Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

It's June 24th in my Yankees Franchise and I'm sitting at 46-30 (in a first place tie with TOR). I need a releif pitcher to come in before Robertson and Aceves.

NYM, HOU, KC, PHI, BAL, and MIN are way out of contention.

Any suggestions? When I ask, know that I use SCEA rosters so essentially I was thinking you could give me a name to trade for and tell me what kind of prospects and how many it would take. Realism is key for me!!!

Valverde (NYM) seems like a decent fit and he's not pitching too well. I was thinking 2 C prospects but I'm not sure.

Jesse Crain (HOU) would be awesome but he's pitching really well and I'm afraid what it might cost me.

Carlos Marmol (MIA) possibly. He's struggling but could help.

Jim Johnson (OAK) would be great. He's dominating but OAK is 9.5 back in the wildcard so I'm afraid it's too soon for them. Maybe not?

Anyway, player names and prospect costs would be really appreciated. I never really trust my self and what's fair.

So this is me thinking for the future. I'm the Reds and I'm sure I will have Stephenson in the rotation next season. I want to lock Cueto down, and will do whatever it takes this offseason. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I can get for Latos, because I won't be able to keep them both.
What if signatures didn't mean anything?

If you're not looking to give up a lot I'd steer clear of Crain, especially if he's pitching well as the Astros would probably ask for a decent return. Valverde and Marmol are effectively wild, and if you can handle a few walks then Marmol might be a nice fit. Jim Johnson might also be nice but you might have to give up a little more than for someone like Marmol. Personally, I'd go for the cheaper option in Marmol and maybe give up an Austin Romine, Aaron Judge, or Slade Heathcott (although you may want to hang onto him). Judge really only has raw power and I don't know how well that would project in the majors, but I would think a team like the Marlins would take whatever they could get if Marmol is struggling, especially a decent power guy. But if you don't want to give up Judge, which is understandable because raw power projects well in New York's stadium, Romine for a cheaper reliever like Mitchell Boggs from the White Sox? The white sox have had some underperforming catchers since Pierzynski left and Romine might be a nice plug in or a backup guy for them, and Boggs would be a pretty good middle relief option for you I would think. Hope this helps!

CPU just made a trade in my franchise, and I normally just undo them since they're so bad, but this one looked fairly reasonable. Dodgers sent Ethier and Chris Withrow to LAA for Kaleb Cowart and Dane De La Rosa. Angel's bullpen was kinda struggling so I feel like Withrow can actually make an immediate impact, and Ethier gets plugged right into the OF. While Cowart doesn't really fit a need for the Dodgers, he's still a fair return for Ethier in my opinion. What do you guys think, should I keep this one or undo it?

Ethier is currently hitting .283 with 7 HR's and 21 RBIs half way through May

Well you gotta realize that 80 contact is in relation to the rest of the league who have high 80s, and 90s contact.

IRL Marmol was just released by the fish, so I think a price of free is fair. If you run 30-team, just release him with MIA and claim him with NYY. If not, lowball them with the worst offer they'll accept.

As a Cubs fan, I think Miami should PAY YOU to take him!

I don't think Arte Moreno would let them take on that type on contract for someone who's not a difference maker at this point. Ole Arte loves to make a splash, but only with big name value guys. Sure, Ethier is definitely a name out there, but I just don't think they'd do it. They probably let Boesch, Shuck, and Cowgill fight it out in a corner OF spot, maybe try Grant Green in the OF, or maybe sign a guy like Ibanez for cheaper.

Twins Franchise, pulled a trade with St Louis.

Traded away Kurt Suzuki (C-76) and Jose Berrios (B-62) for Tim Cooney (C-79) and Steve Bean (C-63).

Cooney is gonna start now and be Middle rotation, lefty SP i've been wanting with a power sinker. The highest rated SP i have on the roster right now. Was a little worried about trading Berrios but i have a decent stockpile of young guys A&B potential. See how it shakes out ..

Would trading Bruce Billings, Gary Sanchez and maybe a third player be a fair trade for Starlin Castro? Not sure if Sanchez is valued that high or if it is just bad trade logic lol

Sanchez would be a decent starting point but Billings has no business being part of any Castro trade.....you'd def need to include one or most likely, two more young promising pieces

Replace Bruce Billings with Heathcott/Williams & the third player can be Jose Ramirez or Rafael DePaula

As a Yankee fan, no way I give up Pineda, unless Im trading for a pitcher (Samardzija) but that's his decision lol

i would agree but imo, your farm system doesn't match up for a Castro trade outside of Sanchez
