I know, I'm just asking from your experience with past iterations. I'm anxiously waiting for the info too; my first true baseball sim!

You're in for a real treat dude. Best sports sim on the planet. I suggest trying an exhibition game first, maybe some postseason mode, and then ultimately Franchise. Road to the Show is really fun too.

For those of us who own a playstation for the first time and gave up on the crappy 2k series, what do you guys recommend I try first in the show 14?

Is there a myteam/ultimate team like in NBA 2K/Madden NFL? If so, is it good?

honestly, just do a play now game and PLAY THE GAME to start. just enjoy the game at it's core. then play around with things. (as for me, I always do a play now game with my fav team, against a division rival. (This year it'll be sox/yanks at Fenway)).

I'll probably do that then jump right into RTTS. The reason behind that is, I'll actually feel like a minor leaguer because I won't know the game! In other sports games I actually know how to play the game before hand, so being someone just coming into the league isn't very accurate. Now I'll actually feel like a rookie. I'm looking forward to that.

Anyone else a bit underwhelmed after today? Not just the release date, I feel like they overhyped things a bit too much. Not quite sure what I was expecting, but it was definitely more.

The ps nation article was good, but the May date is a little disappointing. It doesn't even say if it'll be May 1, could be later.

I'm gonna lower expectation on this. I'm sure eventually it's going to be great but I have a feeling this is going to be a similar experience to NBA2k14. Flashes of greatness and beauty with some real issues and lots of patches. As long as I don't expect too much I think it will be fine though.

However, I am more disappointed with the May release date. The season will already be at least 1/6th and perhaps up to 1/3rd over by the time the PS4 game hits the shelves. By that time, I am too consumed with REAL baseball in the evening to play much of the video game variety. Also, it means the roster update likely wont be done for a while...perhaps until june or july. The only good part is that opening day rookies, such as Tanaka, will have their likeness in the game, more than likely.

Really bummed about the release date. Also the beards look awful.

I agree with some of this. I definitely want to see some PS4 gameplay or something because the screenshots really didn't wow me like some PS4 games have. I also agree the beards don't look as fantastic as some people seem to think. However, it looks like Knight and co will be able to transfer a ps3 roster file over, so we won't have to wait long at all to get the OSFM roster on PS4. I'm also not too upset over the May release date, I just wish we could've known sooner. There's still plenty of season after May and like you said, they may be able to include some rookie player models right away, plus there'll be accurate beginning of season rosters

Possibly late may is immensely disappointing. I bought a ps4 last week after the shortage ended. Purchased nba2k14 with it. Never opened because I was waiting for an update on the show 14.

Now I got it and im going to return my ps4 and nba. Im not complaining or revulting...It's just stupid in my opinion to own a system im going to play sparingly for 3 months while the flagship title I want is so far off. Plus from what I hear NBA is better on PC, and I love March Madness 2k14.

The other side of the coin is, for most of us fans of bad teams (I happen to be a Brewer and Mariners fan) by the time Late May comes I stop feeling so amped for baseball when my teams are out of it. I still follow it, but I don't get that "omg have to have the game to play everyday" feeling I do when the game comes out before the season begins.

Im worried That the reason to own a ps4 combined with the waning interest in the season might make me skip 14 altogether next gen and just wait till next year when the system has more games and investing 400 dollars makes better sense.

I don't think Sony overhyped the game at all. Not much news before today and really not much news today. I will reserve my opinion until I can see video gameplay footage before judging the game. First year on a new console I don't expect the world. The beards and hair are OK but it would be nice to be able to get rid of them in the future. The only things that matter to me are how the players look and animate. Jerky motions have to be a thing of the past on the new console after they figure out the OS.
