Good luck trying to contain Taysom Hill and Jamal Williams. They always tear me up when I play BYU. This looks really good so far.

Well, the good thing is I am an OC so that isn't my responsibility, however, if I want a shot at winning, we are gonna have to do that. Not looking forward to it, but I am hoping we pull off a miracle somehow. Thanks for checking in man, hope you enjoy!

(BYU QB Taysom Hill throws a pass)

Western Michigan fails to execute, BYU wins 37-24

Provo, UT: Football is a game where you must make the most out of every opportunity that you have if you wish to win the game at hand, and today the Western Michigan Bronco's did not do that. Coming into a tough environment like BYU, this is even more important. In any game you play, the team that has less turnovers will usually win, and this was also true today, as Western Michigan had five turnovers, all interceptions.

Yes, Western Michigan was outmatched in every aspect of the game, but when you have games that you feel you could have won, it hurts just as bad, and this is one of those games. Late in 3rd quarter, Western Michigan was driving down by 10, and was stopped on 3rd down and it looked to be an easy chip shot for the kicker, but he missed. This wasn't the only example of not executing either, as Tyler Van Tubbergen had 5 interceptions compared to only 1 touchdown. Offensive Coordinator Archie Wagner commented on the offenses inability to finish drives saying "We have to do better than that. It doesn't matter if we are playing BYU, or Ball State you have to finish drives, and win the turnover battle, however we did not do that today. Next week is going to be a wake up call for these boys. We are better then this, and they know it."

On the offensive side of the ball, Tyler Van Tubbergen played a decent game, other than the 5 int's he threw. He went 28-45, and threw for 333 yards. Last week OC Archie Wagner said they were going to incorporate more tight end into the offense, and they did that today as Clark Mussman had 8 catches for 90 yards. Star Wide Out Jaime Wilson went off again today, having 6 catches, for 48 yards. Daniel Braverman had the only touchdown grab of the day, and he had a breakout performance going for 5 grabs, and 76 yards.

We all know that the starting running back is out for Western Michigan, but it didn't seem to hurt a lot today. His backup Brian Fields had 14 carries, going for 96 yards and a touchdown run that accounted for 60 of his yards. Fullback Antoin Scriven also made the most of his one carry, as he rushed for a touchdown.

BYU was led by Taysom Hill going 20-29, 283 yards, and 3 touchdown throws. He is the best quarterback Western Michigan will see all year, and they held up pretty good against the young sensation. Jaamal Williams also had a good day pounding the rock, as he had 82 yards on 15 carries, and broke 8 tackles.

Western Michigan has a much needed bye week to refocus and heal up small injuries. They have also announced some recruits will be coming on their official visit during the bye week.

The number 1 team in the nation has went down! In just week 3 of the regular season, we already have a new number 1, and it isn't because they lost to a team they shouldn't have lost to. Alabama hosted #5 Texas A&M in Bama this past week, and A&M pulled off a barn burner in a 42-37 win of the rolling tide. No new team entered the top 10, which is the 2nd week in a row this has happened. Oregon State is the weeks biggest loser, as they fell 9 spots, from 16 to 25. 4 different teams are tied for the biggest winner, as all four rose 3 spots. We welcome Nebraska to the polls, as they knocked off Maine this past weekend. Say goodbye to fellow BIG team Northwestern.

Love the city. Lived there for my first 28 years of my life, yet I've never done a dynasty with WMU on any NCAA game, though I think I may at some point. It's a city of around 100K people if you include the surrounding suburbs of Portage (the center of which is probably 10-15 mins from Waldo Stadium) and Battle Creek which is 20 mins away on the highway. The football field sits on Stadium Drive, running north and south and across the street there's the two of the more popular bars for the college crowd, as well as train tracks that are bound to have a train running on them at least once a game.

I now live in Lansing, and while I'm familiar with it because of my brother living in Lansing about 15 years ago, it doesn't have the same vibe as Kalamazoo. Kalamazoo has a huge craft beer culture, which lends itself to great restaurants, as well. Their Kalamazoo Promise allows any kid who goes to a Kalamazoo public school to get a free college education at any Michigan college or university, should they meet qualifications. There's a solid art community as well. It's also a fairly progressive city, I think. Probably helps having a decent sized university in the city.

In Waldo Stadium (and I think you can see it in the game) there's a hill near one of the end zone's and that hill used to fill up with stadium (or sitting, rather) room only for games. So the capacity is 30,200 but their record is around 36, 000 people, because they crammed in so many on that hill. They aren't allowed to do that anymore, fire hazards, I suppose.

I also covered WMU last year, which was a blast. Seeing the locker rooms after the $700K renovations is surreal.

I'm rambling now, but the tl;dr of it: I love Kalamazoo.
