Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
So here goes my first post for the 2014 for trade advice. I am the Arizona Diamondbacks. I know Chase Anderson is decent prospect for the Dbacks but in order to make team better, looks like one my prospects must go. I cant hit with Parra. He is just one of those guys in franchise, you dont do well with. This is a rough draft, and just my first idea for a trade this year. I need one more bat in the Dbacks lineup and maybe Brown will be better than Parra. Philles are 21-22 and I am 28-17. I wanted Fowler from the Astros at first, but the Astros did not seem to want to get rid of him
Diamondbacks get
LF Domonic Brown
SP Roberto Hernandez
2B Freddy Galvis
Phillies get
RF Gerado Parra
SP Chase AndersonLast edited by Chetballard; 05-26-2014, 12:05 AM.Comment

I broke down the trade like this:
Chase Anderson for Roberto Hernandez and Freddy Galvis (slight underpay if you look at the spreadsheet but it'll fly IMO)
Gerardo Parra for Domonic Brown (Parra is a Mid B/Low B while Brown is a High B/Mid B leaving you with the difference of a Low B > High B to add to the deal. Also, I'm having trouble seeing why the Phillies would trade a young bat with some pop and not getting much pop back in Parra. Their lineup would be hollow.)Former modder of "Ultimate Rosters" for MVP Baseball 2005.

Instead of G. Parra, beef up the offer to the Phils with another couple of nice prospects and you can probably get Dom Brown--although Brown's value has risen a lot over the past year.
As Totte mentions above, if you can find high B and a low B prospects in your system that you're willing to deal, you can try that out. I'd look no farther than your SS situation (Owings, Gregorius, or Alcantara) as Jimmy Rollins is getting no younger.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
My advice would be to hold onto Parra as a 4th OF. His D and arm are very nice and you could use him to pinch hit/run, play D. And if you really really hate playing with him, wait until the deadline to deal him to an OF-needy team. That would help you recoup a prospect from what Dom Brown would cost.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Thanks a lot of good advice. I am going to hold on trading anyone till at least after May. Probably not the best idea to trade in mid May when your in first place. I am going to play Cody Ross more, and hope Parra gets better.Comment

Crawford was just drafted out of HS last year so he's > 3 years away. I don't think they can staff SS until then even if JP does pan out. He's tearing it up, but he's only in Low A ball.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Was just saying because Rollins will be back next year as they can't make him leave, unless they intentionally and blatantly bench him. So was just thinking this would be a good chance to continue to replenish the barren pitching instead of adding a middle of the pack stop gap shortstop. A need you can worry about either in the off-season or the next year.

Gregorius could probably shift to 2B if Crawford stays at SS.Former modder of "Ultimate Rosters" for MVP Baseball 2005.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I was in an AIM chat with 37 and he was very helpful making several deals in my franchise with the Astros (simmed first season)
Here are the moves I made at the deadline: (Part I)
PHI sends 1B Ryan Howard (~.275 17 HR 50 RBI)
WAS sends SP Sammy Solis and OF Michael Taylor
In a battle with the Braves the bat of LaRoche has been non-existent hitting ~.210 with not much power or production. The Phils have fallen off hard and Howard is producing at a high level. Perfect spot for PHI to dump an aging player to gain a couple prospects.
PHI sends CL J. Papelbon (Performing very solid)
COL sends SP Tyler Matzek and OF Kyle Parker
COL is in the WC race as LAD has ran away with the division. Rockies closer was LaTroy Hawkins with a 5+ ERA and doing terrible. Phillies diving into rebuild mode and flipping vets for prospects.
HOU sends 2B Jose Altuve (24 y/o B POT | .270 2 HR 31 RBI)
ATL sends SP J.R. Graham and SS Jose Peraza
ATL was in a battle with WSH and believe it or not, Uggla was hitting .217 9 HR 36 RBI and had 13 errors. Nobody was ready to step up to the big leagues for ATL. Graham and Peraza strengthen Astros farm system
TOR sends SP Mark Buehrle (13-3 2.10 ERA)
LAA sends 1B C.J. Cron and 2B Taylor Lindsey
Angels in a tight race and need another arm badly. Buehrle is setting the world on fire this season and the Jays are out of contention. Based on the sheet it was an overpay for Buehrle but 37 & I discussed and thought the lights out year warranted a bit more.
HOU sends 1B Chris Carter (.250 14 HR 50 RBI) and RP Josh Fields (2.95 ERA)
OAK sends SP Mark Sappington (prospect)
Oakland is in a heated race with TEX/SEA/LAA and needed a DH and bullpen help and this clearly met their needs and is cheap. Sappington was 3-4 4.80 ERA in AAA and gives the Astros another piece in the organization.
__________
Part II to come this afternoon...AIM chat log on phone won't go back further. Some guys who were traded that I'll be posting: SD Chase Headley, PHI's SP duo Lee & Hamels, HOU Crain, possibly others...Last edited by NDAlum; 05-26-2014, 10:17 AM.SOS Madden League (PS4) | League Archives

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Dodgers are willing to unload Dee Gordon to me for just about anyone. Literally clicked on every player on my roster and they said it seemed like a good deal.
He's batting .125 but only has 8 AB. He isn't being used and it's mid may. He isn't exactly who I'm looking for but defense should increase and think he could bat solid.
Is this a reach for me? I'm the Yankees.
I don't really want him, he wasn't a preferred choice, but every other 2B or 3B played I've been scouting is on a team that is either in first or second.
Again, I'm not against waiting until the deadline to figure it out. I'm in first in the division with a good lead but the bullpen has been falling apart after a hot start and the lead is diminishing.
The problem I'm coming across with not controlling 30 teams is a lot of the teams aren't willing to part with players or the salaries are jacked up.
Gordon is on his last yr so it's not a huge investment on my part if I don't have to unload the little to no prospects I have.
Altuve is hearing up since my last post but can't find a trade that fits for him.
Might try Barney later too if anyone has a good trade for them.5Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Nearing the trade deadline here are some deals I have planned for my 30-team chise year one.
Phillies:
Rougned Odor (Rangers)
Joey Gallo (Rangers)
Ronald Guzman (Rangers)
Nick Kingham (Pirates)
Rangers:
Cliff Lee (Phillies)
Neil Walker (Pirates)
Pirates:
Neftali Feliz (Rangers)
Jimmy Rollins (Phillies)
Reasonings:
Spoiler-Phillies are finally starting their long overdue fire sale and in big way.
-Rangers are without Profar for the rest of the season, and this deal possibly could help them move Andrus for an OF bat in the offseason, and helps out their beat up SP.
-Pirates bullpen really needs that one more piece. They have a dominant 8-9, so add in Feliz and you go yourself looking good once you hit the 7th. Rollins helps out at SS and the Pirates are having a great year from Mercer so keeping him as he 2B is no problem. .327 AVG, 9 home runs, near .400 OBP nearing deadline.
Any Opinions on it?
Phillies:
Gary Sanchez
Slade Heathcott
Ian Clarkin
Yankees:
Chase Utley
Ryan Howard
Reasonings:
Spoiler-Phillies continue to sell their old veterans for young pieces, they wanted more for both overall but neither Utley nor Howard are being impressive this year.
-Yankees don't have a clear DH or a 2B and this deal adds both with their lineup. They are 4 GB of the division and .5 GB of the WC.
More anyway even with struggles from Utley and Howard?
Blue Jays
Cole Hamels
Phillies:
Aaron Sanchez
Daniel Norris
DJ Davis
Reasonings:
Spoiler-Phillies add three top tier prospects for their second left handed ace.
-Blue Jays are basically out of the division by being 8 GB but still two months left and they need a top pitcher for the years coming forward anyway, plus the WC is wide open so I see this as a why not for them.
Opinions?
(last for now)
A's:
Jeff Samardzija
Cubs:
Raul Alcantara
Michael Ynoa
Renato Nunez (?) feel need one more piece
Reasonings:
Spoiler-A's desperately need that number 2 guy behind Gray and Shark is having a big time year and *in my chise storyline* wants to sign long-term in Oakland.
-Cubs add two solid young pitchers and a bat that is a wild card.
Honestly, I would rather deal him off to Detroit but the Tigers don't really have the need. Anyone else I can replace Nunez with?
Felt like this was getting long, so will stop right here and wait a few more days in my chise before posting more trades. All opinions are appreciated as I want the best deals possible to happen.Come hang with me on YouTube! I stream/make videos on a variety of games from sports, to action, to adventure!
