SEATTLE TAKES NFC WEST LEAD WITH BAY VICTORY

The Seattle Seahawks would finally right the ship in San Francisco. The first points came in the second quarter after San Francisco’s Robinson ran it in from the 1. Seattle responded as Boller threw a touchdown pass to Houshmandzadeh with 4:26 left in the half. With about 2:30 to go, Boller connected with Smith in the endzone to go up 14-7. San Francisco drove down and scored with a minute to go, to tie up the game at 14. With two timeouts, Seattle drove down the field and kicked a field goal before the half to make it a slim 17-14 lead.

The third quarter was a defensive battle and nobody scored. The fourth quarter started out punt heavy, but Patrick Turner caught a 9 yard pass to go up 24-14 with 7 minutes to go. Alex Smith marches down the field, surgically making throws and running it himself. He scampered 39 yards for the score, to pull within 3 at 24-21 with 1:30 left. Seattle would recover the onside kick and run out the clock.

“It was a good win. We will enjoy being in first place for tonight, then get back to work tomorrow as we prepare for Matt Ryan and the high octane Falcons”, Pete told the reporters.

MATT RYAN THROWS 6 TDS IN BLOWOUT VICTORY

The Seattle Seahawks defense was okay. They gave up a field goal and a Turner touchdown plunge to go up 10-0.

In the second quarter, Boller tossed a 5 yard pass to Gronkowski and Lynch ran in a few minutes later from 33 yards while bouncing off a couple tacklers to take a slim 14-10 lead. Matt Ryan completed a 31 yarder for a score to Douglas, but Fargas answered with his own 5 yard scamper to make it a 21-17 lead. Seattle would be victimized by the big pass play and Roddy White as he got behind Marcus Trufant for a 80 yard touchdown to go into halftime Atlanta leading 24-21.

The third quarter the Hawks offense came alive. They scored three times; Lynch on a 1 and 31 yard run; and Mare kicked a booming 51 yard field goal. Matt Ryan answered with bomb to Roddy White for 80 yards again. The quarter ended with the Hawks nursing a 38-31 lead.

The fourth quarter was dominated by the Falcons. They scored 21 uninterrupted points; touchdown passes to Roddy White twice and Douglas. Seattle got a lone touchdown but also threw a pair of interception leading to more touchdowns for the Falcons. The final score was 66-45. The worst part was when Rey Maualuga went down towards the end of the game. He had to be carted off the field.

REY MAUALUGA OUT INDEFINITELY WITH BROKEN TAILBONE

Rey Maualuga out for the next 11 weeks as he suffered a broken tailbone at the end of the game last week versus the Falcons in a blowout loss.

“He will be hard to replace. Antonio Pierce will step in to take his reps and I am confident his veteran leadership will be an asset to us as we move forward to compete for a NFC West title and SuperBowl ring. Rey will get stronger and be back in time for OTAs next season.” — Coach Carroll

“Great young player that will be missed out there. I’m ready to step up and fully contribute for our defense” — Antonio Pierce

MARE’S LEG SECURES PLAYOFF BIRTH FOR SEAHAWKS AS NFC WEST IS DECIDED IN WEEK 17

Seattle was facing an uphill battle at the end of the first quarter. It was 10-0. Tampa Bay scored a field goal, then picked off Kyle Boller and took it 14 yards for the score.

The second quarter was better as Kyle Boller connected with Alex Smith for a touchdown as well as Marshawn Lynch ran it in for a score as well. Olindo Mare added a field goal towards the end of he first half. The only problem was Seattle’s defense gave up a touchdown on a 14 play drive before the half as the game when onto halftime tied at 17.

The Hawks got the ball after the break and Kyle Boller threw his second interception of the game. The Buccaneers offense took advantage and drove down the field and scored a touchdown to go up 24-17. Seattle’s offense would get going, but the Buccaneers defense would stand strong as Seattle had to resort to field goals. Olindo Mare knocked in two field goals in the third quarter to cut the lead to 24-23.

The fourth quarter was a defensive gem. The Hawks intercepted Josh Freeman for the second time as the quarter was under way. They turned it into a game leading field goal to go up 26-24. The defense held the Buccaneers to multiple punts and managed to kick another field goal with about 7:30 to gonin the game to go up 29-24

Tampa Bay got a field goal with 4:30 left to pull back to 29-27. After the Seahawks were forced to punt, they intercepted Freeman for the third time in the contest and ran out the clock.

At the podium Coach Carroll told the media, “It was a good win, they played hard. Now that we’ve made the playoffs, we will focus on our division next week as we host the Rams in the season finale. We still have an outside chance of claiming the #2 seed in the NFC so our attention will be on that”

SEATTLE SECURES NFC WEST TITLE AND #2 SEED IN SEASON FINALE VICTORY OVER RAMS

Seattle’s offense did just enough to secure the win. St. Louis got a field goal half way through the first. Towards the end of the first, Boller tossed a ball to Alex Smith who ran through a defender for a 25 yard score to go up 7-3.

Mare got an early second quarter field goal to make it 10-3. After a botched punt by the Rams, Lynch ran it in from 3 yards to give them a commanding 17-3 lead going into halftime.

The Rams came out of the break energized as Bradford connected with Avery on a crossing route who took it 66 yards for the score. Seattle’s defense held up for the rest of the quarter.

In the fourth, Seattle’s defense was victimized by the bullish Jackson who took it straight up the gut, barreling over defenders leaving a wake of carnage in his 79 yard touchdown run. The Rams tied it up at 17-17 with 9:30 left in the game.

It wasn’t until Marshawn Lynch took a sweep pass right, where the edge was sealed off and took it in from 23 yards to give them a 24-17 lead with 7/20 left to go.

The Rams added a field goal with under 5 minutes to go, but Seattle’s defense manage to hold off the surging Rams to claim victory.

“I’m proud of all the guys; both sides played well this season. We earned this NFC West title and fought for the #2 seed. Our guys will rest up and we’ll get ready for whomever we face”

MARSHAWN LYNCH REPRESENT SEAHAWKS AT AWARDS CEREMONY

Only one Seahawk was honored at the award ceremony. Marshawn Lynch took home two awards; one for NFC Best Running Back. The second award was for NFC Offensive Player of the Year. Marshawn Lynch rushes for over 1300 yards with 12 rushing touchdowns. He also had 572 receiving yards with 6 receding touchdowns. He helped power the Seahawks to not only the playoff but the second best record in the NFC, trailing only the Atlanta Falcons.

”I want to thank the coaches and the big boys up front that opened up the lanes I went trucking through” — Lynch

SEATTLE HEAD TO CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME ON LEGS OF MARSHAWN LYNCH

Marshawn Lynch ran for over 125 yards in the contest; showing how deserving of the awards he just won weeks prior.

Olindo Mare got the scoring started with a chip shot. Dallas then took the lead on a fumble return for touchdown as Boller got hit hard in the pocket. Lynch added an 18 yard run to go into halftime with a 10-7 lead.

The third quarter was all Dallas. Austin caught a 66 yard bomb, and went in untouched to take a 14-10 lead. Felix Jones took a run up through he heart of the Hawks defense and ran the 55 yard to go up 21-10 with 6 minutes to go in the third.

Kyle Boller would put his team on his shoulders as he ran in from 10 yards to pull within 4, at 21-17. Seattle’s defense stood strong and forced a punt to end the third quarter. Lendale White would score the go ahead score from 4 yards out to take a slim 24-21 lead.

Seattle stopped Tony Romo with authority on a 4th down and 2. Their offense ran out the clock on the back of Marshawn Lynch.

“He’s our bell cow. When he’s going, we are tough to beat” — Coach Carroll

Re: Pete Carroll’s PAC-12 Pipeline (PS2 Madden Franchise)

SEATTLE GETS REVENGE OVER ATLANTA IN OVERTIME THRILLER TO REPRESENT NFC IN SUPERBOWL

Seattle was reminded all week long of the previous meeting these two teams had. Atlanta dropped 66 points on the Hawks in their regular season victory, and their team was all healthy.

The game was back and forth. Seattle scores first as Boller connected with Smith from 18 yards. The defense played well, but gave up a game tying touchdown a few second into the second quarter.

Boller threw an interception in the end zone, stopping their drive with zero points. The Seahawks got the ball back after a punt, marched down the field, but Boller threw another end zone interception. Lofa Tutupu then intercepted Matt Ryan and ran it back to the 2 yard line, which Marshawn Lynch took in for the score. The half came with the Hawks leading 14-7.

The third quarter, both defenses shined. Both defenses only allowed field goals respectively as the fourth quarter would be the one to watch.

Seattle could not get much offense going at first. Their defense forced the Falcons into a 4th and 35, but gave up a 55 yard score to Jenkins to tie up the game at 17-17. Boller then threw an interception as he was targeting Alex Smith. Alex Smith ran down the safety and punched the ball out. He then scooped up the ball and ran it in for the score, making it a 24-17 lead.

After a punt to pin the Falcons on their 8 yard line, Turner took the ball straight through the heart of the defense for a 92 yard score to tie up the game. The score held as both teams went to overtime.

Both teams defenses were phenomenal forcing dueling punts. Matt Ryan then tossed an interception to Cason. After Marshawn Lynch ran a couple times, Olindo Mare kicked the game winning field goal.

“These games age you man. I think this game took a year off my life; the Falcons are a really good team. I’m sure they’ll be back here next year, but our attention now turns to the Kansas City Chiefs. Their offense can score at will so we cannot give up the big play. We will show up ready to claim the Lombardi Trophy, after we take in the spectacle of SuperBowl week.” — Coach Carroll
