Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

Using 30 team control and this CPU trade came across the board:

    BOS Receives:
    SP Cueto (B Pot, 28 y/o, RHP, 3-2, 4.71 ERA)
    CP Hoover (B Pot, 26 y/o, RHP, 0-1, 2.55 ERA, 0 SV)

    CIN Receives:
    SP Owens - AAA (A Pot, 21 y/o, LHP, 5-1, 3.67 ERA, 71 OVR)
RP Capuano (Just a basic innings eater)

    To put things in context:
    OSFM Rosters (Opening Day)
We are about 40 games into the regular season of 2014.
BOS is currently 4th in the division (6.0 GB); 2.0 GB of WC
CIN is currently 3rd in the division (10.5 GB), 1.5 GB of WC

I thought this was actually pretty fair/realistic- but wanted your guy's opinion. BOS's closer has been awful and Hoover will most likely jump into that role. BOS also solidifies their weak SP rotation with Cueto's addition. CIN gets an almost MLB ready LHP with A Pot- not sure how many LHP A Pot's are in the game, but gotta be rare. CIN also avoids having to pay Cueto this coming off season when his 10mil/year contract expires- especially helpful since this means they will most likely try re-sign Mat Latos.

It's fair, but I don't think Cincy's quite far out of it enough to deal Cueto.

I agree with AC, Cincy still has a shot at the playoffs so no deal.

I know it not too realistic but any suggestions on getting either Matt Kemp or Andre Either to Oakland want to offer a realistic package

What would you like in return? He's got good value on a somewhat team friendly contract so there'd be many teams interested.

I could see the Mets being interested and offer Rafael Montero and Wilmer Flores.

Boston could probably offer Mookie Betts, Anthony Ranaudo and Daniel Nava.

Can't help but wonder if the Marlins would be interested since they were said to be in the bidding...you might be able to get Andrew Heaney, Rob Brantly and Jesus Solorzano.

Darkhorse CWS acquiring Cespedes meaning a deadly 3-4 Cuban punch. Unlikely since they're in a rebuilding mode under Rick Hahn but the lineup would be solid! I'd say Alexei Ramirez, Trayce Thompson and Scott Snodgress would be the best Hahn could offer without totally giving up on the future...oh and you could add Adam Dunn to that deal if you'd like ;-)

Out of my options above, I'd do the Red Sox deal

              Ethier for Straily straight up?

Kemp for Russell almost works as a 1-for-1 swap. Depends on how Kemp is producing

I'm almost at Halfway and Kemp hasn't been producing for the dodgers been in and out of the starting lineups for the dodgers I think he only batting like .230 and 8HRs

I would offer Russell if wasn't such a big part of the team now Lowrie went down with Injury again so I had to promote him and he been playing outstanding batting .280 and his fielding has been outstanding so I'm hesitant giving him up but it might be the only option for Kemp any other suggestions you may think off??

Well on a similar note and this may help, I was interested in getting Cespedes and would offer Hedges and Medica who is now a B potential. Can also offer Hahn, Kelly, Peterson, Maybin or Denorfia or a combo.

Interesting convo on Cespedes since I'm running a Mets franchise. What do you think of de Grom, Cecchini, Puello/Nimmo? Or would either Syndergaard or Montero have to be involved? Of all my prospects the two I'd most like to keep are probably Montero and Puello. I'm actually looking to move Syndergaard as bait for a stud player like Cespedes, David Price, etc. I think I like Cespedes as an option more than Price since the Mets need OF a lot more than pitching.

I'm not going to move Flores since it is hard to find young prospects who actually have their picture in the game lol. Helps a lot with immersion for me.

Hey guys I am running a Cubs franchise. We are playing really well sitting 1 game back in the division behind Cin towards the end of May. I am looking to upgrade my outfield. I would like to go after someone like Matt Holliday or Jason Heyward to give a veteran presence and some pop. What do you think it will take to get one of them? I would like to keep Baez, bryant, Olt, Castro, Rizzo, Bonificao, Castillo. Thanks

Ok. I'm checking my options for possible Jose Altuve landing spots. These are the teams that are currently looking for a 2nd baseman on the trading block:

                          Braves
                          Yankees
                          Cardinals
                          Giants

I would love to send him to the Cardinals and get a bat that can help me win now. They've got 4 80+ outfielders right now (Taveras, Holliday, Craig, and Piscotty), plus Peter Bourjos (77 ovr) and Randal Grichuk (75 ovr).

Holliday is the odd man out in the outfield right now for them.

I still want to give Altuve some time to turn it around, but what is everyone's thoughts on a Holliday for Altuve deal?

EDIT: Or maybe Jon Jay + J.R. Graham for Altuve?

Add the Orioles to this list. They need a 2B and a 1-2 Hitter. I would recommend targeting prospects over win-now players if you're the 'Stros. I'm not trying to tell you what to do but they have so many holes a few bats won't make a huge difference and most of there prospects aren't too far away so that could be a lot of fun. Also if you do an Orioles deal you could get Nolan Reimold as part of it (As well as couple good prospects) he isn't great defensively but he can certainly hit and might aid your lineup in the short term

As far as the deal you proposed I think that Holliday is more valuable at this stage than Altuve so i dont think this would work straight up.

That's what I figured. How about Syndergaard/Montero, de Grom and Cecchini for Cespedes? Could also sub Nimmo in for any of those guys if that makes it more realistic.

Yeah, that's exactly how I feel. Even though Altuve is rated higher and much younger, I felt like I would definitely have to add more to make it even.

According to the spreadsheet, Altuve is a Mid B + Low B. Holliday is a High B + High B + Mid B. Adjusting for the fact that it's the 2015 season in my franchise, I'm guessing I'd have to add at least a Mid B, probably even a High B to make it even.
