 lead, but Kansas would respond with two touchdown passes to take a 14-7 lead going into the second quarter. Kansas thought that they had taken a two-score lead when Jake Love returned a fumble 54 yards, but the play was reviewed and overturned to give the Wildcats the ball back, causing a big momentum swing in the game. The Wildcats would kick a field goal on that possession to make it 14-10. The Jayhawks would counter with a field goal of their own, but a late drive by K-State tied the game up at 17 with less than 10 seconds in the half.

Kansas got a field goal in the middle of the third to take a 20-17 lead, but Kansas State would 1-Up that with a touchdown late in the third to take a 24-20 lead. In the fourth, they would score again after a failed Kansas possession to take a 31-20 lead. Kansas would drive down the field, but their efforts would be completely negated as Jake Heaps was sacked, lost the football, and K-State would turn it into a scoop-and-score to take a commanding 38-20 lead. They would score again three minutes later, this time on a long 51 yard Robert Rose run, to make it 45-20. Kansas would finally score with a minute left, but it was too late, and K-State walked away victorious, 45-27.

Kansas ends the season at 5-7 (2-7), and will have to miss bowl season for the fifth straight year.

Johnny Manziel Wins Heisman Again

Last night, five college athletes stood in the Best Buy Theater at Times Square for the awarding of the Heisman Trophy. They were Jordan Lynch, Duke Johnson Jr., Johnny Manziel, Derek Carr, and Taylor Martinez. Johnny Manziel would end up being awarded the trophy, making him on the second person to be awarded the trophy on two occasions (Ohio State HB Archie Griffin was awarded the Heisman Trophy in 1974 and 1975). Manziel received 1757 points (395 1st, 229 2nd, 114 3rd), while Duke Johnson Jr. came in second with 1055 (150 1st, 193 2nd, 219 3rd). Martinez was third with 977 points (135 1st, 178 2nd, 216 3rd), Lynch fourth with 497 (62 1st, 99 2nd, 113 3rd), and Carr fifth with 423 (43 1st, 86 2nd, 122 3rd).
