Over the 7 year stretch of 02-08, it went up to 0.36 for infielders and 0.26 for outfielders. wOBA was at 0.53. wOBA is significantly higher, but they are kinda close. Still better than nothing. That's why when I see a -3.7, I just regress it to 0 and think of it as average.

Seeing as how small error percentages are, I don't see it as having a big enough effect to cause a reason to dismiss it. I could be wrong, though.

I hope everyone had fun while we temporarily converted this thread into an advanced defensive metrics summit and debate, but, I have a trade Q...

I am in early/mid June and my Twins are looking to sell. I've put Jared Burton, Trevor Plouffe, and Kevin Correia on the trade block. Burton is doing ok in a setup role, Correia's been so bad I'll be lucky to get $$ or PTBNL for him. But Plouffe is a guy I am pretty set on moving for a mid-level spect. Not a fan of Plouffe's defense, he leads the team in GIDP (and doubles), and not feeling him long term. Relevant stats: .225/.298/.383 with 18 2B, 5 HR, 29 RBI in 209 AB. Spreadsheet has him at high C + high C. Lots of positional versatility (1B, 2B, SS, 3B, LF, RF).

KC, CWS, DET, CLE, BOS, LAD, ARZ, STL, CIN, MIL, WAS, PHI, ATL all leading or within 5 GB in their divisions at the ~ 65 game played mark. It's a bit early, but what would be a good fit for Plouffe and what sort of catcher or pitcher prospect do you think I could nab?

I believe Boston has some decent Catching prospects. I would check them out.

I sent Plouffe to KC in year 1 of my franchise as Moustakas was hitting in the low .200s with little power. I believe I sent a high C/low B and a mid/high C pitching prospect, but I can't remember which one in the KC organization.

I don't think they'd give up either of those guys for Plouffe honestly.

They're not on your list, but you could maybe get Jimenez from Toronto, and they could play Plouffe at 2B. If he's a C in the game, you could probably get an additional C pitching prospect. Idk, his stats would probably have to be a little better for that to happen.

No way we give up Swihart or Vazquez for Plouffe.

Maybe Plouffe to Detroit as SS/3B for Eugenio Suarez and Jeff Thompson?

My stance on UZR, too hard to get accurate calculations due to chances. also, Arm runs is involved in the formula, and I hate that stat soooooooooo much.

I don't see that being a good deal for Detroit, IMO.

Thanks for the idea. Middlebrooks is doing pretty well, but maybe Plouffe in a corner OF spot would entice them. Not sure what I could pry away from Ben Cherington...probably not one of their top C spects.

Will have to look into Moose's stats, but certainly a thought and draining a division rival's prospect stable has a certain appeal.

Perhaps. I would like to prioritize the C and P spots because I seem to have pretty good options everywhere else on the farm. I am so thin at C with Mauer at 1B and Pinto really all I have that's under 30.

Not a bad thought. I am actually visiting the Jays and about to start a 3 game set. Will look into it. I believe they have Steve Tolleson starting at 2B with Lawrie playing some 2B as well. They could use the help if they are to catch Boston or get a WC spot.

                        Thoughts on this CPU-to-CPU trade...

                        Dodgers offering to Tornoto

                        RF Andre Ethier | Age: 30, 80 OVR, B POT, hitting .379 (yes, .379 but in only 103 at-bats; he's been injured). 5 HR, 20 RBI

                        Dodgers asking for...

SS Dawel Lugo | Age: 19, 61 OVR, B POT, currently in Double-A where he's hitting .259, with 24 RBIs.

                        RP Aaron Loup | Age: 26, 76 OVR, C POT, 2.87 ERA, 32 Ks in 47 IP

I'm guessing they're offering Ethier because they have a surplus of outfielders?

The Dodgers are currently in first place in the NL West by 4.5 games.

The Blue Jays are 3.5 behind Tampa Bay in the AL East but currently hold the top Wild Card spot.

This is a real gem as far as cpu trades go. I actually think this is pretty good. Not all that common to deal away a vet that's hitting .379 while in 1st place, but makes sense otherwise.

Carter and Ruf are basically both spare parts on their teams with similar value. Straight up deal would be ok, but the spreadsheet says you are owed another high C in addition to Ruf, so you could pick out a small piece if you want.

I'm not entirely sure how to use the spreadsheet to calculate whether a trade is fair or not.

Also, I'm ready to deal Darwin Barney. I don't really care what I get in return but can anyone give me some advice as to who might need a great fielding second baseman who can't hit?
