MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

Damn I was trying to find a CF. Wanted Avisil Garcia and felt I could afford Bourn. I'm 2 weeks before the deadline. Traded Rasmus to the Mariners. Gose I figured would come Im full time with Soriano playing LF sometimes moving Cabrera to CF but we all know Soriano isn't an everyday player so I think Gose may be going back to AAA.

Now I don't wanna pay anymore that a B+C to get the CF so what are some reasonable targets off the top of your head?

How is Colorado doing in your Franchise. Maybe Drew Stubbs. Or either Chicago team De Aza (Sox) Ruggiano (Cubs). How does the KC OF situation look like maybe Dyson if you are wanting to add some Speed.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

Alright so a potential Stanton storm between the Red Sox (56-39, 3 GB AL East, Lead Wild Card) and the Marlins (40-55, 14 GB NL East, 10 GB Wild Card).

Giancarlo Stanton (24 yrs old 86 OVR A POT, 1-yr deal @ $5.5M so he's going to need a new contract next year)
        Stanton's 2014 Stats
        78/269 (.290) - 12 HR - 38 RBI - .356 OBP - .476 SLG%

He's not tearing it up at all. He's only played in 70 games so he was injured for about 20 or so games this season.

The Marlins clearly have no playoff hope and Stanton could net them a hefty haul from the Red Sox.

        Red Sox OF stats:
        Shane Victorino: .296 - 10 HR - 30 RBI
        Jonny Gomes: .238 - 6 HR - 18 RBI
        Grady Sizemore: .218 - 3 HR - 21 RBI
        Jackie Bradley Jr.: .333 - 1 HR - 4 RBI (24 AB's)
        Bryce Brentz: .187 - 3 HR - 9 RBI

The pieces Boston has to offer:

        SS Xander Bogaerts (21 yrs old 76 OVR A POT, 1-yr @ $1.3M)
        45/193 (.233) - 3 HR - 24 RBI - .280 OBP - .363 SLG% - no errors in 59 games
Not a great season offensively so far but he's clearly got potential and is a future star. He's not there yet though...
*Likely a guy BOS fans would see as an untouchable*

3B Garin Cecchini (22 yrs old 71 OVR B POT)
        AAA stats: .307 - 19 HR - 68 RBI - .371 OBP - .531 SLG%
He's absolutely tearing it up and looks to be MLB ready but WMB is doing well in the bigs so he's not getting the call up this year

OF Jackie Bradley Jr. (23 yrs old 67 OVR B POT)
        8/24 (.333) - 1 HR - 4 RBI
Just had his cup of coffee in the bigs. He's got potential but is he going to help them win it all this year?

2B/OF Mookie Betts (21 yrs old 71 OVR B POT)
        AAA stats: .342 - 10 HR - 46 RBI - .387 OBP - .517 SLG%
Absolutely tearing up AAA. Is it time to call him up at this point? His OVR doesn't point to an impact player yet.

C Blake Swihart (21 yrs old 62 OVR B POT)
        AA stats: .262 - 4 HR - 20 RBI
Nothing special but he projects to be a starter. Pretty solid so far and a switch hitter.

SP Henry Owens (21 yrs old 71 OVR B POT)
        AAA stats: 3-1 2.97 ERA in 39.1 IP, 28 K's to 17 BB's and a 1.47 WHIP
He's got the stuff to be a front line starter and Miami already has a nice young staff. Would add that LHP they need

SP Matt Barnes (23 yrs old 73 OVR B POT)
        AAA stats: 11-5 3.98 ERA in 126.2 IP, 113 K's to 59 BB's and a 1.43 WHIP
Another quality arm that could come in right away and make an impact, or at least next year.

SP Anthony Ranaudo (24 yrs old 73 OVR B POT)
        AAA stats: 6-8 5.00 ERA in 113.1 IP, 119 K's to 47 BB's and a 1.52 WHIP
He's not doing that well in AAA but he's rated well and has potential as a starter.

        ________________

Would the Red Sox give up some of their farm for a super star?
Would the price be slightly lower because it's not the 33 HR Stanton of real life 2014?
Would the Red Sox go for another solution like Josh Willingham, Jason Kubel, Michael Cuddyer, TEX Choo, or Alex Rios?

Super long post so sorry!!!!!!! Thanks for any input

Don't think the Sox or Marlins have much interest in a Bogaerts/Stanton swap right now. Mainly the Marlins.

I understand that but I'm in my virtual world, not the 2014 real life season. I'll probably still look elsewhere for BOS because I don't want to shake up everything too much.

I still don't think they'd deal Stanton in your chise.

The Red Sox would be very hesitant to move Bog, even for a bat like Stanton. We'd try to sweeten the pot of players instead of X, and see if he'll budge. Probably won't, but worth a shot.

Brewers chise. Always ship out Marco Estrada, Jim Henderson, and Zach Duke for 3+ years away prospects. I feel like trades are acceptable when you just overpay a bit. Trade engine is just a base, it's your job to make it fair. I feel guilty trading for players who realistically wouldn't be traded. Established stars for prospects is the MLB trade standard.

Teams that are out of it or have CF that are available and what they could offer in terms of CF that would interest me:

                    - Red Sox: Bradley (.298, 13rbi) Victorino (.338 24rbi) but rival team
                    - Twins: Arica, Fuld (.254, 0sb) Santana (.269, 6Sb)
                    - Indians: Brantley, Bourn (prob expensive)
                    - Rangers: Rios on DL
                    - Rockies: Stubbs (.314, 5hr, 8sb) Cargo (expensive)
                    - Braves: Heyward (.221, 6hr) BJ Upton (.145, 3hr)
                    - Mets: Granderson (.191, 6 hr)
                    - Cubs: Coghlan (.245) Ruggianio (.254, 4 hr) Schierholtz (AAA)
                    - Cardinals: Jay (.313) Bourjos (.333)
                    - Royals (6 games back): Dyson (.277, 10sb, 3Hr) Cain (.319, 1sb)
                    - Dodgers (4 OF): Kemp (.237, 6 HR) Crawford (.259, 15 SB)
                    - White Sox: De Aza (.245, 1Hr, 2SB)
                    - Padres: Venable (in aaa hitting .203) maybe could get him cheap?)

The best options In my eyes are Venable, De Aza, Crawford, Dyson, Bourjous, Coughlan+Schierholz

Would also consider Stubbs, Victorino, Fuld

Would be willing to part with:
                    - DJ Davis: .216, 8SB in AA
                    - Kevin pillar: .312, 15rbi in AAA
                    - Goins: .303 in AAA
                    - Romero: 2-0, 3.60, 1.04 AAA if I get high salary back like Crawford
                    - Drabek: 0-1, 2.95, 1.12 in AAA
                    - John Stilson (0-3, 3.22, 1.34 AAA)
                    - Sean Nolin (2-0, 4.41, 1.53 AAA)

I could give any combo of these players to get one of those CF and maybe a bullpen arm if possible. Thanks guys!

                      Trade #1
                      Minnesota Twins (37-58) send:
                      3B Trevor Plouffe (27 yrs old 75 OVR C POT - .268, 13 HR, 46 RBI, .325 OBP, .433 SLG% - 1-yr deal @ $1.2M)

                      Pittsburgh Pirates (45-50) send:
                      SP Casey Sadler (23 yrs old 69 OVR High C POT (79) - AAA Stats: 10-4, 124.2 IP, 3.25 ERA, 83 K, 35 BB, 1.21 WHIP)
CF Barrett Barnes (22 yrs old 56 OVR High C POT (78) - In A-ball no stats)

Why the Twins do it? They have the Cuban beast Miguel Sano sitting in AAA ready to make the jump. He's a 74 OVR A POT and the Twins are out of it. Sano is hitting .278-7 HR-37 RBI and looks ready to be handed the reigns. SS is taken care of with youngster Danny Santana playing well hitting .295 in 200 MLB AB's. The Twins have the most horrendous ERA in the MLB with a 5.24 team ERA which is a full 0.60 ERA more than the 29th team! Their best starter at the moment has a 4.79 ERA, they need arms and good young ones. Sadler will get a chance immediately to help the team as the Twins are going youth movement post AS break.

Why the Pirates do it? We have so many young arms we can give up Sadler to potentially upgrade a MIF position. Barrett Barnes was a decent prospect but we won't miss much with him. It makes sense to try and grab a guy like Plouffe as a cheap addition for a playoff run. Don't want to sell the farm in the second half and give up our studs...so we will only get a "solid" player.

                      Trade #2
Chicago White Sox (46-51, 9.5 GB Division & 10.5 GB Wild Card) send:
                      SP John Danks (28 yrs old 79 OVR B POT | 4-8, 120 IP, 3.08 ERA, 54 K, 27 BB, 1.20 WHIP | 3-yrs left @ $3.8M each)

                      Pittsburgh Pirates (45-50) send:
                      SS Jacoby Jones (21 yrd old 54 OVR B POT (83) | AA stats: .277 - 1 HR - 4 RBI in 83 AB's with .326 OBP & .422 SLG%)

Why the White Sox do it? They don't feel like they can contend with their roster and they are pretty much out of it. Danks has been solid but not amazing and his 54 K's is a pretty ugly number in 120 IP. He's likely been very lucky so far this season with RISP. The Sox need MIF prospects and Jones is a perfect fit. He's a versatile guy and will have a chance to wait a couple years before he's ready to make an impact. He should develop into a nice player.

Why the Pirates do it? A veteran LHP in the rotation is going to be nice. Jeff Locke didn't get the job done this year so Danks can possibly come in and be that guy to get some hard fought victories.
A bit late of a reply but Danks had similar #'s in my 'chise and I swapped him for David Dahl. They really don't need MIF as Tim Anderson and Micah Johnson look to be pretty good(above average so far in my 'chise) and I thought I would trade for a young guy with potential on a contending team.

If you wanna trade for MIF the Angels could be a good option as well.

Okay here are 4 trades I have come up with:

                          1) De Aza + Belisario for Nolin + High C RF(single A)

                          2) Crawford + League or Chris Perez for Nolin + Romero + High C SS (Single A)

                          3) Victorino + Breslow for Nolin + 2 High C SP (Single A). Rival team but adding an extra high C for that

                          4) Venable + Beniot for Nolin + 2 High C SP (Single A). Venable in AAA

Which one is the best, worst, needs players added for other team, needs more coming back my way. I have 2 weeks to decide which one so if I can get them all figured out I'll start scouting them.

                          Thanks

I like the second one most and the third one least

Agreed. Either #1 or #2 are good fits.
