Personal favorite of mine is Scott Elbert of the Dodgers and he'll be really cheap to acquire. Been mentioning him here before and how he was really clutch and made the All Star team for my Dodgers on The Show 12. Pure groundball machine when I was pitching with him. Send the Dodgers some low level SP prospect to give their organization some depth and you're good.

Other names could be Joe Thatcher (ARZ), Jerry Blevins (WAS), Rich Hill (BOS), Tony Watson (PIT) or Antonio Bastardo (PHI)

      What should I consider?

Cubs get: Christian Yelich, Anthony DeSclafini
Marlins get: Samardzija. (Marlins are competitors in my chise)

Cubs get: Aaron Sanchez, Daniel Norris, Anthony Gose
Jays get: Samardzija, Schierholtz (Doing his normal 2013 stuff in my chise)

Cubs get: Eddie Butler, Corey Dickerson
      Rockies get: Samardzija

      Cubs get: Jason Heyward
      Braves get: Samardzija, Soler

Cubs get: Kyle Crick, Gary Brown
      Giants get: Samardzija

Sorry if it`s long, i have many options. Looking for a very nice, young outfield bat as well (as you can see Heyward, Dickerson)
Anyone have thoughts on these since I'm doing a cubs franchise as well

Revisiting my Mets trading for David Price. To get him I'm going to have to move either Colon or Granderson to either the Rays or another team. Any ideas of teams who may be interested? I'd prefer to move Colon as it would be more realistic in the context of my season since he has a 2.09 era through a month and a half.

I could move him to the Rays and the trade I'm thinking would be:

Colon, Syndergaard, deGrom, Montero, Cecchini, Nimmo for Price and I'd like to get Desmond Jennings but not sure if the Rays would move him

For just price I'm thinking Syndergaard, deGrom, Montero, Nimmo

So for Jennings I'd be giving Colon and Cecchini for Jennings

I think this is pretty close to fair value. But I'm not 100% sure. Might not be quite enough but close. I know it's a lot, but guys like Price command a big haul (which I think you're pretty close to matching). I had the same problem when trading for Stanton, had to give up a ton, but in the end it's worth it to have a stud.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

Okay, hoping to get some insight into my current roster / trade dilemma(s):

              SD Padres (OSFM Roster)

The contracts don't reflect "real life" in that everyone on the roster has a one year deal except for Maybin and Venable, who I'm currently not interested in dealing away anyway...

If I do "keep it real", then the expiring deals would be:

              Headly 3B
              Donorfia RF
              Smith LF
Johnson (SP currently on season long DL with Lubke SP)

              Rumored to be available IRL:

              Hundley C

              Recently Traded IRL:

              Banks 1B / OF

              Free Agent IRL:

              Nady LF

These are the players I put on the Trading Block:

              Headley 3B
              Donorfia RF
              Hundley C
              Smith LF
              Nady LF
              Banks 1B / OF
              Kennedy SP
              Cashman SP

              Looking for:

2B (If I trade Headley and move Gyrko to 3B)
              3B (Replace Headley if traded)
              LF (need upgrade)

It's currently late May and my team is about 20-20 / .500

I expect that to continue (at best), which would make me a "seller" and looking to make upgrades for 2015

I NEED hitting and have a surplus of pitching (esp. starters) and prefer prospects or rookies that are coming into their "MLB Ready / Starter (or at least platoon) phase of their careers...

The only guy I CAN'T trade is Robbie Erlin, who's starts I play and sim the rest, so he's "my guy" etc.

Taking the above into account, who do you guys think I should take a run at and who would be fair compensation?

              THANKS!

Is the version with Jennings thrown in realistic?

I don't mind giving up the prospects for Price. Plus Jennings would give me a solid CF. If I decide Price is too much I might just do something like Syndergaard, de Grom, Cecchini for Jennings and Odorizzi. But I'd really prefer to get a LHP to throw in my rotation.

Well I am a huge Padre fan and am keeping it realistic as well. Here are some trades I have pulled off so far.

I traded for some Cardinals OF prospects (Grichuk + Piscotty) as well as some arms (Siegrist + Marco Gonzales). Then I traded some young arms for Jose Altuve.

My lineup now looks like this.

                  C: Grandal
                  1B: Alonso
                  2B: Altuve
                  SS: Cabrera
                  3B: Gyorko
                  LF: Quentin
                  CF: Venable/Maybin
                  RF: Smith/Denorfia

With Liriano, Renfroe, Piscotty and Grichuk + 2 OFs I just drafted who should be up in 2015 and 2017 I have a solid young OF of the future. I also have a guy I drafted who should be up in 2015 and plays 1B/LF so idk what I'm gonna do with that.

Also, as mentioned recently, you could trade Hedges + some others for Castro and move Cabrera to 2B

But that's what I did, anything you like?

I have identified a trading bug for user controlled teams with a rebuilding roster strategy. The CPU is considering the user controlled team's rebuilding strategy in determining whether to approve trades in some instances and the user can trade an aging veteran for a good young prospect.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

I have been looking at places to ship Hedges but since I have Cabrera/Altuve I don't really need Castro. I can't move Cabrera to the OF either.

So I was looking at some teams that are like 10-14 games back out of their division and would be selling. I'm actually the 2nd team in the wild card right now so it would be nice to get a starter but he needs to be decently young but it's not a big deal if it's more prospects. Thoughts on these?

Hedges for Joc Pederson from Los Angeles

Hedges + something for Biddle and Bastardo from Philadelphia

Hedges + something for Cespedes/Parker from Oakland. If it makes any difference Cespedes is hitting .240 with 7 HR in the middle of June

Hedges + something for Hutchison and Stilson from Toronto

                        Great info!

                        1) I will def check out those STL OF prospects and Altuve

                        2) I doubt I'd go with Castro for Hedges / Headley (plus), I'm fine with Cabrerra at SS...having both seems lineup "redundant" to me...

YOUR lineup, however, makes a lot of sense to me, esp. since you'll be able to upgrade to OF soon-ish...

                        Questions:

                        1) Is there a chance Headley stays with SD or is he def out of there? I kind of like his production and ability to switch hit, but he's closing in on 30 and is the most legit trade piece, so...?

                        2) If I decide to unload a SP or two, did I pick the right guys to put on the block (Kennedy / Cashner)?

                        3) Is Hundley worth much as a vet catcher? He's really hitting for me, but someone's gotta go...

                        4) Smith / Donforia / Nady / Quentin aren't really worth much at there age / OVR right?

Thanks for the insight, let me know if you have any other players you think are worth taking a look / run at...

                        Regards

                        EDIT:

                        @Friar Fanatic:

I'd also love to get Cespedes, but is that realistic? Generally Beane trades guys in their last year, when is his deal up?

What would A's want in return?

I would take Cashner off the block. He's a burgeoning superstar, so you'll want to keep him. Maybe put Luebke on the block instead.

Very slim I would say. The Padres have a really strong history of dealing starters for prospects. Latos, Gonzalez, Adams, Gregerson, Frieri etc. Plus Headley is up after this year and even if you want to keep him he will be expensive and would want a long term deal.

Cashner will not be traded what so ever. In real life he is regarded as their most valuable player in the entire organization with Gyorko behind him. He is also tearing it up in real life and is making his way into that upper echelon of starters. Kennedy was just traded for as well so they won't deal him. Luebke, Tyson Ross, Erlin, Josh Johnson are all people they could trade with the exception of Johnson and Luebke this year due to injuries.

Huston Street is supposed to be a big name come trading time as well as his contract is up and idk if the Padres will take the option for 2015.

Hundley is rumored to be in a deal for Moreland so Hundley plus maybe someone like Seth Smith could snag Moreland.

I personally don't like Hedges since he can't hit for **** and Grandal is a good hitter. I am trying to ship hedges out of here.

Not much UNLESS they are preforming very well and a contender like the Red Sox or whatever needs them. Then their value rises a bit. But if it's before June then probably not much.

I would rank their value like this. Quentin > Denorfia > Smith > Nady

I'd also love to get Cespedes, but is that realistic? Generally Beane trades guys in their last year, when is his deal up?

What would A's want in return?
To be honest, who knows. It very well could be if they get the right people in return. If they are out of contention and you give them some solid prospects I would say so.

I wouldn't give up Syndergaard for Odorizzi and Jennings... I think you're trade is alright for Jennings and Price. It's tough to give up much more than that really. It's pretty fair IMO.

Not trading within the division has always seemed like broken logic to me. It seems like you're screaming, "I'm losing this trade." If you think you're winning the trade, why wouldn't you want to weaken a rival?

That + could be Eric Stults or Casey Kelly. But wow, this is like, a perfect fit.
