Probably not before the 2015/2016 offseason. He's still young and under a contract extension with the Reds. He's also expressed interest in staying with the Reds when his deal expires. By 15/16, Ervin or another Reds OF prospect should be ready to take over

The cpu trades are horrible. Correa and Appel for Neftali Solo and JJ Hoover?? Really, that's terrible.
How do you guys decide who to trade and to where?
And can someone explain a "good" trade.
Sorry for the newb questions, just tired of the terrible cpu offers.

If the cpu trade target is realistic i will try to tweak the deal to make it fair.

If it isn't I try to find a more realistic target at the same position (so like if the cpu proposes a trade for Yadi I would edit the deal to make it a trade for Tony Cruz).

If there are obvious trade chips not being moved (like Shark) I will step in and deal them at the deadline.

To tell if any trades are good come on here first. (For example ask "the Astros are trying to acquire Soto and Hoover how would they get that deal done?)

Any thoughts on the Hammel to Seattle rumors.... Thoughts are a Garza like package for him?

Samardzija would probably fetch a package similar to Garza but Hammel will not land the same return. He'll probably net one good prospect or two lesser ones.

Think about this hutzlen (injuries) sands (starter/reliever) pike (low level 3/4 starter) solid work I think

I think Hultzen is too much for Hammel. But a guy like Luis Goehara or Victor Sanchez works.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

Several games before my trade deadline, and I'm looking to make some trades both for my team and for some CPU teams.

I'm looking to deal (if realistic) Papelbon, Hamels, and Byrd.

                  Papelbon: 1-2 23 saves 3.21 ERA 0.92 WHIP 20 K's in 33.2 IP
I've already gotten multiple offers from the Tigers for him, as Joe Nathan is struggling badly with a 2-4 record and a 5.73 ERA in 33 IP.He does have 25 saves, and 34 Ks in 33 IP, but he's regressing quickly and struggling this year. The Tigers have offered me Robbie Ray and Corey Knebel, which I understand is a lot. I'd probably want one or the other if I could even get one of them for Papelbon, and I'm not sure how realistic it is because of his contract. I've also already edited Papelbon to make his velocity sit around 90-92, a bit of a more accurate representation nowadays. Tigers trail the Royals in the AL Central by a game and a half.

                  Hamels: 9-3 2.32 ERA 0.89 WHIP 93 K's 131.2 IP
Also gotten numerous offers from teams for Hamels in the past few weeks. I really do want to trade him for some solid prospects, but I'm mainly worried about how realistic it would be considering his fairly new and large contract extension. I've gotten offers from the Jays and Red Sox so far. Jays offered me Sanchez, Lugo, and Nay while the Sox offered me Owens, Swihart, and Trey Ball. I was also exploring a trade to the Rangers but they aren't interested in taking on his contract. If it's realistic to move him, I'd like to get a deal for Hamels done soon, and I'd be willing to take on a bad contract or two from a team in order to get a deal done.

                  Byrd: .229 14 HRs 41 RBI in 332 ABs
Byrd has been struggling lately and his averaged has recently fallen from around .270 to .229. I'd also like to move him to any contending team who needs an outfielder. I'd also be willing to take a lesser tier prospect in order to move him, however there are some other OF options on the market that teams might be more interested in acquiring. Contending teams who need OFs are Boston (several games of Rays in AL East and right in the middle of things for the WC), DET (1.5 back of Royals for Central), and the Royals who lost Lorenzo Cain for the year and may need a replacement for Dyson, and potentially the Rangers as Martin is struggling.

I'm also looking to make some CPU trades involving some of these guys:

                  Samardzija: 5-10, 3.82 ERA, 120 K's in 125 IP, 1.39 WHIP
possible trade targets - Yankees (Kuroda moved to bullpen after struggles and Nova has a 5+ ERA) , Jays, Rangers (Martin Perez struggling and other members of rotation have relatively high ERAs)

                  David Price: 7-9 3.80 ERA 134 K's 135 IP 1.24 WHIP
This one is a little tricky because Price isn't having a typical Price season, plus the Rays lead the AL East by 1.5 games. Would they trade him under these circumstances? Also, I'd like to try and move him out of the division since it's very competitive in the AL East this year.

                  Nelson Cruz: .265 25 HR 53 RBI 309 ABs
The O's are 3 games under .500 and 11 back in the East, so I was thinking they might want to move Cruz, thoughts on if they would and what kind of prospects to target? Contending teams in need of OFs include, Boston, DET, KC, and maybe TExas.

                  Alexei Ramirez:
                  .290 2 HR 39 RBI 386 ABs
White Sox are 15 under .500 and 7 games back in the AL Central. I was thinking they might want to continue with a rebuild they started last year and move one of their more intriguing pieces. I was thinking maybe sending him to Boston? They have Bogaerts on the bench and they are starting Jonathan Herrera at SS, Middlebrooks is also underperforming at 3rd. They also have not signed Stephen Drew in my franchise.

                  Josh Willingham: .262 21 HRs 78 RBIs 401 ABS
Twins are 13 under .500 and 6 GB in the Central. Teams that need OF help, as stated earlier, are Boston, Detroit, KC, and maybe Texas. To stay on topic of the Twins, they have also tried to trade a well-performing Glen Perkins to the Rays for Taylor Guerrieri and C.J. Riefenhauser.

Sorry for the long post everyone, and thanks in advance for all of the advice!

Edit: I'm also thinking about maybe moving Dom Brown - .262 18 HR 43 RBI, .310 OBP .464 Slug %

My thought was hultz is not even a to 10 prospect for Seattle... Olt was number 2 for Texas.... When they sent Garza with wrote number they got 3 top 20 from the rangers.. Rent don't think it's that far off

CPU trade to look at... Tigers offering Anibal Sanchez to the Cubs for Grimm, Bryant, and Baez.

Tigers are .5 up in the central, and the Cubs are 3 back in the NL Central (tied for the WC).

Also, the Phillies are 5 games back in early June and have a bunch of guys on the block. Guys I'd be interested in bringing to Boston are Hamels (5-3 2.78 77k), Lee (2-3 2.75 48k), Burnett (5-1 3.99 69K), and Papelbon (0-2 3.14 13S 16K).

Lester and Peavy are solid at the top of my rotation, then I have Buchholz (4-4 3.38 42k 29bb), and Lackey (5-4 5.05 53k 26bb). Currently have Ranaudo called up to round out the rotation but he hasn't pitched yet. Doubront was 6-2 3.92 but is on the DL for two weeks.

Thoughts on upgrades for my staff?

Asking for a good friend of mine, but he's in the 2015 Spring Training in his Marlins Franchise, and looking to deal Ozuna to the Diamondbacks. Apparently Parra and Pollock will both miss 6+ months, and Parra will be a FA after the 2015 season.

Spreadsheet has Ozuna as a High B and Low B.

Here is the trade he wanted me to ask about:
                              - Nick Ahmed, SS
                              - Braden Shipley, SP
                              - Josh Collmenter, SP (or Wade Miley, SP)

He said Ozuna had a great season, but that he prefers Marisnick in CF. Does the above trade seem fair/unbalanced? He said he would include another piece to get the trade done if he needed.

Shipley is far more valuable than Ozuna imo.
