Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Yankees
Dodgers
Angels
Giants (Crawford or Reyes moves to 2B)
Oakland if they're contending
What they'd give up is something different. I assume the Dodgers could give you the biggest smorgasbord to choose from in regards to prospects. Oakland have an intriguing name in slugging Matt Olson along with some young arms like Alcantara and Ynoa. The Giants have pitching but nothing else really unless you want Panik at 2B? The Angels...I personally like RJ Alvarez' fastball and to have him as a closer. Then there's 2B prospects Lindsay and Yarbrough and you could easily get one of those two in the deal. Cowart/Cron are other names that stand outFormer modder of "Ultimate Rosters" for MVP Baseball 2005.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Hey everyone,
I'm right at the start of july with my cubs chise. Things have gone much better than expected an we currently sit above a struggling division by 1.5 games. I'm thinking about trying to blow off the 'sit and wait rebulding plan' to try and make a huge splash in the trade market, as imo, if the cubs were realistically doing this well halfway through the season, they're one of the few teams with a strong enough farm to make a huge deal happen.
The teams struggling the most are the marlins, twins, sox, m's, phillies and mets. With the reds, pirates, angels and royals also underperforming but within 7 games of the 2nd wc spot.
I'm using a lineup pretty close to the real life cubs, with rizzo in the 3 hole and castro at cleanup. I feel like the biggest hole in my team is a true power hitter to allow me to move starlin to the 2 or 5 spot in the lineup, and I'm willing to package samardzija (2.80 era) and soler (22 yo, B prospect, hitting ~.260 with decent power numbers in triple a) with a couple other guys to make a splash.
The marlins are stuggling and stanton is hittng .208, so it would seem he'd be available but not sure how much help he'd be with those numbers. Anyone else that would would make more sense?
You could get Chase Utley or Daniel Murphy to upgrade at 2B.
As for Stanton and the Cubs, we've had some discussions about that scenario and possible packages in the past if you look back in the thread. Must have been 1-2 months ago so the search function is probably better in this caseFormer modder of "Ultimate Rosters" for MVP Baseball 2005.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Hi guys, new to this board and new to the game. I'm don't have the game with me so I can't post specific ratings, but maybe you guys can still help. I'm using the latest OS roster as of the beginning of the June, and I'm the Cardinals.
I'm looking for a catcher with at least 75-80 rating to replace Tony Cruz who I cannot hit with. I don't care about this catcher's age or potential as long as he gets through the year. I'm looking for someone with at least passable defense, and I'd prefer power over contact.
What I have to offer:
OF Randall Grichuk ~74? B
OF Rafael Ortega 71 B
2B Mark Ellis
2B Kolten Wong
SP Marco Gonzalez ~79-81
SP Tim Cooney ~77-79
SP Boone Whiting ~73
RP Randy Choate 73 (I want to get rid of him)
basically any minor league guys except Taveras, Piscotty, Kelly
What do you guys think it will take to make a trade work. Some of my targets have been J.P Arencibia, Dioner Navarro, and on the high end Yan Gomes.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I am only midway into my Marlins 2014 Franchise, but I am looking towards the 2015 offseason - when I want to make some key changes. I am interested in:
Rangers:
SS - Elvis Andrus
+
CF/OF - Leonys Martin, Engel Beltre or Michael Choice
Assuming the Rangers IRL don't make any moves, I have some pieces who Texas may be interested in, especially if they want to cut payroll back a bit:
(Away from Vita, so stats are not 100% accurate)
- Ozuna, CF (en route to a 25 HR, 100 RBI season, .270 avg) - Would like him to be centerpiece of any deal.
- Alvarez, SP (Very good season: 2.50 ERA, 1.20 WHIP)
- Eovaldi, SP (Also a very good season: 3.10 ERA)
- Jacob Turner, SP (Still young, but getting hit a bit hard: 4.75 ERA)
- Steve Cishek, CP (Sub-2 ERA, 17/18 saves)
I am also willing to include prospects, though I am a bit reluctant to give up Heaney or Moran.
Thanks in advance for any help!Last edited by Coper3000; 06-25-2014, 02:23 PM.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Looking for a little feedback here.. Love this topic in this forum!!!
To paint the picture, I do not necessarily go for realism ... I don't care what team A would do in real life, just want to try and make a "fair" trade ...
I am also going to try and do this without mentioning teams or player names ... so that hopefully no one responding will be influenced by real life numbers.. so here goes....
Coming to the end of Month 1, 2014 season... Team A has been horrible, posting a 5-20 mark to open the season (7 games off division, 6 back of wildcard) ... Team B is 17-9 and lead their division by 1 game in what still is a 5-team race (Bottom of division is 4 games back)
Team B has just lossed their CF for 4 months, and they do not have a replacement in their system who is ready to take on the everyday job... The injured CF was not producing much posting a .209, oHR, 4RBI line in the 1st month from the lead-off spot.
Option A - Sign a FA to a 4-6 yr deal @ 1-1.5m a yr ... last resort IMO because the farm system will be rdy in 1-2 yrs as well as FA market in off-season... Looking more for a 1 yr deal ....
Option B- Make trade for Team A CF ... who is in last year of his deal ...
POT-B, AGE-27, hitting .186, 1HR, 3 RBI, .278 OBP, .271 slug%, 1-1 SB for his team in first month.....
So the question is, what is reasonable to make this deal ... What would a POT-B, 27 yr old (1yr guarentee with club) demand in return...? Team A is selling and Team B is in playoff push mode ... Keeping in mind the season is very young.
Looking for suggestions (hypothetically) like 2-D's and an F ... not specific names... (I will share names of players once a deal is done if anyone is interested how this turns out)Comment

Yea. I feel like I am in "rock/Hard Place" .... if it helps, I will say that both teams in question are CPU controlled ... This is a 30-Team Control Franchise...Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
If you're only coming to the end of, and not even actually at the end of, the first month, trading simply shouldn't happen imo. Teams just aren't certain enough in player statistics, as they haven't stabilized yet.
Sign the FA to a 1 year, 3 million deal. If you bump up the salary enough they accept for a year."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Thanks for the Stanton tip I'm going to go see if I can find that, but if anyone has some other suggestions for OF's, please share.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
An utley deal is literally impossible because of his 13.7 million salary and I'm hesitant with murphy even though barney is struggling because alcantara is tearing up the minors. I really feel like OF is where I need to upgrade cuz my future infield is pretty set with rizzo, alcantara, castro and baez. Besides Kris Bryant who will be transitioning to LF, I won't have anyone else ready for the OF for at least a couple years.
Thanks for the Stanton tip I'm going to go see if I can find that, but if anyone has some other suggestions for OF's, please share.

For Elvis and Martin, that would need to be a Low A and Low B....
I think Ozuna (Low B), Turner (Low B) and Alvarez (High C) would work. Curious what other people think though.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
That could possibly work. Maybe another throw in from the Marlins...a bullpen arm like AJ Ramos.
Question is: Do the Rangers really need more SP's?Former modder of "Ultimate Rosters" for MVP Baseball 2005.
