I think the reason the dogers made this trade was to clear some money bc I wound up taking back 5.5 million in salary.



So thoughts? Hopefully this helps my terrible pitching rotation.

Could you post the stats of the players included?

At what date in the calendar are you?

It's an unfair deal but maybe the numbers say otherwise

Realistically, I don't see either getting traded to the Cubs unless for Samardzija. Vazquez is a defense minded C, with an up and down offense. I feel Sweeney should be added, but feel it might be an overpay. I say Vazquez+Villareal for Hammel+Sweeney sounds fair.

What about Swihart? I'd really like a more of an offensively minded catcher. Which one would you say is better? What about Hammel and Sweeney for Swihart? I don't really care about getting another pitcher in return.

Pretty unfair trade.

What about Swihart? I'd really like a more of an offensively minded catcher. Which one would you say is better? What about Hammel and Sweeney for Swihart? I don't really care about getting another pitcher in return.

I like Swihart more, but Vazquez is more realistic. The Sox would trade Vazquez before Swihart. I don't see Swihart getting dealt for anyone but in a package for a great player.

Wow, I would love that! It's unfair for you though. If you want to start talking a Samardzija, Red Sox deal, you could get alot more than that.

yes, it's fair. Samardzija is considered a great player in my book, and that's pratically an A, B, and high C trade. Mookie should be an A, but is a high B instead though.

Well, it looks like Jeffrey may be headed to Boston then. That is unless there's some way for me to realistically get Austin Hedges from the Padres. But from what I've gathered, there's not really a realistic trade for him, even with a Samardzija deal.

They won't let go of Hedges. However, Yasmani Grandal could be had.

I'm looking for someone in their early 20's. I think Swihart is 21 and Vasquez is just 23 if I'm not mistaken. Basically someone that will be a good player for a long time to play with Kris Bryant and Javier Baez when they get called up.

Not a lot of young catchers in the league with high upside, and when there is, they're untouchable. Gary Sanchez is an iffy subject, as the Yankees are known to deal prospects for MLB talent. But they seem to like Sanchez, alot.

I know, that's why I'd give up just about anything to get one. I had scouted an A (99 potential) catcher prior to the draft and I had the fifth overall pick. When I saw the first four teams didn't take him I though I had my guy. That is until he wasn't in the draft pool. I guess he just didn't enter the draft, which is kind of cool. Either that or there was some kind of glitch. I wonder if he'll be available to scout again next season.

Was he fully scouted? If so that's strange. I would pair Baez + Rizzo with a good young OF or 2B instead of catcher since you can get production there from almost anyone. Also in some cases cheaper than your Posey's, Molina's and co.

Yeah, he was fully scouted. There were a number of scouted players that were not in the draft. I just assumed that some players don't go into the draft.
