What's the consensus value of Tulo with a marginal amount of salary being eaten? High A, Mid A, high B, low B is the spreadsheet but I'm interested in hearing the thread's opinions.

Same question for CarGo, who's spreadsheet value is Mid A, Low A, high B, low B. That seems high, honestly.

Tulo with little salary eaten by Rockies or team acquiring? If the Rockies are eating less of it then the other team, I see It Low A,Low A, High B, Mid B

If the Rockies are eating more than the team acquired, probably make that High B in his original value, another Low A IMO.

Thank you. When I first saw that I almost did a spit take. That is probably a little too high. I'd say Low A, High B, High B, Low B. He is actually pretty bad this year. While only 225 PA (epic SSS) his WAR is at replacement level. It could be considered an off year, as he has .301 BABIP, and he's held it at a steady .320+ throughout his career. If I do recall, the value I listed above was his from last year.

It's the beginning of May, and the Cubs have offered Addison Russell, and Javier Baez to the Red Sox for Jon Lester. I don't know what to make of this move. The Red Sox are in 4th at 15-14, and the Cubs are last at 11-16. I can see them maybe trading one, but not both of their SS prospects. Perhaps, Castro, and Junior Lake, or either Russell, or Baez and Soler for Lester? What do you guys think? Should I let the trade go as constructed, make changes to it, or just outright decline it?

It's the beginning of May, and the Cubbs have offered the Cubs Addison Russell, and Javier Baez to the Red Sox for Jon Lester. I don't know what to make of this move. The Red Sox are in 4th at 15-14, and the Cubs are last at 11-16. I can see them maybe trading one, but not both of their SS prospects. Perhaps, Castro, and Junior Lake, or either Russell, or Baez and Soler for Lester? What do you guys think? Should I let the trade go as constructed, make changes to it, or just outright decline it?

Outright decline it.

If the Cubs want Lester, they'll take their chances on him becoming a FA, not trade for him when they're not contending.

Also, it's May, too early to make any major moves.

I can think of about 100 other reasons the Cubs don't do it, but let's just stick with this.

Oh god. I love Jon Lester a lot, and it would take a lot to get him. But if I were the Sox, I would take this trade in a heartbeat.

If I'm the Cubs I'd keep all those position prospects + castro and rizzo and just pay for pitching in free agency. Cubs fans correct me if I'm wrong but I think they should have money to do that?

All those position players + signing a Scherzer/Lester next year and maybe a Price the year after while keeping Arietta would be something pretty special I think.

Completely agree. Once the Cubs actually see what they have in Russell and Baez at the MLB level I could see them trading maybe either of them or Castro for a top tier SP, but at this point why do it. They have money, and if they are smart they just use it to sign guy's like you mentioned as well as a few mid-tier rotation fillers that they can swing for more prospects after they have a solid season like they did with Hammel.

Everyone thinks the Cub's pitching is horrible, but Wood, Arietta, are good enough to be #2/#3 type starts so they really only need to use F.A. money to land them someone capable of being their #1.

It's not like their farm system is completely void of pitching talent either, they have guy's like CJ Edwards (#5), Pierce Johnson (#8), Paul Blackburn (#15 and their 2012 1st round pick), plus guy's like K. Hendricks (#16) and C. Black (#17) who project as #4/#5 SP's as well.

To me once they figure out the IF and who is going to play OF, (likely Bryant and Alcantara), they will have some OF depth with Soler and Alomora plus possibly M. Olt if he can turn things around that also offer trade value.

When every says they will need to trade they just assume it has to be Baez, Russell or Castro because that's who they want on their Franchise for the game, but I am sure in real life, the M's would be happy to deal a J. Paxton, D. Hultzen, V. Sanchez, E. Diaz type pitching prospect for someone like Soler who could be their every day LF or RF and I am sure they are not the only one.

As in the CPU won't accept your deal?

Trade logic is broken, I'd suggest looking into 30 team control. If you're too far into your franchise, you'll have to mess with ratings and it's a real hassle.

Probably the only thing wrong with this great game. Maybe the addition of a full minor league system (A-, A, A+, AA, AAA) would make up for it.
