Do you guys think the Tigers would do Devon Travis and another small piece in a deal for Papelbon? Or do you think they'd be overpaying?

Now, do I think that the Tigers would realistically do Travis + small piece? It really just depends on how desperate they are.Comment

Yeah I might have to just hang onto him... I can't find a trade I'm too interested in without the other team overpaying.
Papelbon was an allstar in my sim, he has an ERA just above 1.0 and Joe Nathan is 0-8 with a 4.23 ERA for the tigers who are in first in the Central by 1 gamePhillies | A's | Michigan State | Browns | Chelsea FC | BruinsComment

Detroit would give Souza + Knebel/Ziomek imo. Although if Pap was that good and Travis was hitting less than .270 then you could get away with it."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Mariners are leading their division by 2 games and just lost Zunino for the year.
They like Saltalamacchia and I like D.J. Peterson.
I know I'd have to add - but the Mariners are seemingly overloaded with young pitching...and so am I (having crazy luck with pitchers in my franchise).
I'm trying to see some kind of match that would make some sort of sense, but I don't know, would the Mariners want yet more young pitching? Can you have too much young pitching? Just no match to be made here?
What might would be something they'd do in return? I know what the spreadsheet value says and Salt's been performing pretty much as expected, but what are some ideas you guys see? Would Montero be unfair if D.J. Peterson is just out of reach?
I'd be interested in other teams as well. So far the contenders (through early July): Mets, Royals, Rays, Brewers, D-backs, M's (division leaders).
AL WC contenders: Tigers, Jays, Red Sox, Yankees, Twins, Indians, O's
NL WC contenders: Nations, Reds, Braves, Dodgers, Padres, Cubs, Cards, PiratesLast edited by KBLover; 07-21-2014, 07:29 PM."Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Also what is your current rotation, because I would think Elias would be a decent Lefty for you as a #4 or #5.
I currently have Hernandez, Iwakuma, Young, Walker and Paxton because I dealt Elias in a July trade to Minnesota for Willingham. I started the year with Iwakuma and Walker on the D.L. and was using E-Ram, and Beavan in the rotation.
Also if you are dead set on adding a Lefty to the rotation what about someone who is in F.A. like Wandy Rodriguez who was released by Pittsburgh or you could look at F. Liriano who will be a F.A. in 2015.
Other options could be Jeff Lock (Pitt) Brett Anderson (COL) F. Morales (COL), J. Danks (CWS),
You mentioned you are using a customer roster set, so I don't know what you have for ratings on certain players
But I would think something like E-Ram or B. Maurer plus Taylor and Smoak is fair via the spreadsheet. If you didn't want to give up Smoak, you could do Ackley instead. Or if you wanted it to be a 2 for 1 deal, Paxton and Taylor would probably work or maybe something like Sanchez or Pike plus Taylor and a High C prospect like Jesus Montero (he could take Butler spot at 1B or DH)Last edited by Deuce2223; 07-21-2014, 07:51 PM.Comment

DJ Peterson is #1 on the M's untouchable list next to Zunino. Even if they lost Z for the year and were leading the division by 2 games I don't see them giving up Peterson to get Salty.
They have proven in the past they are perfectly content with going with F.A. retreads behind the plate (H. Quintero, H. Blanco, K. Shoppach) and would likely just use Sucre or maybe deal for a lesser C via trade. (Former Mariner K. Suzuki comes to mind in that scenerio)Comment

I apologize I somehow missed your question about Montero. I would think the M's would deal him. At this point his future is more as a 1B/DH which the M's already have plenty of them in Smoak/Hart/Morrison.
Depending on what your 1B situation is he could be someone for you.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I have a fantasy draft franchise with the Cubs and currently have nowhere for Kris Bryant to get any playing time. I have Cespedes in LF and Bryce Harper in RF and Matt Carpenter at 3rd. I thought about moving Carpenter to 2nd but then I have nowhere for Baez so I'm looking to trade Matt Carpenter for a center fielder.
Probably pretty unrealistic but if I gave up
Matt Carpenter
Zack Wheeler
Yordano Ventura
what else would I have to include to get Mike Trout
If that doesn't work could those 3 get Jason Heyward or would that require more or could I get him for less?Comment

Zach Wheeler could net you a lot by himself but with the other two added you can get Heyward as well as something else fairly. It's almost impossible to get Trout so I wouldn't even try.

MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Ok minus the fact that A Rod is banned for the next... Well, however long. I recently lost Lonnie Chisenhall for the season with a dislocated ankle and it left me scrambling to find a starter at 3rd base. The Yanks are in full rebuilding mode and have 6 guys including A Rod on the trade block now (mid -May). They want RPs and SPs. I packaged my top rated RPs (Axford and Pestano... Both are rated 79 and 30 and 29 years old, respectively). I also included SP, Zach McAllister 76 OVR.
I asked for A Rod and a couple minor leaguers from their AAA... Will try to get the names shortly. They were around 58 and 64 rated RPs I believe. I figure I am giving them what they want to stay competitive at the RP position and they get to get rid of A Rod to boot. I have no plans to keep ARod as my 3rd baseman once Chisenhall is healthy... maybe DH at most if I don't trade home myself in the off season.
