THE DESOLATION OF SMOG | THE LOS ANGELES RED DRAGONS

Yes, I’m taking on a second franchise. Following Letalis’ San Antonio Marshalls gave me the bug to do a relocation franchise. It won’t be nearly as time consuming since it’s a single-user chise, but that means we’ll see all of those oddities of CPU team management. It has also served as a slider testing CFM. From that process I’ve reverted to my last-know sliders with some permutations based on some recent discoveries, such as combating the frequency of sacks with the false start and offsides sliders. I made an effort to eliminate some retired players and repeat offenders, but missed some in my hurry to get going, so we’ll also being seeing some former players getting new leases on NFL life.

The premise: The year is 2015 and the San Diego Chargers have beaten the Rams to the punch in moving to Los Angeles. Wells Fargo Stadium at the City of Industry site is complete and awaiting the relocated Bolts. Given the disharmony that led up to the departure, the organization has decided to make a complete break from San Diego by renaming the team and changing its color scheme. Ladies and germs, introducing the Los Angeles Red Dragons.

The decision to re-sign corner Brandon Flowers and let everybody else go was essentially house-cleaning after a 6-9-1 season. Age was a factor in some of the decisions (Freeney, Hardwick, Royal), but mostly the team simply hopes the majority of the replacements will be more talented. Bringing back 2-4 of these guys after the draft does remain a possibility though.

LOS ANGELES RED DRAGONS 2015 FREE AGENCY RECAP

Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad, But Oh, The One That Got Away

As the free agency period began, the Los Angeles Red Dragons had their sights set on three players. Because of the offers on the table to two of them, the third target was the object of a bargain hunt, and the aggregate value of the three offers was the maximum the team was willing to spend prior to the draft. The Dragons ultimately landed two of their targets, one of them an impact signing, but the player that got away would have had an even bigger impact on the team.

The two new guys in the house are former Redskins outside linebacker Ryan Kerrigan and ex-Texans safety Shiloh Keo. Kerrigan is a disruptive force who will significantly upgrade the Dragons' pass rush. The Cowboys also went hard after Kerrigan. Keo will replace Marcus Gilchrist at strong safety. He's viewed as a potential up-and-comer, but at present the signing is looked at as holding serve.

The Dragons also were engaged in a bidding war over former Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant. That war was lost to a divisional rival, the Oakland Raiders, making for Bryant-Jason Garrett reunion.
