I think Chicago's losing that one.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
How much do you think Soler is worth exactly? Prospect values are always my hardest to judge, but a Barnes + Ranaudo for him seems like an overpay for the Sox even with our depth at SP and in need of an OF. Barnes to me will probably end up a long man while Ranaudo is still interesting, but his age has me at the now or never stage. I believe in OS Barnes is a B - B+ while Ranaudo is an A- so them both for Soler is hard to do from my POV.Come hang with me on YouTube! Owens straight up is probably the closest fit
If the universal overrating of Anthony Ranaudo could mercifully come to a close that would be wonderful"Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Then I know it isn't my trade but Owens should be in the same boat as Swihart and be untouchable unless Stanton's name is coming up.Come hang with me on YouTube! I stream/make videos on a variety of games from sports, to action, to adventure!

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
People overrate him? I've only seen this happen with OS rosters usually, he has upside still but he is getting older(24 is still young, but once a prospect hits 25 I start to get meh feelings for them) and has had setbacks. Guess you hear it more than I do haha.

Disagree on either of those guys being untouchable."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I came up with this trade because I follow the Cubs and Red Sox. I wish I had more time to follow every teams farm system but I have 3 daughters under the age of 5 and life is very busy.
Owens probably would not get traded unless it was a blockbuster. Or perhaps I am also over valuing Owens.
Can anyone think of a few other teams that are in need of a bat like Soler that has pitching to give up?
I was thinking the O's could use him to replace Cruz has a right handed power bat in 2015 but the closest match I could think of was Harvey and I dont think Baltimore would do it.
I am hoping to get a potential number 2 starter back for Soler.
Thanks for the help. This thread is always fun to watch and learn from.Last edited by Zim; 07-28-2014, 02:07 PM.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I'm not one of them then, I just see upside in him but don't value him more than a #4 or a mid RP. Ratings wise a B- would suffice 82-84 potential.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Bard, not trying to single you out, but it is said way too much in this thread in general. Not every T50/100 prospect is untouchable. Top prospects get traded all of the time. The "untouchable except for Stanton" has to go. Because if they were untouchable, they wouldn't be traded for anyone, even Stanton.
Bryce Harper, Trout, Buxton, Bryant.. Those guys are/were untouchable prospects, and in a class of their own. There's a lot of scenarios that could go into a team not trading prospects. Do I think the Cubs would trade Soler, Almora, or Alcantara? No, but they are definitely not untouchable.
Owens, Swihart, whoever, I could see moving. Yes, they could probably be packaged with much more for Stanton, but that doesn't seem like a possibility right now. The only person that the Sox have right now that I would consider close to untouchable is Xander.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I don't think there's a single untouchable prospect in the league. I basically evaluate that by, "Who's the best player that could realistically get traded? Would I trade this player for him?" Best prospect is Kris Bryant. Would I trade him for Giancarlo Stanton?
As long as Scott Boras is his agent, yeah. Yeah, I would.
And by extension every worse prospect cannot be untouchable."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

I agree with you full heartily but I just don't want to see them go, if that makes sense? Just a fan thing I suppose, you feel that way a bit with your guys I see but I just say untouchable because I lack a better term.Come hang with me on YouTube!
