Believe me, by the time Texas decided to deal Olt, he was no longer among their top prospects. He's batting .152 for the Cubs. This guy is really not panning out at all.
Wasn't he supposed to be great defensively? Pretty bad. I mean, he's been horribly unlucky, with a sub.160 BABIP - actually, no, he's been very lucky lol, he's got a 21.7 HR/FB rate and a 10.2 LD% justifies the BABIP. 36.5% K%. So much for the eye correction.

The Texas trade is certainly realistic.

Yeah, I don't mean to rehash anything, but I think I remember arguing pretty strongly against Olt being all that and a bag of chips last season, when others were piling on with a different viewpoint, lol.

Just in general, if you can't see, you're unlikely to be a good hitter. A general rule I live by for analyzing prospects.

He had legitimate medical concerns. I really thought they'd get it fixed. Guess not.

Ok just lost Uribe for 3 months. Don't really need lee this early. Maybe just being in Rollins or a 3rd baseman. Any ideas?

The Texas package is probably the most realistic and gives incredible value. Gallo will be ready by next season. The Cecch/Betts package is nice too. But you can't really turn down the TEX one.
I love Castellanos, I traded him to the Braves eight games ago and he's hit .294 2 HRs and 7 RBIs out of the two spot. He's only 21 and he's got a lot of time to develop a little more pop in his bat. I see him as a franchise 3B.

Haha I remember that. If I remember correctly it was an Olt for Papelbon argument lol. Good times on the trade discussion

Zach Lee for Rollins, move Hanley to 3B. Problem solved.

FYI, this isn't realistic unless you are late in the season, Jimmy Rollins has already broken Mike Schmidt's franchise hits record, and the Phillies are out of it.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

Sup guys, just got to the trade deadline in my 30 team franchise. Gonna make some trades but I'm not very familiar with a lot of the teams systems, so i have some questions on who it would take to make some fair trades.

1st trade I'm thinking of his Jason Hammel to the Royals. Cubs are way out of it and he's doing okay but not great with a 4.10 ERA. Royals are right in the thick of it in the AL central but need some better pitching. what would be fair for both teams in this trade?

2nd trade is Ryan Howard and Papelbon to the Brew Crew. Howard is hitting around .240 with 25 homers and Papelbon is having a good year, and the Breweres really need some pop and help in the bullpen. What would the brewers have to give up to get those two?

The last trade im thinking of is Yunel Escobar to the Giants. They really need an infielder as Crawford and Scutaro are struggling. Escobar is batting around .280 and would easily start over those two. What would it take for the Giants to get him?

                    Thanks for any responses!

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

September CPU trade, both teams out of contention:

                      Reds Give:
                      Cueto: 11-9 2.97 ERA 1.08 WHIP 123 K's 191 IP

                      Mariners Give:
Austin Wilson (A POT 22 year old RF) .255 23 HR 35 RBI 200 ABs in AAA

My thoughts here in not undoing this is that maybe the Reds see their contention window closing and move Cueto who's contract was ending for an A POT RF who could take over in left for Heisey or Ludwick next year. Also, the M's see themselves in full contention mode for next year and will look to lock up Cueto long term so they can start contending. What do you guys think?

Yeah that's the one concern I had as well. What do you think of me sending Dom Brown, who cleared trade waivers, to the Tigers? They lead the Central by 4 games but are only 69-69, which could spell trouble for the playoffs. Brown is hitting .250 with 25 HR and 58 RBI, .296 OBP and .472 SLUG%. The low RBI total is mainly just from a lack of base runners all year. Detroit's current corner OF is Dirks, who's hitting .246 with 9 HR and 44 RBI with a .306 OBP and .353 SLUG%. In RF they have a declining Hunter who's hitting .247 with 15 HR and 65 RBI, .300 OBP and .414 Slug%. Don Kelly and Rajai Davis have very similar numbers off the bench, hitting in the .270 in limited Abs with 6 and 4 HRs a piece and around 25 RBI each. And they have JD MArtinez is double A hitting in the .230s. I'd be willing to give up Brown cheap too because I'm trying to make room for Pederson. Obviously Byrd would be a more preferable guy to move but with his mediocre production and age I thought the Tigers might want Brown more. And while Brown is really my only consistent offensive threat, I really want to get another prospect or 2 to add to our future.

EDIT: Shoot, can't move Brown after August 31st... completely forgot. Maybe in the offseason haha. Sorry about that!

Yeah, I'd imagine they'd have interest You could send him to Detroit for... eh, I dunno, honestly.

If you wanted a larger farm to choose from the Jays have a nice farm but you'd have to wait until the offseason and hope they don't resign Lind and/or Melky.
