Really hoping that Theo and Mike Rizzo can come to terms on that Bryant + Baez for Tyler Clippard deal in the next hour or so. The Show would be vindicated.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
These trades don't have to be justified in this thread, lol, that's what the Pro Baseball Trade Deadline Thread is for. We deal in imaginary deals that make sense on paper.
The spreadsheet hasn't been updated since preseason and when Craig was a perennial .300 hitter who helped lead his team to a World Series berth last season, so, yeah, not seeing how that's bad of the spreadsheet. Maybe poor Totte can add a column for accurate futuristic predictions. Or clairvoyance.
Yes, I agree. With Lackey from a couple of years ago, it wouldn't have gone down as smoothly though.
I am just lol'ing a bit reading through some of these posts poking fun at the spreadsheet and this thread....and failing to mention all the trades it's been right on from a value-standpoint. Given that we're 6000+ posts in, I am thinking that maybe we don't just pack up, burn the spreadsheet and leave at this point just because Cherington's new flavor is getting MLB-players instead of prospects in return for MLB players.Comment

Good job Jack.. In the past week you have added Morales .234/.259/.325 in 162 plate appearances with 1 HR and Denforia hitting .242/.293/.319 with 1 HR 16 RBI in 242 AB's.
I agree that they both hit right handed, but come on is this the best you can get.

Conflicting reports: either it's Franklin and Smyly to Tampa, Price to DET, AJ to Sea which makes some sense.
Or it's Franklin, Smyly and Walker to Tampa, Price to DET, AJ to Sea. Which makes me wonder what the hell else did Seattle get?Phillies | A's | Michigan State | Browns | Chelsea FC | BruinsComment

Finally a deal that makes sense for us. I just hope that Jackson will consider staying in Seattle after the season. We need a top of the order CF. As much as I love N. Franklin, Jackson is a great git.Comment

Very odd. That is barely anything in return, although they think highly of the Adames kid.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
The values are often very accurate and logical. That's largely what I use the spreadsheet for in coming up with ideas, and now that I have the idea for valuing prospects that aren't listed (I seem to have a "thing" for finding young players I like that aren't listed) from WaitTillNextYear with using their potentials as a starting point - I'm cool with it.
Once you bring in what "should" or "should not" happen, it gets (even) more gray-area, but I can understand that it's fun to just talk baseball and compare notes on prospects/players/valuation methods, etc. There's enough knowledgable people in here to where you're bound to learn something, even it we're all just spitballing into the dark, ultimately.
It's like stock trading - trying to guess what "should" happen with a stock in the future based on the past, etc. No one is 100% accurate, and, ultimately, it's up to your own tolerances and preferences that should guide what you do.
