Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
As I mentioned in a previous post, the Dodgers are currently in first place in the National League West. However, they have lost Clayton Kershaw for the remainder of the season with an injury. The Phillies are way out and obvious sellers and I'd like to move either Cliff Lee or Cole Hammels to the Dodgers. What do you guys think about this deal?
Dodgers receive:
LHP Cliff Lee (contract runs through 2015)
RHP A.J. Burnett (contract expires at the end of 2014)
2B Chase Utley (contract runs through 2015)
Phillies Receive:
LHP Julio Urias
3B Corey Seager
LF Joc Pederson
Hard to say without seeing stats for the 3 players going to the Dodgers.
I have a hard time believing they would give up their top 3 prospects in 1 deal unless that player was David Price but if Cliff Lee is pitching well then maybe he is worth what the spreadsheet says Mid A High B Low B, but by adding in Utley and Burnett it seems like the Phillies are giving up to much as Burnett is worth a mid B and Utley is worth High B High C.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I am debating on the following trade in my Padres Franchise:
Red Sox Receive:
- Andrew Cashner, SP
Padres Receive:
- Travis Shaw, 1B/3B
- Sean Coyle, 2B/IF
- Felix Doubront, SP
Looking to get some feedback on this trade, if possible. I am trying to look at it from a real life perspective, and of course Cashner isn't the most durable pitcher around. I like the position players in return here, and Doubront to eat some innings until some minor leaguers are ready.
---
I am also sort of eyeing Tommy Milone + Josh Reddick of the A's. Reddick has struggled in RF, and Vogt recently took over the starting gig there. I am not sure who the A's could be looking at from the Padres, but Everth Cabrera could maybe be a decent fit (this trade will take place in the 2015 offseason) if they don't re-sign Lowrie at SS? Any ideas here?

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Urias is an A (low A IIRC), and Pederson and Seager are high B's. That's about right for Cliff Lee. They're practically getting Utley + Burnett for nothing. Unless all three players are playing terribly, they're not giving up enough.
You're undervaluing Lee, and overvaluing prospects greatly. Has Joc Pederson proven that he can hit both RHP and LHP yet?

I think they'd give up their top three prospects to have the best rotation in baseball and sure up 2B.
Agreed though, the Phillies aren't getting enough back in that deal + it's unlikely all three move at the same time. That's unless Burnett is pitching much better than Beckett.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Would BOS bite even though Cashner is often injured? I really like Coyle and Shaw, and think they could be nice fits.
Someone like Barnes, Webster, or Ranaudo are probably off limits in this trade, right? I think they're all 3 A's (and Coyle and Shaw are C's) so maybe one pitcher could balance the trade?Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Hey guys, I'm at the break in my 2nd season with the Cubs and I'm looking for some pitching.
Current Rotation:
Travis Wood: 6-7 3.99 ERA
Dan Straily: 9-3 2.75 ERA
Edwin Jackson: 6-7 3.42 ERA
Jake Arrieta: 7-5 3.62 ERA
Corey Kluber: 3-7 5.01 ERA
While Straily is doing well and Jackson/Arrieta are doing pretty well this isn't something I really want to go forward with long term and don't have a whole lot of pitching coming up in the minors either.
In the offseason I picked up Curtis Granderson and am wondering if I could get some pitching to slide into that rotation in the future after giving up some of these guys:
Granderson: .237/.311/.441 18 HR 50 RBI
Emilio Bonifacio: .228/.279/.317 5 HR 39 RBI 29 SBs (4th in NL)
Nate Schierholtz: .251/.321/.408 10 HR 46 RBI
Gerald Laird: .327/.389/.430 3 HR 31 RBI
Jose Veras: 2.97 ERA 29 SVs
I would also be open to giving up any of my starting 5
Teams in contention:
Cardinals, Brewers, Reds
Padres, D-Backs, Dodgers
Braves, Nationals
A's, Mariners, Angels
Tigers, Indians
Rays, Blue Jays, OriolesLast edited by InTheoWeTrust; 07-08-2014, 08:08 PM.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Mariners Trade Deadline
Seattle: I'm 5 games back need some speed and consistency in front of Cano
Eric Young Jr. (OF)
Daniel Murphy (2B) will (DH) and could play (OF)
From NY Mets: 20 games out of it in full tear down mode imo
Nick Franklin (2B)
Justin Smoke (1B)
James Paxton (SP)
Looking for fairness and little bit of realism , their stats are all pretty much average nothing all-star or that bad.Comment

I just made a deal in my M's Franchise for E. Bonafico to put in CF and the top of the order but I went with dealing away Gohara. Also added some other pieces (Beavan,Almonte) to get LHP RP James Russell in the deal.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Im in year 2 of my franchise with the cubs, Trying to make the playoff push (13 gb at AS game behind an insane Brewer team) but only 5 out of the wildcard. The one thing I really feel like Im missing is a solid ace (Arrieta has been serviceable at 7-2 with a 2.91 but my next best guy in Beeler at 6-6 with an ERA just south of 4.50).
Who im looking at is Chris Sale. I know he's listed as a Cmon son in the chart but the ChiSox are on pace for their second straight worst record and Sale has had a dismal year (2014 4-10 with 5.81 ERA, missed just under two months to injury) and an average year (2015 4-7 with a 4.07 ERA). Ive always enjoyed using him in the game (even throwing a no-no once) this is what I was considering:
Cubs get:
-Chris Sale
Sox get:
-Jorge Soler (A pot whos done well when Ive simmed but I cant hit with him for anything)
-Christian Villanueva (B pot, very solid starting in MLB; .269 8HR 1.000 FLD%, as good as he's been, I have Bryant (current MLB LF), Baez, and Russell, ready to jump in)
-CJ Edwards (injured in ST only made 2 starts for AAA is 2-0 1.50ERA) or Pierce Johnson (1-6 4.77 ERA in MLB)Comment

Even after those 2 years (and not sure of his contract on the game) I think you are underpaying for Sale...probably by quit a bit.Comment

Unrealistic, and useless for the Cubs. It would cost you Baez/Bryant/Soler/Almora/Alcantara.Red Sox: 2018 World Series Champions!!!

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Playing my Yankees one again, semi realistic one (100% fair). Doing sport cast manager until the All Star game or so. Still early but I definitely want to move McCann. I've seen others that use the Yankees have success with him, but I'm god awful with him. Put him on the block and the 3 teams interested are the Dodgers, Reds and Giants. Only choice due to the $$$ is the Dodgers. I know not realistic (going for fairness) at all but I would like to get a deal centered around something like this:
SpoilerDodgers get: plus more
Yankees get: Can do other prospects but this guy is my #1 priority (if there is a way to get him I'll do it, fairly though). Can also take on $$ (Jamey Wright and Co. salary dumps)
On the sheet it says High B, but this guy is an A. What more can I add to make it fair. Yes McCann's #'s are eh but, I suck with him & Beltran (currently have more HR with DJ than with both of them combined). I played the first 15 and hit 1 HR with him, maybe 8/9 RBI's as well. Not that much better on managing mode. Reason why I wouldn't mind moving him is that I hit close to .300 with Cervelli. Also Murphy is killing it at AAA so I could bring him up to be the back up.
Dodgers are currently 15-13 1.5 back out of the West. Just finished up April so not pulling this trade now, but if need be can do it since AJ Ellis is out 6+ months and this is the replacement:
Miguel Olivo would be called up to be this guys back up. Olivo started out awful so was sent down. Currently hitting .200 something I think, I'll double check tomorrow. Like I said not pulling this trade now but lets say the players stay on the same route and produce the same type of numbers. Would it be nuts to trade McCann in late June/July for a package centered around Urias? I think Ellis going down and the rest of the offense struggling (doubt they keep it this bad for long though) goes in my favor? I'll check in later with more updated stats as I should hit mid June sometime tomorrow.
