By giving it another month, the standings should also tell you whether or not to aim for prospects in return or another key piece to try push the Angels forward.

Kendrick could be a fit in Atlanta, Toronto, Yankees or Dodgers.

Aybar could find playing time in Pittsburgh or Mets.
Alright, I'll see where they're at at the start of June. Thanks!

        Question:
This is kind if noob-y, as I take pride in having good baseball knowledge, but is there specific times when trade occur/don't occur? Like I figure April, there's no trades
        May, there's MAYBE minor deals
June is when it starts to pick up
        July is ****in' crazy, lol

Is that the correct guideline, so to speak?

April - still trying to figure out what you have
May - injury replacement and minor farm pieces for depth
June - "I want your star" followed by "I want the moon in return"...check back next month unless you're desperate
July - you better get what you want by the all-star break because it's about to get crazy
August - salary relief and a mixed bag of recycles depending on the season

Every year is different but the above is my interpretation.

May is the best time to trade, imo.

I like to try to find "minor" deals that could yield much more to my team. Guy good at just one thing? Young guy that's got minor upside but had has some average abilities? Utility sort of guy that's hardly gotten to play, but has defense and a decent bat? Pure platoon guy?

I love trying to find these "minor" pieces and then growing them and making them work as much as possible. I can keep my best gems and maybe shine some rough players into little gems of their own at little cost to me.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

May is far too early to realistically trade more than relievers and bench pieces. Everyone is too focused on the draft, you guys couldn't imagine how much more they care about the draft than literally everything else. I like late June-mid July. Everyone is in trade mode but it isn't deadline panic.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

Okay, I got to May 29th earlier and I play the Angels. Howie Kendrick had a .204 BA, and Aybar was batting .210

Now I'm on June 7 (still playing every game) and now Howie is batting .194 and Aybar is batting .207. And I called up Grant Green and he's batting .214. Lol so do you think now would be appropriate?

I was thinking a Kendrick/Evan Gattis straight up swap. Gattis is batting .143 but he's been hurt so it's a smaller sample size. Angels also need C help and ATL needs 2B help so it would be like a change of scenery move I think. Could I do this on June
7, or should I still wait until late June-Early May before the ASB?

                      Bethancourt and Doumit?

Or expand the deal and go Kendrick + Hester/Iannetta for Gattis + a righty bullpen arm not named Kimbrel/Walden. Varvaro comes to mind as a throw in

I think Bethancourt is a great solution for LAA. Good glove, cannon arm...Most catchers that hit get moved anyway. Perfect Scioscia disciple.

If OP is not playing injuries, ATL has several bullpen arms to make up the value difference.

Too much. Villanueva + Almora will work. WAS doesn't need Edwards anyway, unless you really like him but you're going to have to give an additional piece, like Trenin or Voth.

Im actually the cubs so if you think I can not include Edwards and do the deal so much the better.
