I added the values of Lee + Burnett + Utley? Don't know where the confusion is from, unless you're confused by the spreadsheet.

A healthy Lee by himself could fetch 2/3 of your proposed deal + a lesser prospect. If you throw in Utley and Burnett it's only going to cost more.

The spreadsheet also takes age/contract into account.

What is it with the spreadsheet values that you don't understand? Let us know and we'll explain it for you.

Did you check the second tab of the spreadsheet that explains a bit more about player values?

I'm the Marlins and while I don't want to trade Stanton, he is not hitting for me for whatever reason (and I don't understand it since I'm okay with Ortiz and Napoli and the ratings are similar), but I notice his spreadsheet value is sky high.

Are there any teams that could give his value? What would be some probable targets?

You could get pretty much any prospect you want for Stanton. If you search the thread, we've talked about multiple times.

Off the top of my head, St. Louis, Boston, Pittsburgh, and Kansas City (maybe) could put up something for Stanton. Teams that could do it, but it doesn't make much sense include Chicago, Houston and Minnesota.

Rodriguez + Wright isn't bad, but I think I'd hold on to Soler if I were making the decision.

Harvey + a throw in, however, I would strongly consider doing
I think the Cubs owe us a deal (you're welcome for Jake A.). Now I have to come off Harvey too? ;-) I think I could add something to an "isn't bad" deal, maybe Norris/Gonzalez innings eaters? Harvey is the feather in the cap for Angelos and Dan D., I'd have to get the moon in return.

I could swing Garcia + Reyes for sure. Would Bourjos instead of Grichuk be acceptable? Bourjos is hitting .340 for me in split time with Jay.

Add Parker Birdwell to the Rodriguez + Wright deal and I think that's fine.

The Cubs don't need anybody to eat innings, we've got the guys to do that in AAA. Kyle Hendricks, Wada, Beeler, Rusin, Jokisch, and even Grimm can all start for us. I'd rather give those guys a shot to see what they could do.

IMO Rodriguez is not the low to mid A prospect the game has him rated as. I think Harvey is more of a high B, and I prefer Harvey over Rodriguez.

Totte's spreadsheet is saved on my favorites so I can find it easily, but after the first year of a franchise, isn't it kind of null and void? What I mean by that is wouldn't the trade value of players change from year to year and the spreadsheet doesn't account for that. If I'm mistaken, someone feel free to correct me.

They do. You just re-evaluate based on the previous season's production. If a player has a down year, lessen their value a bit, and vice versa.

I posted a situation with Castro and Rizzo in my Cubs franchise a bit ago. In 2017 and they're both in the middle of consecutive subpar seasons.

Still looking for some feedback on that, btw

That would work. BAL could move Adam Jones to a corner spot or make Bourjos the best defensive LF in the game.

It depends. If players are doing much different than normal, then that would affect their value. That's why we always quote stats. You can always adjust spreadsheet values as you go deeper into a chise. Most gamers don't even get past 1 season unless they are sim-happy, so the spreadsheet should be fine for most.

You could take players and look for comparisons. Like for 2015, take that 2015 player and look for similar OVR and POT for a 2014 and go by that. Just an option.

I wouldn't say null and void - that's going too far after just a year. I'd say it's pretty much the same second year. Third year, maybe, depending on who it is and how the vagaries of the game play out.

Some guys aren't going to change a whole lot, especially if not giving performance a high weight (since the sim engine and "play engine" are different, you controlling the players will make it different, etc), but even if they are very different (progression/decline, already traded, on a new team with a lesser role, teams rise and fall, etc), I'd use the spreadsheet as a guide, not the final and only say on valuation/realism.

After all, who can definitively say what's "realistic" in 2019, let alone predict what may have happened to guys in 5 MLB:TS seasons? Take the spreadsheet as a valuable data point and go from there based on what's happened in your universe and maybe even real life if you're so inclined (if an 'unrealistic' deal happened in 2015 in real life and you're using this year's sheet on your carry over save, revalue him, etc).
