None of us claim to be baseball insiders, or general managers. What one person says isn't gospel. That's why we have discussions, and we use what we know + what's happened in the past. That's how all trades are justified/shot down in here.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
There is still a Boston prospect involved. Wacca injury made rotation upgrades more important. There is no logic to compare Lackey contract option for next year. Craig poor performance lessened his value (along with progression of minor players). Great example of bidding competition.

But if you were to take out the stats and do it based on values it's not something we would expect to happen. Right?Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I agree with AC, both deals were fair. If someone came in and proposed this deal a month ago, and it was under the same circumstances, I don't think anyone would have freaked out. Craig and Kelly are nowhere near untouchable (especially with Craig's regression), so it is definitely realistic that those guys could move. It was going to happen eventually, because the Cards are so stacked.

I hear you. Don't think I was trying to criticize. I was honestly curious. What you're saying makes sense.Comment

Good job Jack.. In the past week you have added Morales .234/.259/.325 in 162 plate appearances with 1 HR and Denforia hitting .242/.293/.319 with 1 HR 16 RBI in 242 AB's.
I agree that they both hit right handed, but come on is this the best you can get.
If the M's give you a contract next year, I might have to officially become a A's fan.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I love that trade for the A's and Red Sox. Lester puts the rotation in a position to get the A's the title this year which is their window. They can't resign these guys they have to big money extentsions and Cespedes would leave after next year anyway. Good for Billy to go for it while he has a shot.
Boston gets the power hitting outfielder they needed badly and it was a pretty fair trade for both sides. Exciting times.Phillies | A's | Michigan State | Browns | Chelsea FC | BruinsComment

I am just lol'ing a bit reading through some of these posts poking fun at the spreadsheet and this thread....and failing to mention all the trades it's been right on from a value-standpoint. Given that we're 6000+ posts in, I am thinking that maybe we don't just pack up, burn the spreadsheet and leave at this point just because Cherington's new flavor is getting MLB-players instead of prospects in return for MLB players.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Although I'm entirely unsurprised that I disagree, seeing as that I had no hand in making it, lol."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment
