    2014 Season Re-Cap

The Cubs finished the year off with a 87-75 record and since the Cardinals had a bad year we both tied for the division lead so we had a one game do or die match to see who would win the division. Somehow this game my 2nd baseman had to sit out the most important game of the season but we still won 12-9 luckily. my 2nd Baseman finished the year off with 286AB 88H 6HR 38RBI .308avg I finished 3rd in Rookie of the Year votes only because Alex Guerrero of the Dodgers who won had 499AB 108H 12HR 55RBI .216avg, so since he had more at bats his stats were better so they gave it to him unfortunately.

    Playoffs

We went on to face the Nationals in the NLDS and got swept in 3 games and over the course of the 3 games our team only scored 2 runs compared to the Nationals 22. Even though my second baseman had a 800. batting average over the course of the 3 games our team had a lot of hits but just not at the right times we weren't able to produce any runs and our pitchers struggled so we had a quick exit from the playoffs after fighting so hard to get there. We weren't satisfied with our little taste and defiantly plan on being in the post season much longer in 2015.

    Off-Season

I immediately signed a 1yr deal for 500,000 already knowing the team basically owns me for 6years and I wont get what im worth until im able for arbitration.

Theo Epistein was busy and signed SP Max Scherzer to a 4yr contract worth 44mil. They let Mike Olt become a free agent in order to give Kris Bryant his chance.

Now we have a nice SP rotation of Scherzer 88ovr, Samardzija 86ovr, Wood 79ovr, Arrieta 77ovr, Jackson 77ovr, and with 2 nice RP Tyler Clippard 82ovr who we traded Javier Baez for last season and Pedro Strop 78ovr. We have the pitchers to keep us in every game now.

Our infield is full of potential stars 1B Rizzo 83ovr, 2BFinger 79ovr (that's My Dude), 3B Kris Bryant 73ovr , SS Castro 86ovr,

Our catcher is average Castillo 75ovr

Our outfield is full of young potential LF Lake 73ovr, CF Ruggiano 71ovr, RF Jorge Soler 70ovr and plus our young stud CF Albert Almora is on the rise up 66ovr

So we have a young lineup with some nice pitching and our hoping to go far this year in the playoffs. well time to start training camp.

    First Game of training Camp

Our Newly acquired Ace Scherzer had a terrible game pitching 2 inning giving up 9 Hits and 7 runs

Rising Superstar 2nd Baseman Jerry Finger went 4-5 with 1 run scored in a 6-10 loss for the Cubs even though both teams were tied with 12 hits a piece.

Cubs can hit with the best of them just gotta start producing runs and pitchers gotta be better.

Do you guys watch and read everything as it plays out on the little screen when your player isn't hitting or having a fielding opportunity or do you just instantly press O and skip to your players next play.

The only reason I ask is because I feel like the other team scores more when I press O than when I watch/read everything that's happening in the game.

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread

Started a career as a first baseman. I got drafted in the second round by the Atlanta Braves. I was dominating AA ball and got called up to AAA after only 31 games.

Started out a little slow in AAA but found my groove quickly. I ended up being traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks, which didn't make me too happy. I made the AAA all star team and played in the Futures game. Unfortunately I broke my hand stretching a single into a double mid august.

The injury forced me to miss the rest of the season. I resigned with Arizona (only team to offer a contract) and I made the MLB team.

25 games into the season I have only started ONE game due to Paul Goldschmidt. I tried switching to the outfield to get more playing time but so far it hasn't helped. As I am typing this I decided to ask for a trade because I don't want to waste my time pinch hitting.

        AA Stats- 31 games, .372 avg, 8 hrs, 23 rbis, .665 slug, .383 obp
        AAA Stats- 83 games, .348 avg, 27 hrs, 82 rbis, .701 slug, .369 obp
        MLB Stats- 25 games (31 abs), .355 avg, 2 hrs, 6 rbis, .645 slug, .375 obp

Here's hoping I can get traded to a team who needs a first baseman or DH.

I just usually skip it. Most times, Seattle are able to handle their own when I simulate and sometimes they have a good inning with a few runs/HRs.

            Quick Update

I asked about ten times to be traded and the team couldn't trade me. So I said screw it and simulated the rest of the season. Some attributes took a hit as I couldn't get enough points to upgrade them all. The Diamondbacks made the postseason and ended up beating The Rays in seven games to win the World Series.

Ended the year batting .269 (160 AB), 11 hrs, .531 slug, .306 obp

To my surprise The D Backs offered me a 1 year $500K MLB STARTER contract. My first thought was is Goldschmidt a free agent and they didn't sign him? Nope apparently the game decided I should start over a much better player.

I played some of spring training and then simulated some. Now I'm only 8 games in but so far I am having a killer season.

            .432 avg, 3 hrs, 9 rbis, .784 slug, .447 obp.

Debating on asking for a trade/switch position so Goldschmidt doesn't ride the bench.

Started a new one as a starting pitcher. I got drafted by the Diamondbacks. I only spent about a month, maybe two, in Double A, and then called up to the triple A roster. I was the starting pitcher in my first game, then pulled my groin. I missed a few games, and now I'm just a rotational pitcher. I'm playing all of my appearances in this one.

I started another RTTS career and I decided to go as an starting pitcher name Tyler Santana. I was drafted 2nd round by the Chicago Whitesox and I did very well on Double A, striking batters out left and right, plus I didn't gave up an single HR.

Moving forward, we faced against the Huntsville Stars and I got my first career shutout. I was nervous in innings 6-9, I nearly flipped out when the first baseman got his foot off the plate, but it was ruled an error by the third baseman.

I got called up to the Whitesox organization and my first MLB opponent was the New York Yankees. I played 8 innings, 10 Ks and gave up 3 hits. My proudest moment is striking out Mark Teixeira, Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter.

Anyone else having an incredibly tough time keeping your stats up as a reliever? Seems like I can't earn enough points as an MLB closer to keep them from deteriorating and making me lose overall points.

BTW: I'm the closer for the Giants in 2018. We're hanging on to the 2nd wild card spot by a few games heading into September.

That's what bothers me, stars riding the bench. I have a 1B playing for the Tigers (AAA still), will I play over Miggy? I sure hope not.

I did have a 2B in Detroit, and Ian Kinsler got demoted to AAA. Later promoted back as the DH.

Yea it makes no sense to me. I wish they would give us a little more freedom with the rosters to make up for poor computer logic. Of course the logical thing would be to have better computer roster logic.

With my situation my secondary position is OF so why wouldn't the coach play me in the OF so both Goldschmidt and I will play? My team would be much better with the trio of Goldschmidt, Trumbo and me.

With my situation my secondary position is OF so why wouldn't the coach play me in the OF so both Goldschmidt and I will play? My team would be much better with the trio of Goldschmidt, Trumbo and me.
You can change your primary position to your secondary position and force the manager to play you in the outfield and to start Goldschmidt. That's exactly what I did in my RTTS player. I'm at first base now as a primary position, but it used to be LF. Once I'm on a new team, or if my primary position loses the depth it has, then I'll make the switch back.

To me this is the only way to kind of avoid what you're experiencing.

Yea I will have to try this especially since my team just traded away Trumbo (dumb move) for a closer. They ended up flipping the closer for Brett Gardner.

I still don't like the moves because Trumbo and I were like the M&M boys. Ok so not as good as those two but pretty close. Hopefully Paul and I can do as well.

                            Thanks for the tip.

Hmm not sure if they patched this or what but I can't switch my primary position. I can only switch my secondary position. Not sure if this maybe has to do with playing first base or what.

You definitely can't. I wanted to change it three weeks ago and saw that I couldn't..

Man that's horrible to hear guys. I'm assuming this issue is more prevalent in the NL since there is no DH. I know what I did with the angels when playing outlier was asked to be switched to 3b which was our weakest position overall wise. My guy was an outfielder with outfield as his secondary position, so he wasn't actually a 3b but it was the best solution I could come up with to avoid having star or good players ride the bench. Maybe that could help?
