Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

I'm doing a second franchise where I play as the Brewers and attempt to rebuild the team. To rebuild, I first feel the need to destroy, so the following trades are attempting to remove most of the Brewers MLB talent for potential prospects.

Note: In my franchise it's a few days before the deadline, and all teams listed for potential trades are competing for the playoffs and the players I'm sending them fit needs that they have.

    Giants Get: Ryan Braun
Brewers Get: Kyle Crick+ Edwin Escobar+ Andrew Susac

    Indians Get: Jonathan Lucroy
Brewers Get: Clint Frazier+ Trevor Bauer

    Rangers Get: Carlos Gomez
Brewers Get: Jorge Alfaro+ Joey Gallo (Substitute Michael Choice for Alfaro if Alfaro is too much).

    Blue Jays Get: Scooter Gennett
    Brewers Get: D.J. Davis

    Reds Get: Aramis Ramirez
    Brewers Get: Michael Lorenzen

Nationals Get: Matt Garza+ Jim Henderson+ Francisco Rodriguez (Substitute/Add Yovani Gallardo if he makes the value closer)
    Brewers Get: Lucas Giolito

Twins Get: Kyle Lohse+ Willy Peralta
    Brewers Get: Kohl Stewart

    Angles Get: Marco Estrada
    Brewers Get: CJ Cron

      Braves: Herrera/Duffy

Blue Jays: Cain, Miley / Prado+McCarthy
      Royals: Rasmus
      Diamondbacks: Almonte

      Blue Jays: Zunino
      Mariners: Lind, Miley, Bethancourt
      Diamondbacks: Rasmus
      Braves: Delgado

Those are my top three possibilities. I think they're all fair. Thoughts? Those aren't really four team trades, they're three teamers and then an extraneous one-for-one with the Braves. I think the Mariners deal Zunino if they're getting Bethancourt back. Zunino's projected as a sub league average bat this year without the defense to justify it.
Coming from a Royals prospective, I'd go with the 2nd one over the first option. They're not likely to give up Cain plus Herrera or Duffy and just get back Ackley. However, I could see them dealing Cain plus someone else for Rasmus as they're power deficient. Ackley isn't any better than Cain at the plate, but Cain is a better defender, so I don't see them doing that.

I could see the Nats sending a package the would include Cole, Solis or Purke...or possibly 2 of those before Giolito.

You aren't asking for enough in every single trade except for the trades in which you get Giolito and Stewart. You're asking for too much in those trades.

Yeah, I'm officially going with that one. Now I need to figure out what to do with Lind though lol. Really like the fit.

One of them, yes. It is a ripoff. And it favors the side getting Giolito.

My guess is to just platoon him, then wait and see if a team loses a DH or 1st baseman at some point.

Have fun with Cain! He's a great fielder and can be a solid hitter if he's not hurt, which seems like all the time. You might want to upgrade his fielding a bit via edit like I did. I watch every Royals game and he rarely makes a mistake in CF. Not much of an arm, however.

I don't think Lucroy is worth that much. Frazier is a big time prospect. I don't have much input on the others, but I don't see the Indians moving Frazier for anything short of a superstar. I think only Braun or Gomez would be enough for them to move Frazier and Bauer. Despite his recent poor performance Bauer is still their top pitching prospect and Frazier is their second best hitting prospect after Lindor. Once Lindor is called up, I think Frazier starts next year as their top prospect.

Braun or Gomez would fit a need for the Indians. I'd look into one of those if you want Frazier and Bauer.

Lucroy is definitely worth that much, if not more. He's easily one of the best young players in the game today imo.

Would Lucroy+ Garza + Henderson net me Giolito if I scrap the Indians deal? I really like him and the Nats are way out in front of the NL and look like potential World Series favorites. They need a quality 5th starter, relief help, and Lucroy is an upgrade at catcher.

It isn't particularly realistic, and the Nats don't need a catcher with Wil Ramos behind the dish, nor do they need rotation help in the form of Garza.

What would you like in return? A bullpen arm? A bench bat? Prospects?

The CPU offered this trade to each other. Thoughts?

Red Sox have the best record in baseball and the Cubs are 1 game back in the NL Central. The trade is Lester and Andrew Miller for Baez

Doesn't make a lot of sense for the Red Sox to trade their ace when they're the best team in the league. And they have Bogaerts to play SS for the future.

Do you guys consider Mike Moustakas available in trade? Just in general, no stats or anything.

Would KC have to get a 3B in return or could I shift Gordon to 3B as his replacement?
