Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
At the end of April in my Twins chise and not surprisingly I'm in the AL Central cellar. It's all part of the plan...
Looking through my org, I noticed that LHP Scott Diamond (mid C + low C) is mowing 'em down at AAA Rochester with a 2.43 ERA, solid DIPS, and good peripherals. My plan is to move Kevin Correia, who's been flat awful, into long relief and promote Scott Diamond to get some MLB stats. Also, I want to get Lewis Thorpe into AA ball so he can start accumulating starts, so I'll need to open a SP spot somewhere in the minors...you get the idea...
Long story short, if Diamond does well at the MLB level for a month or so, I plan on dealing him to a contender that is needy in SPs. Both the Phillies and Rockies fit this description at this point.
Some pieces I'd be interested in getting in a potential Scott Diamond deal...
Tom Murphy, C (COL)
Christhian Adames, INF (COL)
Chad Bettis, P (COL)
Tyler Matzek, P (COL)
Aaron Altherr, OF (PHI)
Phillippe Aumont, P (PHI)
Cesar Hernandez, INF (PHI)
Mario Hollands, P (PHI)
Tommy Joseph, C (PHI)
Brody Colvin, P (PHI)
All of those guys above are in the low C to high C range although Colvin isn't on the sheet. I'd probably add in one of Pedro Florimon/Eduardo Escobar to give Eddie Rosario a spot when he's reinstated.
Any of the names above seem like a bad fit for fairness/realism? Any of these guys especially movable?
I consider all those players available.
Mario Hollands is an intriguing arm. Lefty, throws hard...I could see him filling a spot in the rotation or play in important role in your pen.
The Phillies don't have a need for Escobar or Florimon though so you should try and dump one of them in a separate deal.
How about Hollands and Joseph/Valle for Diamond and some other quad A player or lesser prospect?Former modder of "Ultimate Rosters" for MVP Baseball 2005.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
On a separate note, I am still working on trading Hardy. I like the deal for Cumpton/Wilson a lot but my issue is I don't have a logical spot for Cumpton now or in the future. I am high on the kid but it doesn't appear that he will fit in my future rotation plans (you can never have too much depth and I really really like Wilson so I am okay with this deal as is but I am testing the waters) I was wondering If I could replace Cumpton with another prospect preferably in the low minors. I had Kingham shot down understandably but I was wondering if Heredia/Wilson would work. If not I am open to suggestions to other teams packages, the Mets and Mariners look like real landing spots, but I am unfamiliar with these teams farm systems so I could use any sort of help anyone can offer.
Edit: I didn't see your edit Friar, the Moore deal is solid as well but I don't know if he is available. Hedges is certainly a fit for the Rays so it's not impossibleLast edited by mgcst5; 06-10-2014, 01:44 AM.Comment

How has Hamels been performing. His value is probably based on how he ages but I like that deal a lot.

Hamels is now 31 and is the same overall. He is getting rocked this year with a 5.12 ERAComment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
As for my deal. It is before the 2014 season and I am the Orioles wanting to unload Hardy. The deal I have approved thus far is Hardy for Cumpton/Wilson so I was wondering if I could switch Cumpton out for Heredia. Or if another team could offer a comparable package.Comment

Sounds good. I think it makes sense for them to deal Meadows instead of both SP so I will do Meadows, Taillon, Bell, and Hanson for Price. Thanks for your help.Comment

Hamels for Hedges + Fried + Liriano sounds about right with those numbers. May need a throw in.

Hardy + Patton for Heredia + Wilson? That way the lefty lost in the pen gets replaced. I was planning on dumping Patton anyways so it works out.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
METS
Wilmer Flores + Jacob deGrom for J.J. Hardy + Patton/McFarland/Gulimet
Rafael Montero for Hardy (if Hardy is really raking)
PIRATES
Luis Heredia + Justin Wilson + Andy Oliver for Hardy
Travis Snider + Justin Wilson for Hardy
YANKEES
Jose Campos + Slade Heathcott/Mason Williams for Hardy
Don't really see Seattle as an option with all their middling prospect depth in the middle IF.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Thank you for the feedback. I would love Montero but alas it is the pre-season so Hardy has no stats so that would be a negatory.
If you think its fair and realistic on the Buccos end I would love to get Heredia + Wilson + Oliver. Plus the computer bats Hardy 5 in my sims for the Buccos which is pretty perfect.
Thank you again for your input.Comment

Just no...Anibal isn't worth Owens alone at this point in time. Owens is way too highly regarded.
Edit: Some of you guys make my head hurt with Owens trade talks.Come hang with me on YouTube! I stream/make videos on a variety of games from sports, to action, to adventure!

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I think it makes a lot of sense. The Pirates had their first winning season in 20 years, so going after a solid SS in preseason wouldn't be unrealistic of them. I don't think Heredia + Wilson + Oliver is too much either...that's really a 3/4 starter in Heredia, a RP in Wilson, and a back end guy in Oliver. If you look at the spreadsheet, you are giving up low B + low B and getting high C + high C + low C, so you are giving an ever so slight discount anyway with this package.
Thats pretty perfect. Thanks man. Really appreciate it.Comment

I can't possibly imagine a scenario where someone turns down Owens for Anibal straight up."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Pirates do NOT do that. They'd be morons to trade 3 top 50 prospects and a top 100 prospect for a rental and overrated David Price.
He's walking 4 guys per 9 as usual and he's only recently begun to induce ground balls. His ERA is low on a .224 BABIP.
