A little progress on my AAA adventures. First couple games weren't too good. First game gave up 3 runs, second 4, winning one and losing one. Next couple games settled down, giving up 0 runs but no decision the 3rd game, and giving up 1 run and won that game. That brought my ERA down to 2.96 after four games. Got rocked next two games however. Game 5 saw me give up 6 runs on 9 hits after only 3 innings. The next game I also lost, giving up 3 runs on 4 hits. So after six games, my record stands at 2-3, 4.50 ERA, 37 IP, 38K's.

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread
Are you guys playing through all your minor league games or simming them?
I am about 10 games into the minors and its fun, but I'm not so great at the game (although I am batting .300) so I am only getting about 25-40 training points for game.
These points generally only enable me to bump up one attribute by one notch after each game. It feels like at this pace I'll need over 100 games to make some significant improvements to my attributes.
Being new to the MLB series, I'm not sure what the right/best way is to approach this? Is RTTS mainly about playing in the minors and long long eventually making it to the majors? Or are you supposed to get to the majors more quickly?
I guess the main thing I'm trying to figure out is whether its normal to earn such few points each game and at this rate whether it'll take forever to build up the attributes.
Thanks!Last edited by Kirkel13; 05-10-2014, 01:26 PM.Comment

Also, does anybody have any stealing tips? I usually get the steal, but only get 2 points because I had a "bad jump" but I feel like any time I try to extend the lead off, I get picked off.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread
I created Xzavier Russell, a speedy, contact first 2nd basemen. Did alright in the showcase, got drafted 3rd round by the Reds.
Already a 92 speed, I'm really hoping the Reds keep both Billy Hamilton and me to cause havoc on the base paths.
Overall working towards making him a 30-30 kind of player.Comment

What do all of the icons on the lineup screen mean? I assume the snowflake is cold streak and flame is hot streak, but I'm not sure what the others mean (I think this screenshot has all the ones I've seen).Attached FilesComment

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread
Question:
I am playing as a first baseman. When my player is holding a runner on at first and then takes a step off as the pitch is being delivered I find it very hard to get him back to the bag. Even the slightest tap of the joystick to the left sends him off into foul territory and I have to tap right again to get him back to the bag.
Is there a trick for this I am missing?Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread
The double stars are minor league all-stars
For single stars: black is your RTTS player, red is an AL all star, blue is NL.
A green circle with an R is a rookie
The hot and cold you already know
A purple circle with a 5 is a rule 5 draft pick
A blue circle with a W is someone on wavers
I think that's it, someone DFA may have one too but I don't remember.PSN: KMRBlue1027

Ricky Ng - SP Fresno Grizzlies (AAA)
Finally got my first complete game shutout against the Round Rock Express. The final stats for the game are 9.0 IP, 0.00 ERA, 6 Hits, 0 BB's, 11 K's, 125 pitches. It actually got quite hairy at the last inning. Got the first batter out easily. Second batter should have been out, easy grounder to SS, but he way overthrew it to first and went out, so the batter advanced to 2nd base. Very next guy, I couldn't locate pitches at all and the count went to 3-0. Battled back to 3-2 and stuck him out with a high fastball. If I walked him I'm sure I would have been taken out cause my pitch count was already in the 110's. Last guy got him to 2-2 before striking him out with a low slider away.
This should have actually been my 2nd consecutive complete shutout game. Previous game after eight innings, my stats were 5 hits, 0 walks, 7 K's, and 0.00 ERA. I was up to bat the last inning so they pinch hit me. But I should have stayed in for the shutout since we were winning 4-0! Lost opportunity for a shutout there.
This shutout brings my ERA back to a respectable 3.00.Now Playing: MLB 11: The Show, Battlefield BC2, Pokemon White, Portal 2, Mass Effect 2 (still), COD: Black Ops, FIFA '11

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread
So I just started my RTTS pitcher yesterday .. Drafted by the royals and began my season. I pitched pretty solid through 5 maybe 6 starts at AA with very high strike outs and low 3 ERA.
Then .. I was called up to the majors??!? Has this happened to any body else? Getting a May call up I'm there first year and skipping AAA entirely?Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread
I finished my 1st season with my RF. I played in 94 MLB games and hit a miserable .215 with 9 HR, 37 RBI and 37 Runs. I also had 5 errors on the year which knocked my fielding percentage to .982.
The Chicago White Sox ended up 80-82, 14 games behind Detroit for 1st in the Central and 8 games behind the Athletics for the 2nd Wildcard.
Hopefully I have a better season in year two.. I have no idea why I wasn't demoted to AAA during the season, because they didn't send me back I am no longer a rookie and can't win the RotY."I'm all about that action, boss." - Marshawn Money Lynch

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread
I finished up the little showcase and got drafted in the 4th round by the Rays. This is awesome because I'm hoping that I eventually get to play a bit for the local Durham Bulls. I'm currently with Montgomery in AA though. I'm in right field and I found trying to locate the ball in the air a little tricky at first. I seemed to get a little better by my third game though. Looking forward to this mode.Comment
