From what I hear, the Yankees are actually really down on Gary Sanchez this year. He's got some legit make-up concerns as far as effort and desire goes. He also probably isn't going to stay behind the plate because he's way too slow foot work wise and he's huge for the catcher position. Of course, you don't have to worry about that on The Show but it definitely will impact his availability right now.

Right now basically just like Jesus Montero was at this stage. His whole projection lies in his bat and ability to improve at the catcher position. I do think Sanchez will be a nice big leaguer but he doesn't really have a clear spot in New York with Brian McCann behind the dish and the DH spot pretty much locked up. He's also too slow to play the outfield. I think if given the right players, the Yankees would trade Sanchez. They're going to need something significant in return... preferably pitching.

Good catching is really hard to come by. You have guys who are great defenders with no bat and you have guys who can smack the ball a country mile but look like a duck out of water behind the dish. There aren't too many guys in between and those that can do both well usually are extremely valuable assets. It would probably be best to draft a catcher instead of trade for one because you're going to pay a big price talent wise.

I've heard that sound 3 times... once was Babe Ruth, the second was Josh Gibson, and the third was Bo Jackson- Buck O'Neil

I'm going to wait until late July to pull the trigger but as it stands right now I'll likely deal Samardzija to Boston for Swihart, Betts, and Brentz if you guys think that's a fair deal. That will give me a high-prospect catcher that I'm looking for and a good prospect at second that I'll need when Barney's gone.

Hedges ended up being my one truly unrealistic trade with the Cubs, I packaged Samardijza with Strop and B pot Outfielder who's name i cant recall, for Hedges and Matt Wisler.

Quick question: How do you know if a guy you're trading for, or is on your team, is arb eligible? For example: Guys like Eric Hosmer and some others say they're only on a 1-year deal when I look at their player card. Am I missing where the exact contract details are? Or are the contracts just messed up in the game?

You can tell from MLB service time. < 6 years or > 3 years is arb eligible. There is the super 2 though which is explained in the show. It also tells you under contract details when you look at a player (press triangle on the player and R1 a few times)

Arb eligible guys usually have 3 years of ML service time. If a guy on your team has 2 years of service time at the beginning of the year, expect him to become arb eligible in the next off season.

Although Betts could move to CF seeing as Almora isn't doing anything and they have no mlb ready OFs outside of Bryant.

I would much rather keep Mookie at second if he ever got traded.
