It's the end of July with 6 days left before the trade deadline.

Strength is pitching as we have the a top 5 ERA while our batting average is the worst stat as it's near the bottom of the league. We can get homers and extra base hits but our number one issue is a good contact lead-off hitter.

Our bullpen is strong with only 1 reliever, Avilan, in the 4.5-5.2 ERA range that I might look to replace. Our 1-4 is strong (didn't do real injuries so I got Medlan/Minor/Beachy/Tehran) and Alex Wood is splitting time this year at the 5th spot with Gavin Floyd .

So my number one need is a contact hitter but I'm also wondering if maybe adding another elite closer type of reliever would help too. As it stands now If I make it to the 9th inning I'm very confident I'll get the win since Kimbrel has been lights out. I think if I had another elite level closer type player that all I would need to do is get to the 8th inning. However, I would only want someone with a year left as I wouldn't be cool with spending closer type money on two different relievers outside of this playoff push.

The three worse teams in the NL are the Padres, Rockies, and Reds while in the AL it's the Tigers, White Sox, and Yankees. All these teams are 10+ out of the division and wildcard.

Any ideas on any impact trades I could make to help make the playoffs?

Positions that would help are 2B, 3B, or OF. Also if any team had a closer or good setup man that would be movable I might bite for that. I would like to trade away SP prospects as I don't have much talented position prospects so I would like to keep the few I have if possible.
Brett Gardner would be a perfect option for you in the OF. In my offseason Dozier and Kipnis hit the FA market, so you could address that via FA. Mookie Betts from the Red Sox would also be a trade option at 2B for your next season. Glen Perkins at CP would work.

I believe it was last week or earlier this week there was a discussion on this thread about inter-division trades. Should still be kinda close in page numbers if you want to check it out.

If I wanted to trade Dillon Gee, who are some teams who would be interested/what could I get in return from those teams?

Cool thanks for the suggestions. I'm going to look at Gardner and Perkins tonight. I've thought about acquiring Mookie Betts before but I'm going to try out Tommy La Stella there next year. I thought he would get a shot this year but Uggla is surprising hitting .285 with 20 HR's and 50 RBI's so I cant take him out.

I am looking to boost the Arizona Diamond Backs, hitting prospects. I can afford a small amount of room and get rid of young pitching prospects. How fair would this trade be? I will list the ratings to make it easier. I did use the trade value spread sheet trying to make it fair.

            DiamondBacks Get

            3B Maikel Franco OVR 68 Pot A

            Phillies Get

SP Chase Anderson OVR 69 Pot B
SP Branden Shipley OVR 66 Pot A Listed as a Top 50 Prospect

Just a suggestion, maybe look into acquiring Gardner and Robertson instead. Robertson is younger than Perkins by 2 years. How's Drob doing in your franchise?

Got a quick question about the trade spreadsheet if anyone would be so kind.. Is the values to right the players you should expect to give up to trade for that player? And if so, why do some players (CarGo, Stanton, Price) have more than 3 values when you can only offer 3 anyways..

I believe he's in the 4.XX for ERA but I'll have to double check when I get in front of the game. One issue would be if he has a long contract. I would prefer someone on their last year since I don't think I could pay Kimbrel 10+ million while paying another closer type player 6-10 million. I wouldn't mind paying the final 2 months of their salary but I wouldn't want to keep two high cost relievers around for next year. I could always trade them in the off-season though.

It doesn't necessarily make sense to give up prospects for a short 2 month rental but I'd rather not mess up my future cap flexibility. I believe we have a surplus of pitching prospects (Minor/Teheran are both A potential while Wood/Graham/Martin/Sims/Hursh/Cabrera are all B's) so it wouldn't hurt us too bad to move some. Our hitting is inconsistent and part of me thinks the best chance I have at winning in the playoffs this year is to just go with what I'm good at, pitching. Having someone else elite level to bridge the gap between the SP and Kimbrel could be valuable.

With that being said I think once I realize what players it's going to take to get someone of that caliber I might rethink this and end up just staying put. What would someone like a Huston Street take to get? I'm at work so I cant pull up the spreadsheet as it's blocked. I believe he was on a 1 year deal and with the Padres struggling it doesn't make sense to keep him.

Something like Shae Simmons (B potential closer in AAA) and either Cody Martin or SP Cabrera or SP Hursh? Or would it be more like Shae, Martin, and Cabera or Hursh? Also I don't know if the Padres even need SP help so that might not make sense. I just don't want to fleece the computer. I would like to keep Betancourt and La Stella but am willing to move Peraza. With that being said though he dropped down to a high C potential as he was struggling in AA.

Also side note the Nationals just traded for Pujols recently so this is kind of why I'm urging to make a move with 6 days left before the deadline.

Yes you're correct. The values are the level of prospects that would want in return to trading that player.

The game only allows 3 people in a trade so you would basically do two trades. In the 2nd trade you would just choose the worst player on the other team.

                    For instance:

                    Stanton
                    for
                    Prospect
                    Prospect
                    Prospect

                    Scrub Player
                    for
                    Prospect
                    Prospect
                    Prospect

It'll be done on 2 trades but in essence is just a 6 for 2 swap.

Everyone in their rotation also has sub 4 ERA's other than Drew Hutchison, who's at 4.85. Also, Royals can't take on more expenses from Burnett's contract at the moment... Just in case this was missed. I'm starting to worry that some of my trades I had planned might have to be restructured. My Lee to LAD deal might have to be changed as well as they just called up Joc Pederson and might not want to move him.

Seems fine to me. Phillies might be hesitant to give up Franco but the return in the trade might be enough for them to do it.

Your 2nd question has already been handled aptly. As for the 1st, the values are 2-way values. MEANING, those values indicate how much you would have to give up to GET said player AND how much you could expect in RETURN for said player. So, no matter what side of the trade you are on, the player has the same value.

I've been away for 3 days in Pittsburgh so I missed about 15-20 pages haha... Sorry if this has been brought up anywhere.

I'm in June and not quite out of it yet, but just in case I fall off. Howard and Utley are playing great:

Howard .335 21 HR, 45 RBI in limited duty (platoon starter vs. RHP)

                              Utley .280, 23 RBI, 6 HR

What is a realistic prospect level to target for these guys if I need to sell them off? I'm in 2015, so certain things may be different on certain teams. I'm just curious what grade prospect to target and then I'll figure out which teams could use Utley or Howard.

Well, I decided to pull the trigger on a deal for Mike Morse.

I raised the question yesterday if I should do a Ronald Torreyes for Morse trade or a Brad Peacock for Morse trade...

Ultimately, I felt since I was taking a big part of their lineup, it would make more sense to give both of those guys.

So, I traded Ronald Torreyes + Brad Peacock for Mike Morse.

Torreyes is a 22 year old C-prospect 2nd baseman that will already be their best overall 2B. Brad Peacock is a 27 year old C prospect starting pitcher. After the deal finalized, the Giants instantly put Peacock in their rotation as the #5 guy. Torreyes is starting in AAA for them.

In Mike Morse's first game as an Astro, he ended up being the walk-off run as he scored from 2nd base on a Chris Carter single in the 11th inning.
