Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

Im 48-50 and currently 3 GB in the AL Central. With trade deadline approaching, I think I am going to go for it this year and make some moves. Teams that are way out of the race:

    Phillies 40-56
    Mets 38-58
    Marlins 37-59
Pirates 38-58 ( I traded Wandy Rodriguez to the Indians for C level OF Prospect)
    Giants 41-56

Im looking for a front end RH SP to go with Sale and Quintana. I would also like a C with a pulse as Flowers, Nieto, and Phegley amount to a dumpster fire pretty much.

Two players I would really like to add are Curtis Granderson and Dillon Gee. Any ideas or thoughts?

    Thanks.

Edit: Just looked at the spreadsheet, scratch Granderson as it would be phony on my part. I still would like to get Gee and a veteran C, say Carlos Ruiz from the Phillies?

I can definitely use Ethier's 91 Contact to help me get some runs since we're in the bottom 5 in runs scored. The start of my pitching rotation is currently the worst (2-11) where the bottom of my rotation is red hot (12-4). I'll give these guys time to get their groove back and won't trade for a pitcher. However, I'm really looking into Andre Ethier. Any thoughts?
If it was me I would hold onto Perkins until at least the deadline. At that point there are a lot of Closer starved teams probably willing to pay a little more and he will help you out in the interm. I would look at the Tigers and Orioles as possible landing spots. As for Either you will be adding a decent amount of salary so something like Burton + Kepler (Still in the low minors so not bad even though the Dodgers are loaded in the OF)

        Who'd replace Perkins at closer?

I agree with mgcst that your haul could be bigger by the deadline. If not, Burton+Kepler would definitely do the trick

Ruiz will probably retire with the phillies after signing that extension over the winter. What about Russell Martin instead? He's on an expiring contract and wouldn't cost more than a somewhat decent prospect along the lines of Snodgress, Ortiz, Walker, Jaye or Jacobs.

The Mets could use a SS. Any interest in moving Beckham to Queens and have him shift back to SS in exchange for Gee?

Replacing a closer isn't really too important, you can pick up guys pretty cheap

Russell Martin is injured right now, I thought about him soon after my post. Maybe Saltalamachia? Id rather not move Beckham, he's hitting .338 and in a division race I highly doubt the Sox would move Beckham. However, I am not opposed to say Semien/Webb for Gee, how is that?

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

Hey all, I made a post a few pages ago about moving someone to get Brock Holt back with the Bucs, and from the looks of it, I'll probably be moving Travis Snider. With that being said I now need a short term OF, that will provide starting AB's at the top of the order until I call up Gregory Polanco in June.

I've been looking through players and I really would like to have Corey Dickerson, the thing is I know he's currently tearing it up and I'd hate to pay a ton for him. Bear in mind this is before the season has even started I would be making this trade. I'm looking to keep the backend of my bullpen in tact, and also hoping to keep a few starters as well since I will be manually injuring pitchers throughout the season just like they have been hurt in real life.

With that being said, there's not a lot I'd really like to move for him, but I would really like to have him. I was looking at moving Stolmy Pimental, or Jeanmar Gomez since I could then slide him right into my 25 man roster. I am open to suggestions though.-

Dickerson is very solid at the plate, he would be a good bat for you. The only problem is he's TERRIBLE defensively.

Drew Stubbs might be a better choice for you.

Or, Juan Pierre might still be in the free agent pool for you.

But, I want to avoid letting the season slip away from me and rather take care of the issue before it blows up. Also damn, other than the young and upcoming Buxton, Twins are weak on that outfield. However, I could offer Burton & Kepler before offering, Perkins. Thanks for the tip guys.

I feel the same way. Although Perkins is really good. I feel like I can replace him easily.

Salty's unrealistic since he signed the 3-4 year deal with the Marlins over the winter.

How about John Buck from the Mariners? JP Arencibia from Texas? Chris Iannetta from Anaheim? Josh Thole from Toronto? Ryan Doumit from Atlanta?

Dickerson will cost you more than Pimentel/Gomez but I get your point in trying to move someone off the 25 man to open a spot for him. Could you do Pimentel plus a prospect from the lower minors like Blake Taylor? The Rockies need pitching and even if Pimentel would help add some depth to the major league pen, an additional piece for their system would be nice.

I like the idea of Stubbs that was suggested. He mashes lefties and can run with the best of them

Perkins will probably get you the largest haul as a CP but if you don't find a package you like, he could always be moved as a SU to a contender

All good ideas, I called up switch hitting C Adrian Nieto, he will get some run the next 3 series against KC, Cle, and Detroit. If I do poorly, I will then probably go into sell mode and move Lindstrom, Boggs, Dunn, Ramirez, Keppinger and possibly Konerko and rebuild.

Ramirez could be used in a deal with the Mets for Gee.

Could George Kottaras work as a backup catcher? He's really cheap!
