Re: Rock Chalk, Jayhawk! | Maize's Kansas Dynasty

KU, Beaty Agree to Buyout Schedule
Athletic Director Jeff Long is in the middle of a coaching search that has the rumor mill churning. In the mean time, just as Head Coach David Beaty coached his last game, the Athletic Department was also agreeing on the terms of buying out what remained of David Beaty's contract.

Beaty, after signing an extension in 2016, had his buyout number changed to $3 million if he was terminated before the final three years on his contract. Beaty's salary was $1.8 million in 2019, $1.9 million in 2020 and $2.0 million in 2021. The $3 million represents 52% of the remaining total salary.

The University will pay out David Beaty in six installments. The installments will be paid over three years, with Beaty collecting $500,000 in each installment. The first installment will be made on January 1, 2019. The final payment will be made on July 1, 2021.

Jeff Long has said that the buyout will not effect the next coach's salary. He has said that the University is ready to make a larger investment in football - likely putting in more money to the next coach's salary. Long will also have to contend with potentially paying out a buyout for his next coach.

Bowl season begins on Tuesday, with the University tied to 15 coaching candidates. Of the 15, seven will be leading their team in a bowl game. Two others, Bo Pelini and Chris Klieman will be preparing for the FCS Playoffs.

Long said he will begin to travel and meet with coaches throughout the week, hoping to make a final decision before Christmas.

Re: Rock Chalk, Jayhawk! | Maize's Kansas Dynasty

Decent showing for the Big 12 in the bowl season (Oklahoma State needs to score something against the Buckeyes though!) - this will be a very intriguing off-season for the program. You will need to bring in a solid coach (Les Miles?) that can grow this program. You need help in almost every aspect of the team. I am excited to see you grow this team. I still remember going to see Kansas play Nebraska back in '08 - cold game with the wind and flurries all day.
