Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

Hey guys im looking to start a new franchise season with the Tribe, but im looking to trade pieces for higher upside prospects that are ready in 2 years or so, im looking for a 3B and some pitching as I like a lot of the Indians young guys and new draft picks but we really don't have any high upside pitching besides bauer. so im looking to move anyone except Frazier, Lindor, Cody Allen, Papi, Zimmer, Naquin, Bauer, and F. Meija, that includes willing to move Kipnis, Brantley, Santana and Masterson.

Any help? I really need a 3B, 2B and upside SP. I would really like to get Baez and Bryant from the Cubs, make Baez a 2B. I would also like to get one of Miller or Wacha from STL And/or Zimmerman from Washington if I had to pick players I would prefer to trade for.

You had me hooked wanting to help you up until the bold part.

As a Cubs fan, you are not getting Baez or Bryant. Also as a Cubs fan who is jealous of all the young talent that always works out for STL, you ain't getting Wacha or Miller. Even if you don't care about realism, there really is nothing on your team worth these guys that you are willing to trade.

Which Zimmerman from Washington? One n or 2 n's? The 3B/OF or the SP?

Some 3B prospects that you have a chance of getting: Cecchini (Red Sox) or Gallo (Rangers)

Some 2B prospects: Alcantara (Cubs), Rosario (Twins), La Stella (Braves)

Pitching prospects: Biddle (Phillies), Sanchez (Blue Jays)

Just looking at this, a Jason Kipnis trade to Toronto could probably get you a nice haul of perhaps Aaron Sanchez + Mitch Nay + ??, but I'd hold off on that until our resident Blue Jays expert has a chance to see this.

Don't like this deal (especially the 'or Carlos Quentin caveat') for Houston. Cosart was very recently Houston's top pitching prospect.
As an Astros fan, I couldn't possibly agree more with you.

The thing about the Astros is, when it comes to their weakest positions at the majors (LF, SS, Pitching), they have some young guys in the minors that are moving their way up.

For instance, in the outfield, they have guys like Domingo Santana and Delino De Shields Jr. that will be in the majors within the end of next season. At shortstop, they have Carlos Correa. He might be two years away, but they aren't going to get anyone that has the possibility of keeping him in the minors longer than he should be. And for pitching, they have Mark Appel, Mike Foltynewicz, Asher Wojciechowski, Josh Hader, Lance McCullers, Vincent Velasquez, Micheal Feliz, etc.

Giving them something to try to fill those positions doesn't really help the Astros at all.

A couple weeks into my Marlins season and I need a speedster to come off the bench and steal some bags for me. I don't need a big name just someone to enter late in the game who I could get relatively cheap. Also maybe a left handed power hitter because I currently have no lefties coming off the bench to hit. Any suggestions would be great

Speedsters: Tony Campana (ARZ, mid C), Quintin Berry (BAL, low C), Jemile Weeks (BAL, high C), Nyjer Morgan (CLE, low C), Drew Stubbs (COL, high C), Jarrod Dyson (KC, high C)

Cheap LHB with some power: Brett Wallace (BAL, high D), Nate Schierholtz (Cubs, high C), Marc Krauss (HOU, low C), Brennan Boesch (LAA, low C), Lyle Overbay (MIL high D), Lucas Duda (Mets, high C), Seth Smith (SD, mid C), Mitch Moreland (TEX, high C + low C), Juan Francisco (TOR, high C)

A couple of intriguing options that would cost a bit more (high C + mid C), but give you some speed and left-handed hitting would be Will Venable (SD) and John Jay (STL).

What are some good landing spots for Austin Jackson? Looking to unload him this offseason.

His stats: .285 AVG, 15 HR, 45 RBI as of August 6

If it's in the 2014 offseason, after this season, check out the Jays. They'll likely have an OF opening if Melky or Rasmus leaves.

I don't have an opinion, but try searching the thread. This Cliff Lee to the Dodgers idea has been discussed and discussed and...you get the idea.

The link for the spreadsheet is in the first post of this thread.

Look around, try searching and see if you can find all the previous Cliff Lee trade talk.

I'll just drop in and ask for advice on a bunch of potential deals.

Mike Olt for John Stilson (A-grade relief prospect, dials it up to about 101) and Chase DeJong (young but polished, solid #3 potential)

Mike Fiers for A.J. Jimenez (good defensive catcher, literally never going to hit) and Tom Robson (one of the better ground-ball generators in professional baseball)

Alex Wood for Richard Urena (good bat, gonna stick at short) and D.J. Davis (former first rounder, 80 grade speed, 65 glove, fringe above average power)

Corey Dickerson for Sean Nolin (young lefty with incredible minor league numbers, good fit in COL)

Garrett Richards for Sean Nolin, Tom Robson and D.J. Davis

                            Thoughts?

Other than the Garrett Richards one, they're all fine. Richards is gonna need a better 2nd pitching prospect in that deal. Nolin + someone better than Robson + Davis should work.
