Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Thanks. I was going to hold Mauer til the deadline and package him with pieces for somebody like Shelby Miller (I know but he's a headcase and shaking off Yadi, he'll be gone soon) however, your suggestion is a fantastic video game solution. Mauer has 10/5 rights and neither team could fit the contract. Poloanco is about as trade-able as Jeter. Rocks my socks and now I will be able to sleep... providing I don't have to add much else to Mauer.
While I have your attention, I'm a 2k convert and while both games have crazy trade logic, this is a different kind of crazy. How about a Shelby Miller type suggestion could I target? The above will be my only pre-season trade (to play "Bocaton" all season as he should have been) so outside of the top 5 prospects, the roster is wide open. Something built around Nolasco and Josmil?Comment

Buxton for Shelby is insanity. Shelby is playing pretty badly right now."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Certainly didn't mean to offend anyone. Like I said, I'm a 2k convert and don't have the trade logic for the Show down yet. After some snooping I found the magic spreadsheet and can do my own math from now on :-)
Can't let it go... in my defense, my first sentence asks for a value debate, no names on the jersey. We can all agree that once you put your quarter in and press start, it's all fantasy. In our fantasy world, spring training has yet to begin and Poloanco has not put up his video game numbers. I know a bit of the back story between him and Sano for no other reason than I'm a geek and like D.R. baseball. He was coming to the Twins regardless, I just didn't want to unbalance the Pirates so bad that it screwed up the simulation in the NL Central for years to come.
One last thing... if Matheny has to go out in the middle of a game to tell Miller to stop shaking off Yadi, watch how fast he's packaged out the door for a high risk/high reward prospect and bullpen arm. You must be a Cardinal fan so I don't have to remind you about head cases (see: Rick A.).
Thanks again to all for the feedback, there are some really good baseball minds floating around here."for love of the game" - B. ChapelComment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I know Shelby for Buxton isn't close, what I was implying is that the Cardinals wouldn't do anything less than that with the Twins, and since Buxton wouldn't be traded by the Twins, there's no real way a deal gets done between the two. Side note, at least he was pitching well against the Jays

I'm not saying Shelby couldn't be dealt, I just don't see anything resembling a fit on the Twins. He wouldn't be traded just for a prospect, we have plenty of those, too many at some positions. He's also has too much upside to be traded for a bullpen arm. I do think he could be part of a deal to go get a pitcher like Price (or another top arm/ bat) at the deadline, but whether Mozeliak (who has a reputation of not trading prospects or getting involved in a blockbuster deal) pulls the trigger remains to be seen."for love of the game" - B. Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I think he's ace talent but shaking off the jedi master, just not the Cardinal way. The original question was for a Miller "type" of target that I could mathematically rationalize at the trading deadline. Now thinking about it, without the actual simulation and team records, it's not a very smart question.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I don't think a trade for any of these guys makes sense for their respective teams. The Braves and Rays have no reason to trade away one of their better pitchers (both under 25 as well) for a 30 year old Sanchez. I also think the Mariners are the same way, but I don't know too much about their roster. They sort of make sense, but only if they are trying to make a playoff push and one of their younger pitchers are struggling/injured.Wolverines vs. The World || DavidTheGreat's Michigan Wolverines (NCAA14)
