i know Kendrick is a given but I would think the Orioles would wanna give Schoop every chance to succeed, no?

Do you wanna play Schoop everyday in 2014 or let him develop for a full time gig in 2015? Hardy is in his walk year so I was thinking you could roll with Machado-Hardy-Kendrick-Davis in 2014 and then Schoop-Machado-Kendrick-Davis in 2015

Yeah as much as the real team might need a 2nd Baseman I like how I am set up. I was hoping more for a prospect. Someone High Ceiling/Low Floor would definitely work I just need some ideas

I actually already optioned Schoop but I plan on calling him up around mid-june. I kind of have a log jam at 2nd. So far Weeks, Casilla, Flaherty, and Lombardozzi have all been hitting. I like Kendrick but it might be a waste of money

I'd rather throw Schoop into the fire and see what he can do...that's just me....and I don't think the Angels would trade Kendrick for a mediocre at best back-end-of-the-rotation starter (not knowing what the other piece(s) going to LAA as well)

if they're all hitting, you wouldn't need Kendrick anyway

I tried to make it like a real spring training with real position battles and Schoop just did not hit enough. I agree with the Kendrick notion as well and I really don't wanna send prospects in any deal.

How about Hank Conger in return then? Gives you a solid backup and potential starter down the road if Wieters departs through free agency?

2B prospect Taylor Lindsey could be another option

I really like the Conger idea a lot. Do you think they would do that straight up?

I like what you're suggesting here. Can't get too much value back assuming the Dodgers are eating a ton of salary. Maybe add Ethier as another piece coming back to Philly in order to compensate a bit for all the money heading to California?

The only true fit I see for Papelbon is a team that can eat his contract and needs a proven closer - the Angels. It'd be really sweet for you to get 2B prospect Taylor Lindsey back and have him take over when Utley retires (or you trade him). Or opt for slugging 1B prospect CJ Cron instead to get a good replacement for Ryan Howard.

The Padres, like you mentioned, already have Street on an extension and signed Benoit this winter. I don't see a need there.

I don't think the Phillies will ever truly have a firesale so I probably wouldn't make a ton of deals in the first year. But anyone have any other suggestions?
You're right about that. Ruben in a nutshell. He should have a started selling a long time ago. I can't understand why he's still around...

IRL, yes. Iannetta has like 2 years left on his extension and they could run with some quad A catcher like John Hester as their backup. The Angels badly need SP depth.

The spreadsheet have the values adding up as well so it's a green light

Thanks Totte and everyone for contributing. Conger will be a great addition. I'll probably try and trade Hardy whenever Schoop is ready/performing so I will be back on here fairly soon.

I just read Jim Bowden's blog post on ESPN about Cron and thought he'd be a good trade idea for Papelbon. Do you think the Angels would do that trade 1 for 1? Also, should I add Ethier to the dodgers trade or would one of the prospects need to come out of it?

I also have no clue why Ruben is still in town... hopefully he gets canned soon.

I'd go Papelbon for Cron straight up.

In regards to Ethier, I guess it depends on his numbers. A crazy idea is to send Rollins packing together with Lee for Urias, Pederson, Ethier and Seager. Rollins' minimal value would help with Ethier's value coming to Philly. If you don't go with Rollins, either Cesar Hernandez or Freddy Galvis could be an extra piece that's valuable when the rosters expand in September

I think Urias, Pederson AND Seager is a bit much for Lee. They're all underrated. 2 of them + Zach Lee would be totally fine though.
