I need a little input:
I play 30 team control franchise. After playing a calendar day of games I check out what potential trades are going down in the Transactions screen. If I think that the trade isn't very realistic I delete the trade offer.

Here's the issue...it's July 2nd and the Pirates are offering the Blue Jays the following:

To Blue Jays
OF-Gregory Polanco (A)
SP-Tyler Glasnow (A)
1B-Gaby Sanchez-Vet

To Pirates
1B-Edwin Encarnacion

Both teams are only 3 games out of 1st place. I think it's a great offer for the Blue Jays, but I can't see them trading their cleanup hitter for prospects, even if they are great prospects. I also can't imagine the Pirates trading Polanco.

What do you think?

Man, I was gonna trade Harrell for Giolito.

The Red Sox have some B potential prospects at the catching position. Blake Swihart and Christian Vazquez are both young, good catching prospects. What do you guys think it would take to get one of those if I'm the Cubs?

Or maybe Gary Sanchez from the Yankees?

Depends. How are the Sox doing? I don't see them trading both of those prospects, as our two current catchers are 37 y/o.

Depends. How are the Sox doing? I don't see them trading both of those prospects, as our two current catchers are 37 y/o.

The Red Sox are currently 37-37 and 7 games out of first in the AL East. And I don't want both catchers, just one of them.

Also, just for reference because I'm all about realism, here's Hammel's stats so far in my franchise (currently June 21).

In 15 starts he is 3-4 with a 3.97 ERA. He's pitched 88.1 innings, given up 71 hits, struck out 62 and walked 22 batters.

Blake Swihart (Double-A) is hitting .293 in 181 at-bats, including 8 doubles, 2 home runs, and 22 RBIs.

Christian Vazquez (Triple-A) is hitting .311 in 222 at-bats including 10 doubles, 3 home runs, and 29 RBIs.

I'm really not sure what catcher I would want but I'd lean towards Vazquez since he's still only 23 and would probably be more MLB-ready in a year or two.

Realistically, I don't see either getting traded to the Cubs unless for Samardzija. Vazquez is a defense minded C, with an up and down offense. I feel Sweeney should be added, but feel it might be an overpay. I say Vazquez+Villareal for Hammel+Sweeney sounds fair.

Ok guys made it to July 13th and I'm still set in stone to move Samardzija (since I won't be resigning him), Starlin is still hitting well but I'd rather bring Baez (AAA .287 11 HR 45 RBI) & Bryant (AAA .290 14 HR 60 RBI) up, and Rizzo (same as Starlin, bringing Bryant up). Here are 4/5 trades I want to do to help me in the long run with the Cubs. Not doing the mega trade. Also not going for realism per se as trading 2 young assets like Castro & Rizzo who are under control for cheap is well unrealistic.

Here are the players I want to move to help with the rebuilding process, current record of mine is (40-56)

1.SP Jeff Samardzija (8-8 2.11 ERA 109.2 IP 122 K's) & SS Starlin Castro (.272 6 HR 45 RBI)

Reason for trading them: Samardzija will walk as a free agent and can help out a contender, Starlin and I don't mesh well. Baez will be taking his spot, hit 10x better with Baez than Starlin. Also a package of them together should get me more back. Pitching market is slim as most teams are still in the race, and those with Aces like: Lee & Price wouldn't be selling this summer. Can trade them individually or just Samardzija but my #1 target is Urias and I doubt trading only Samardzija can get me Urias.

Top 3 destinations & possible trade targets:

1.Los Angeles Dodgers (55-42 .5 back of SF) they could use another SP since Ryu (9-1 4.11 ERA 126 IP 90 K's), Beckett (7-5 4.81 ERA 118.2 IP 104 K's) and Haren (4-9 5.35 ERA 110.2 IP 70 K's) are struggling. Ryu not so much W-L per se, but his ERA has climbed from 2.88 to 4.11 in the past month (all against playoff like teams). Starlin would slot into SS and Hanley (.229 15 HR 47 RBI) move to 3rd. Uribe (.205 8 HR 28 RBI would move to the bench). Can throw in Veras since Kenley (2-3 5.01 ERA 32.1 IP 24 SV) and SU Paco Rodriguez (1-4 5.44 ERA 41.1 IP 46 K's) are struggling as well. Veras can either set up or close for them if Kenley continues to struggle.

Potential deal:

Dodgers get Samardzija + Starlin + Veras

Cubs get SP Julio Urias (AA 5-9 3.23 ERA 103 IP 95 K's) + SP Zach Lee (AAA 5-10 3.95 ERA 118.1 IP 100 K's) + 2B Dee Gordon (.158 0 HR 0 RBI) + 3B Corey Seager (AA .296 4 HR 27 RBI). Can do a package of Urias + other prospects if this is too much

The Dodgers get Samardzija to slot into their #3 spot, Ryu would go to #4 and Beckett their #5. Would give them 4 great options for October. Starlin would allow the Dodgers to have a very good IF (hitting wise) by moving Hanley to 3rd. Uribe has been atrocious and Hanley hasn't been hitting great, avg wise.. Another bat in the lineup to compete for the division title with the Giants. Would also be able to resign Hanley at 3B and have Starlin be their shortstop. Samardzija is probably the best pitcher available so multiple teams would be interested, Dodgers would want the chance to steal him away from San Fran imo. As a bonus the Dodgers can resign him with their billion dollar budget.

2.Boston Red Sox (45-50 8 GB out of both the division and WC) Need some sort of spark as they're beginning to fall out of the race for both the division and WC. Their rotation has been a mess behind Lester, ERA's of (4.45, 4.17, 4.25, and 4.57) they can really use a couple of starters. As for hitting Herrera is hitting (.235 2 HR 24 RBI), Bogaerts (.215 5 HR 19 RBI) and Middlebrooks (.252 16 HR 52 RBI).

Potential deal:

Sox get Samardzija + Castro + Arrieta

Cubs get SP Trey Ball (AAA 4-0 2.42 ERA 44.2 IP 38 K's) + 2B Mookie Betts (AAA .266 5 HR 26 RBI) + SP Allen Webster (2-2 3.27 ERA 55 IP 46 K's) + 3B Sean Coyle (AA .282 4 HR 37 RBI) + SP Cody Kukuk (AA 6-1 4.25 ERA 72 IP 56 K's)

Would move Bogaerts down to AAA and slot Starlin at SS. Can move Middlebrooks or Bogaerts + more for more pitching help. Samardzija would be able to resign here as well.

3.Minnesota Twins (2nd place 48-47 4.5 GB of DET, 5 of WC) this one I'm not sure about, do they go for it and try to catch Detroit or a WC spot? Their rotation has been ok thus far but Samardzija would be the Ace they need. They have Pedro Florimon (.260 7 HR 27 RBI) playing SS since Santana (.255 1 HR 9 RBI) is struggling at AAA. Their best hitter behind Mauer is C Josmil Pinto (.311 9 HR 18 RBI). Can definitely use another bat. RF Oswaldo Arcia (.199 14 HR 43 RBI) has outplayed LF Jason Kubel (.203 6 HR 30 RBI). Can definitely use an OF aka RF Nate Shierholtz (.281 6 HR 25 RBI) as well.

Potential deal:

Twins get Samardzija + Castro + Shierholtz

Cubs get SP Jose Berrios (AA 10-7 3.63 ERA 129 IP 103 K's) + SP Kohl Stewart (AA 3-8 4.95 ERA 112.2 IP 96 K's) + CP Zack Jones (AA 0-1 2.49 ERA 25.1 IP 25 SV) + 3B Travis Harrison (AA .262 8 HR 43 RBI) + SP Trevor May (AAA 12-5 3.18 ERA 130.1 IP 156 K's)

Samardzija would go into their ace role, everyone else would be moved down and Scott Diamond (3-7 4.22 ERA 108.2 IP 48 K's) would be removed from the rotation. Starlin would be their new SS and Santana would/could be used for future trades or as an OF. Only negative, not sure if Samardzija would be able to resign here.

My preference: Obviously the LAD deal, Urias is one pitcher I wouldn't mind trading Starlin + Samardzija for.

2.1B Anthony Rizzo (.278 13 HR 46 RBI)

Reasons for trading him: Olt has done well himself (.268 11 HR 45 RBI) will have to move one of the two to bring Bryant up, Rizzo has played better but still not my cup of tea. That and he should bring back a larger return. Also drafted an A potential 1B with my 1st pick, ETA:2016 (mostly due to the name Manny Ramires, s instead of z but it will do ha).

Top 3 destinations & possible trade targets:

1.Seattle Mariners (50-45 tied for 1st in the West with the A's, same record. 3 out of the WC) Surprisingly still in the race and not looking like going away. Their offense while not anemic hasn't been great, specially at 1B. Smoak's numbers are: .214 3 HR 7 RBI. He has actually been demoted, playing 1B is Montero (.236 4 HR 22 RBI).

Potential deal:

M's get Rizzo + Hammel (can add more)

Cubs get SP Taijuan Walker (AAA 5-7 4.03 ERA 109.1 IP 106 K's) + SP Luiz Gohara (AA 4-8 3.88 ERA 74.2 IP 53 K's) + 1B Jesus Montero (.236 4 HR 22 RBI)

Rizzo would solve their anemic 1B spot and give them a bat to stay and the race. Hammel will also add to their pitching as they can win now. Pitching staff after Felix goes Iwakuma (6-5 4.51 ERA), Erasmo (6-4 3.93 ERA), Young (5-9 3.41 ERA), and Elias (5-7 4.03 ERA). Hammel would be the new #3 or even #2 if Iwakuma continues to struggle. Taijuan started out injured and has struggled at AAA, other young pitchers like Paxton, Hultzen and co. have been pitching well so they can afford to spare him for a young 1B like Rizzo.

2.Washington Nationals (1st 53-42 5 GA) Adam LaRoche (.169 2 HR 5 RBI) is struggling big time, back up 1B Matthew Skole (.251 2 HR 11 RBI) isn't doing much better. Rizzo would solve their 1B problems since they have no one in sight.

Potential Deal:

Nats get Rizzo

Cubs get SP Lucas Giolito (AA 9-7 3.22 ERA 137 IP 152 K's) + SP AJ Cole (AA 7-6 4.06 ERA 122 IP 100 K's) + RF Drew Vettleson (AA .284 9 HR 46 RBI)

Rizzo would obviously take over duties at 1B for years to come.

3.Blue Jays (5th 43-53 10.5 GB of both division and WC) not really in the playoff race but they could use a franchise-esque 1B if they try to move Edwin (.240 19 HR 54 RBI) for prospects or move him to DH full time.

Potential deal:

Jays get Rizzo (Can add more)

Cubs get SP Roberto Osuna (AA 4-3 6.97 ERA 71 IP 75 K's) + Aaron Sanchez (AAA 5-4 2.95 ERA 79.1 IP 97 K's) Can remove Sanchez for another prospect, huge fan of Osuna.

Lind (.242 11 HR 35 RBI) could be moved for prospects making room for Rizzo. Other players capable of playing 1B Erik Kratz (.230 12 HR 29 RBI). Edwin is currently out for another week. Could be moved or be full time DH.

My preference: Would love to move him to Seattle. I feel trading for Taijuan straight up would be close to fair, might need more back. Sending Hammel there would also give them a 2/3 behind the King. The M's are in the playoff race and could use all the help they can get. Can also add a bullpen guy like Strop to help them in the bullpen.

3.SP Jason Hammel (4-7 3.28 ERA 123.1 IP 96 K's) & SP Travis Wood (5-8 2.26 ERA 119.2 IP 84 K's)

Spoiler

Reasons for trading them: Same as the guys below, 1 year contract. Trying to sell high with both, feel Wood's numbers should get me a good return. Can package them to one team in need of starters or sell individually. Can also send one in the deal with Rizzo as Seattle could use another starter.

Top 3 destinations & possible trade scenarios:

1.Tampa Bay Rays (1st 54-43 2 GA) no need to trade Price away since they're in contention could use another pitcher for the run though. Matt Moore (6-7 3.45 ERA 130.2 IP 135 K's) and Jeremy Hellickson (7-3 3.92 ERA 124 IP 78 K's) have played well but Bedard (5-8 4.17 ERA 90.2 IP 85 K's) the #4 has been awful. Could use Wood as a #3 or #4 come playoffs time. Archer + Cobb are out for the year.

Potential deal:

Rays get Wood + SP Kyle Hendricks (AAA 6-5 3.94 ERA 118.2 IP 91 K's) + Junior Lake (can add more if need be, feel that Jennings value has taken a hit nay?)

Cubs get CF Desmond Jennings (.189 0 HR 16 RBI)

Jennings has been relegated to bench duties as DeJesus (.299 14 HR 50 RBI) is killing it at the moment. Can add a prospect or two to even it out. With Wood playing out of this world this season I don't know how to gauge even value.

2.San Francisco Giants (1st 55-41 .5 ahead of the Dodgers) Vogelsong is out for the year and Hudson is lost for most of the season (will be back in mid September). Both of them went down in the same week (July 6th & 8th respectively). The 4&5's at the moment are Mike Kickham (0-1 7.13 ERA 3 IP 0 K's) & Yusmeiro Petit (0-2 5.99 ERA 9 IP 2 K's) Crick is struggling at AAA (4-11 4.11 ERA 98.2 IP 99 K's) so bringing him up to a playoff race might be a no no.

Potential deal:

Giants get Wood + Hammel

Cubs get SP Edwin Escobar (AAA 4-7 6.24 ERA 106.2 IP 102 K's) + SP Adalberto Mejia (AA 8-7 2.83 ERA 114.2 IP 104 K's) + LF Mac Williamson (AA .284 2 HR 13 RBI)

Again not sure how to gauge value, that plus the Giants farm is a disaster minus Crick (potential wise as he has been dead awful as well).

3.New York Yankees (3rd 51-44 2 GB of both division and WC) Kuroda (9-5 5.09 ERA 109.2 IP 55 K's) & Pineda (6-6 4.03 ERA 116 IP 109 K's) have not been playing well as of late. Kuroda has lost his starting spot, already a 72, to Phelps (1-4 4.89 ERA 46 IP 30 K's) who isn't doing much better. Nova (5-6 4.77 ERA 71.2 IP 35 K's) follows the trend of awful pitching. They need starters pronto.

Potential deal:

Yanks get Wood + Hammel

Cubs get SP Luis Severino (AA 7-5 4.22 ERA 113 IP 79 K's) + CF Slade Heathcott (AAA .281 6 HR 39 RBI) + RP Dellin Betances (AA 3-1 3.86 ERA 44.1 IP 40 K's)

Wood + Hammel would become #3 & #4, Nova + Phelps would be moved or sent down to AAA for the time being. Yanks farm system is a mess, not sure what fair value would be tbh as Wood is playing out of his mind.

Preference: Deal #1. Would like to move Hammel to Seattle, thus moving Wood out to Tampa to help them out as they got hit with the injury bug hard. Btw Jennings has 344 AB's thus far. Other OF's playing better than him RF Wil Myers (.338 22 HR 72 RBI) and LF Matt Joyce (.254 7 HR 30 RBI).

4.1B Kendrys Morales (.277 21 HR 50 RBI)

Reasons for trading him: Sell high, plus 1 year deal.

Top 3 teams & potential trade scenarios:

1.Oakland A's (1st 50-45 tied with Seattle, 3 out of the WC) currently have Donaldson (.260 10 HR 49 RBI) playing DH and Nakajima (.175 2 HR 6 RBI) playing 3B. Bench isn't much better C Vogt (.125 0 HR 1 RBI) C Norris (.195 3 HR 19 RBI), SS Punto (.250 0 HR 10 RBI), CF Fuld (.292 1 HR 9 RBI). Can move Kendrys here to DH and give Moss some rest as well.

Potential deal:

A's get Kendrys + Wright

Cubs get SP Michael Ynoa (AA 4-5 3.33 ERA 116.1 IP 126 K's) + RF Aaron Shipman (AA .333 1 HR 6 RBI) + LF Bobby Crocker (AA .259 12 HR 48 RBI)

Kendrys would go straight to help them out, Wesley Wright will go into the pen as they have 3 LRP at the moment Lindblom (0-1 5.24 ERA 22.1 IP 21 K's), Milone (1-0 2.43 ERA 33.1 IP 23 K's) and Chavez (7-1 3.13 ERA 54.2 IP 50 K's). Would send Lindblom down. Kendrys is on a 1 year contract so mainly getting him to help this year.

2.Los Angeles Angels (4th 45-50 5 GB, 8 GB of WC) have had a bunch of injuries that they have Ian Stewart (.253 3 HR 19 RBI) playing RF. Ibañez (.239 12 HR 46 RBI) has done well at DH, but they might need an upgrade there and Kendrys can play 1B as well or if need be RF.

Angels get Kendrys + Jackson

Cubs get SP Mark Sappington (AAA 5-2 2.60 ERA 65.2 IP 40 K's) + CF Chevy Clarke (AA .227 3 HR 33 RBI) + RP Michael Kohn (AAA 0-1 0.88 ERA 30.2 IP 31 SV)

They need pitching help as well; Richards (5-6 4.97 ERA 105 IP 63 K's), Santiago (5-2 4.22 ERA 102.1 IP 70 K's) and Skaggs (6-7 4.03 ERA 111.2 IP 80 K's) may not keep them in the playoff hunt. Jackson can replace Richards for the time being at the #4 spot. Kendrys obviously would be the DH/RF/1B option for the Halos.

3.Baltimore Orioles (2nd 53-42 tied with the Jays, 2nd WC spot) currently have Reimold (.224 5 HR 20 RBI) as a DH for RHP. Could use an upgrade there platooning Cruz/Kendrys at DH. Can give Davis some days off at 1B as well.

Potential deal:

O's get Kendrys

Cubs get C Michael Ohman (AA .247 0 HR 14 RBI) + SS Adrian Marin (AA .272 2 HR 26 RBI)

Ohman has been struggling at AA while Marin has been playing beyond expectations. Kendrys would be all but another asset for the O's to compete against the Rays & Yanks.

My preference: Oakland, like Ynoa even if he isn't playing lights out at AA like Sappington is at AAA.

5.CP Jose Veras (0-1 2.03 ERA 26.2 IP 27 SV)

Reasons for trading him: Sell high.

Top 3 teams & potential trade scenarios:
1.Dodgers. Need the bullpen help and would go nicely with the Samardzija + Starlin package.

2.Seattle Mariners, can be included in the Rizzo deal. SU for Seattle thus far Farquhar (2-4 4.32 ERA) and Beimel (1-0 5.59 ERA) have not been helping out Rodney. Veras would go into a set up role rather than closing.

3.Detroit Tigers (1st 52-42 4.5 GA) current SU guys are Krol (0-2 5.16 ERA) and Alburquerque (1-1 3.68 ERA). Veras would go in there to help get the ball to Nathan.

Potential deal:

Tigers get Veras

Cubs get 3B Steven Fuentes (AA .295 6 HR 41 RBI)

Preference: Dodgers one, 2nd Tigers one.

Others that I'd consider throwing into trades: SP Edwin Jackson (6-10 3.15 ERA 128.2 IP 93 K's), RP Wesley Wright (1-2 3.60 ERA 30 IP 28 K's), RF Nate Shierholtz (.281 6 HR 25 RBI) and SP Jake Arrieta (3-10 3.80 ERA 111.1 IP 84 K's)

Scenarios 1&2 aren't realistic at all, I know but I've got excess of IF players and I'd rather move Starlin + Rizzo for young pitchers as I don't trust Edwards and Co. Going mostly for young players that can aid this rebuild, most of my young pitchers haven't been playing well. Edwards has his good days, but mostly bad days thus far. That's why I'm seeking an insertion of young pitchers. Also Jennings that has been really bad, let me know if that one works. For Kendrys would like to get him to Oakland, they need help badly as Nakajima has been awful for them. There non-existent bench as well.

Do apologize for the length been playing this one non-stop (sportscast manager is cool, but I miss the old MVP baseball type managing sim), probably my favourite of the 3 that I currently have. For some odd reason the Cubs have been fun to play with, probably since I feel too attached to the Yanks one being my favourite team and all. Going for fairness and not realism.

So the trades I want to find a way to get done are:

I think the reason the dogers made this trade was to clear some money bc I wound up taking back 5.5 million in salary.

So thoughts? Hopefully this helps my terrible pitching rotation.
