Yeah i feel like this is a pretty even swap. I'm getting the Power back with Dominguez and Carter for what i am losing in Butler. Plus I am getting younger with players that are controllable for a while.

I know I'm late but since I also play as the Dodgers I figured I'd throw my hat in the ring. I waited until the deadline to see who was out of it and who was contending, the Mets were out of it and actively shopping 2B Daniel Murphy. He isn't the greatest defensively and doesn't have a ton of power, is an expiring contract, so I sent some prospects over there for him and moved Dee Gordon to SS and Hanley to 3B so I could take Uribe out of the lineup. I never did do anything at catcher as Ellis is starting to heat up and his lack of production isn't hurting my team as I'm getting solid production up and down the lineup on any given day.

On a side note, I ended up dealing Kemp to Boston at the deadline for prospects. Boston was leading the division and getting zero production from the CF spot, was actively looking for a CF (they attempted to gut their farm system to acquire Denard Span of all people) so I ditched the contract and sent him over there. Lastly, I then sent some prospects over to Philly for Cliff Lee as they were well out of contention and were in rebuild mode while demoting Dan Haren to the pen for long relief and sending Jamey Wright down to the minors. All trades were done to the specifications on the spreadsheet so everything was done accurately to the sheet and all trades made sense for where the teams were heading into the deadline.

See, that's the only thing I don't like about this deal. If the Astros were in a position to win now, it would be okay. But since they're more than likely not competing, their entire focus is on getting younger and more controllable/affordable players. Moustakas probably fits, but Butler doesn't.

Value wise, it's not bad. But realistically Houston wants prospects back for those guys.

I think Adams can command at least a high C if he's pitching well. Garcia is a low C, and Aardsma is a D. I don't think those values combined, plus a contract dump is equal to a high C.

Maybe someone like Zach Petrick + Aardsma for Adams, since you're forcing a bad contract on them.

I could just pull Aardsma out of the deal. The only reason I added him was to free up a roster spot so that I could sign Kendrys Morales if I felt the need to add a bat for the playoff push.

While Garcia is a low C he is developing quite nicely, in terms of his attributes increasing.

I'm loaded in the outfield which is why I would rather give up somebody from that position.

                  Decisions, decisions.

You and the Phillies both are loaded with outfield prospects. The Phillies' guys are farther off, but I wouldn't really consider it an area of need for them. I think they'd like to get pitching back, another area the Cardinals are deep in (actually, is there any part of your system that isn't deep? Lol).

Petrick would work. Cory Jones, Mike Mayers, Nick Petree, Lee Stoppelman, and Sam Gaviglio are all other guys that would work straight up, I'd assume. With Petrick's overall being in the high 70's you might want to keep him, I'm sure he'll develop into a nice bullpen arm since your rotation is (well, should be) full.

In my franchise, the Phillies traded away Cole Hamels to the Angels for pitching prospects, so they are asking for outfielders.

I hate trading away prospects just to fill a need for 8 weeks of a season plus playoffs. Always afraid of giving away that next All-Star Caliber player.

I appreciate the advice. I have about 10 days before deadline. I may just hang on to what I have and see if we can't sort our issues out. The bullpen isn't horrible, just young and inconsistent and Adams is pitching lights out right now!

You can never have too much pitching, lol. But, your deal definitely does make more sense with that background info. If you want Adams, then that should work since Garcia is progressing and playing very well.

I completely understand where you're coming from with being hesitant to give up prospects. If you think Adams puts your bullpen over the edge and will give your team a boost, I think that it's worth it. The Phillies don't really need him, and St. Louis' system is deep enough that it shouldn't hurt you too much to give up a guy like Garcia or one of those pitchers that I mentioned earlier.

If it means anything, I have a Phillies franchise, and I really enjoyed pitching with Adams before I traded him.

Agreed, can never have too much pitching!

I think I may pull the trigger with the deal of Garcia for Adams. I won't dump Aardsma salary on them, as in real life there is no reason for them to take him (56 OVR) considering he has a plus 5 ERA in AAA

I am willing to part ways with Bubba Starling(I'm not high on him anyways) so maybe throw Starling in the deal instead of Butler? Ship Butler to another team for some pitching? Maybe to Seattle for a young arm or what about Cleveland for Masterson?

Starling to the Astros is interesting.

Butler needs to stay in the AL as a DH. Cleveland like you mentioned...how about the Orioles? Seattle has Smoak, Hart and LoMo to shift between 1B/DH already

The Rays just offered the Royals this trade:

                                Rays (20-24) Get:
Raul Mondesi (SS, A-Ball) 60 OVR, A POT
Kyle Zimmer (SP, AAA) 75 POT, A POT
Sean Manaea (SP, A-Ball) 66 OVR, B POT

                                Royals (25-17) Get:
                                Ben Zobrist (2B - 1 Year Remaining, $11.1 M) 89 OVR, B POT (.272, 5 HR, 23 RBI)

The Royals are friggin' killing it offensively, leading the league in Team Average. They also are missing Omar Infante (fractured forearm, two more weeks on the DL).

Meanwhile, Alex Cobb and Jeremy Hellickson are both still out with pre-season injuries. I don't know that the Rays should be blowing anything up yet - they're four games under .500, yes, but they've also scored 20 more runs than they've given up. I think they've just had some bad luck and some big blow out losses.

Both teams have roughly $10 M in money to spend on players.

I feel a little like the Royals would be gutting their farm to make this move, especially since the Rays are actively shopping around Zobrist (he's on the Trade Block). On the other hand, KC is 1st in the AL Central, and maybe would want to keep that offensive machine humming?

                                Any advice? Let it fly?
