Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Maybin is still young, and the Astros are actually a decent team right now. Cosart's market value is inflated beyond what his actual value is, so the Astros would probably be willing to sell."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I ended up starting a Marlins Franchise, and I only just finished April, so this is more of a 2015 offseason move.
Here's who I am looking to acquire from the Pirates:
Josh Harrison, LF/IF
Andrew Lambo, 1B/RF
For the above trade, I would like to make Jacob Turner as sort of the main piece, if possible. He has struggled this year IRL, and was recently demoted to the bullpen. But, he is still young and has a lot of talent. I am also willing to include prospects and/or MLB players.

As an alternative, and just for curiosity, who along with Josh Harrison do you think I could get in return for Henderson Alvarez - who is having a really good season, and under team control for quite a while?
Obviously, I am eyeing some of the bigger names: Josh Bell, Alen Hanson, and Nick Kingham - as well as possibly Luis Heredia. More interested in the position players (and I figure Glasnow is off limits), but I am not sure what Alvarez's worth is to the Pirates. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!Last edited by Coper3000; 06-20-2014, 10:37 AM.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
As the Astros, I took advantage of the Phillies need to rebuild by getting Revere, Papelbon, and Bastardo for a couple prospects.
I then traded Revere and Papelbon to the Reds for Chapman. I feel guilty about this. Would the Reds ever do that? Considered trading him back for those two guys and Marshall.Comment

I really wish they'd cut out teams giving up young players even though they are rebuilding. I can get Dominic Brown for near nothing for example.Comment

MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I'm the Indians and I'm looking to upgrade my RF for a playoff run. I have a couple options since I plan to call Lindor up sometime in August. I don't have any problems putting runs up, but fielding has been a bit of an issue so I'd like to get a decent hitter who is a very good fielder. I've got plenty of Leftys so I'd like to target a right handed batter or switch hitter.
1- Giants are out of the race so I could target Pagan or Pence.
2- Once Lindor is up, switch Asdrubel to 3B and rotate Chisenhall, Swisher, Santana btw 1B, RF and DH (makes my infield D stronger but hurts OF defense). With Santana's arm he has potential to be a decent Rf in my opinion though, atleast serviceable atleast.
3- Chris Young from the Mets could be a nice cheap option.
Looking for help evaluating my best option. If you think trading for one of these three guys I mentioned (Pence, Pagan, Young) would be smart and realistic please recommend a trade package. Prospects I don't mind moving are Anderson, Kime, Paulino, Haase, Moncrief, or any other pitching prospect other than Bauer. Thanks in advance!
I don't know much about the Giants, who would be a more realistic target btw Pence and Pagan? I know Pagan has a three year deal in game and Pence is in final year, but I don't know if they view one or both as cornerstone guys that they are very unlikely to trade in the near future.

I'd say Alvarez (or Turner) could fetch you Harrison and Bryan Morris/Jose Tabata.
Alvarez comes with slightly higher value than Turner.
You won't get any of the quality prospects you mentioned unless you deal Stanton or Hechavarria (as the Pirates need a SS)Former modder of "Ultimate Rosters" for MVP Baseball 2005.

Pence signed a 5 year deal (?) IRL so he won't be moved. If Gary Brown is playing well in AAA I could see Pagan being moved. Would cost you a higher rated prospect or two lesser ones.
Chris Young is a cheap option like you mentioned. Would also offer some speed off the bench the days he's sitting out (just like Pagan).
Hard to speculate in names as we don't know what teams are out of it but out of pure speculation:
Ichiro, Marlon Byrd, Carlos Quentin, Chris Denorfia, Andre Ethier, Michael Saunders, Coco Crisp (reunion with the Tribe) or Chris HeiseyFormer modder of "Ultimate Rosters" for MVP Baseball 2005.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I'm at the trade deadline in my d-backs franchise. We are top of the nl west and I'm looking to upgrade my clean up spot becuase trumbo has been awful. The only teams out of wildcard contention are the white sox, Astros, pirates, marlins, cubs, Rockies, and mets (all at least 10 games out). Carlos Beltran is on the block so what would I have to give up for him? Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance."You play to win the game."Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
2. Cameron Maybin is a poor man's Dexter Fowler. He does not add anything to Houston's young OF they don't already have. No need to block a guy like Domingo Santana from emerging later this year or next
Don't like this deal (especially the 'or Carlos Quentin caveat') for Houston. Cosart was very recently Houston's top pitching prospect.

I have to agree. I can't imagine they'd trade him for most anyone. I tend not to like using him in the game. For whatever reason, his style gets rocked when I use him.

Some of your more realistic options would be: Chris Carter (HOU), Adam Dunn (CHW), Michael Cuddyer (COL).
