It seems that I pop up quite a bit or hit a ball out to the warning track...any suggestions? I have seen a couple hitting strategy posts on the board, and have looked them over.

What I currently do is begin the PCI up in the zone, and then react to a low strike pitch but it seems that my thumb pushes to far down it turns into a pop up as my PCI ends up to far down in the zone.[/B][/I] This has always been a problem for me lol.

My other question is when I view the pitcher breakdown and all that by pressing the select button and want to look at the current pitcher, it doesn't appear all his pitches show up on the graph even though everything is selected to all. For instance if I want to look at first pitches for him for the entire time, it only shows 3 or 4 pitches even though we may be in the 5th inning and he's faced 20 batters. Is this a glitch or am I an idiot?
First I would suggest to STOP trying to react to pitches down in the zone, if you're looking (and holding your PCI) up in the zone. Just take them. Unless you have two strikes on you, it's ok to take a strike here and there in order to wait for a better pitch to hit, and clearly you're not hitting them well anyway, so stop swinging at them. With 2 strikes, you can expand and make sure you don't strike out, but until then, if it's not in the spot you want, just take it. A lot of the time, the pitches that you think will be low strikes may end up dropping below the zone anyway. The main thing you DON"T want to be doing is moving your PCI really far as the pitch is coming, because like you said, you're gonna move it too far and mess up. Guess an area of the zone and make SMALL corrections if it's close. If it's not close, take it. Don't move your PCI all over the dang place, that's how you make weak contact.

If you're still having problems after that, bump the Solid Hits slider up a little. No one will judge you.

As for your second question, I'm 99% sure that you can only see YOUR at-bats in that UI. It doesn't show at-bats that were simmed.

    Hope that helps.

You need to use training points to train each of your attributes occasionally, otherwise they will begin to regress. Go to the Training screen, and if you see a yellow down arrow next to an attribute, that means it's going to begin regressing within a week. If there's a red down arrow, that means it's already begun regressing. For A potential players, regression begins after 2 months of not touching an attribute. I'm not sure if it starts earlier for lower potential players.

Try pitching a game or two first and seeing how you perform. Feel like you can't overpower hitters? Increase velocity. Can't throw strikes? Increase Control. You do everything well but run out of energy in the 5th? Increase Stamina.

          It's not rocket surgery.

Finished 2017 with a career best year. .328 batting average with 36 HR and 83 RBI. Helped lead the Marlins to the postseason wildcard spot. Which was disappointing since we led the division all year and let it slip at the end. We lost 2-1 to the Padres in the Wildcard at home in a game where I got no help, 3/4 with our only RBI.
Anyways 2018 has been great, about a week before the all star break and I'm killing it. Batting .367 with 25 HR and 83 RBI

I'm usually more of a franchise player then an rtts but I needed a break so I created a ss for the orioles. After starting in AA I was moved to AAA after 130ish abs I was moved to AAA where I led the team in avg, 2nd in RBI, 4th in HR I was only offered a AAA bench contract. A month and a half into it and I'm taking yet still on the bench hitting around .415. I'm considered a top 50 spec, the o's chose not to resign hardy and have a 72 rated player starting at short yet I'm rated an 82 and I can't get off the AAA bench. Logic is clearly terrible in this mode. Anyone else been stuck in this situation and if so how long did it take u to atleast start again in AAA.

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread

Well I'm at the All-Star break in my first season of flame throwing SP "Captain" Kirk Schaeffer's career and I thought it would be a good time for another update.

In my last post the 18yo phenom had been called up from AA by the struggling Twins and though he has had some growing pains, Captian has been pretty effective posting a 5-1 record in his first 11 MLB starts. He should have at least two more W's as two consecutive games he had pitched 8 shutout innings before the pen blew it in the 9th. He also has had some consistency issues with his delivery, which has lead to me changing it twice to find a more repeatable delivery that still provides the desired angle on his breaking pitches.

Captain has struggled to keep runners off base at times and has given up 7HRs in 11 MLB starts after not allowing a single HR in AA. However, he has been able to limit the damage and overall he has been better than expected for an 18yo pitcher called up from AA. At the break, Captain's ERA sits at 2.02 and he holds a fantastic 98/8 K/BB ratio across his first 80 MLB innings.

Over the second half of the season "Captain" need's to work on lowering his whip which currently sits at 1.00 and definitely allow fewer HR's. I'm also hoping the twins defense improves as there has been way to many infield hits allowed and the OF have made some truly awful decisions when bringing the ball back to the infield. At the break the Twins sit 38-57 and are 24.5 games out of 1st, so it will be interesting to see if they make any moves prior to the trade deadline.

                I'll update soon.

I actually won the Triple Crown. I must have hit 15 HR in the final month to get it as I finished with a .338 average, 48 HR, and 138 RBI. My team the Braves won 110 games, most in the MLB, as I head to the playoffs again. We won the World Series in 2014, lost in the NLCS in 2015, so hoping we go all the way again this year.

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread

After collapsing and losing the division in 2017, we flipped the script in 2018. Trailing Atlanta by 4.5 games entering august we came together and got it going. We entered the final 3 games behind Atlanta by 2 and tied with Cincy for the last wildcard spot. Ironically our final series was at Atlanta. We took games 1&2 leaving us tied with them for the division on the last day of the season, exactly like last season. We were also tied with Cincy still. We beat Atlanta 7-2 to win the division.
And after hitting .320 and blasting 46 Homeruns and 142 RBI's I won the NL MVP for the first time, as well as the 3B Silver Slugger for back to back years.
So we open to Divisional round vs the LA Dodgers. They have home advantage and win games 1&2 so heading back to Miami we've gotta win 3 in a row. We squeeze out game 3 then pour it on in Game 4 to send it back to LA where we squeeze by 3-2 to complete the comeback and advance.
Next up is NL Leading St. Louis. We drop game 1 on the road but win game 2 so heading back to Miami it's what we want, tied 1-1 with 3 at home. Well, game 3 is devastating losing 2-1 after giving up both runs in the 9th. I only hit 1/5 but I did have our only RBI. Then game 4 is another blow, down 9-2 we score 1 in the 8th and 6 in the 9th to tie, then a back and forth in extras leaves us on the short end in a 14 inning game. And leaves us down 3-1. What was more frustrating was going 0/7. Game 5 seemed to be the fat lady singing, down 2-0 in the 7th with only 1 hit. Leading off 0/3 I was about to pack it up and make my money (contract year, 93 ovrl). But I blast a 2-1 change up over the fence in center to get us on the board, and the team follows my lead as we bat around and put up 5 to take the 5-2 lead and hold them off 5-3 to win Game 5 and send it back to STL down 3-2. The offense continued in Game 6, lead by my 2 HR's we beat the Cards 10-1 to tie it up and force game 7. And again I lead the Marlins with 2 HR's and all 3 RBI's to finish the comeback and send Miami to the WS on a 3-2 win.
                    Next up, Detroit.

The Marlins have made a lot of moves in the last 2 years. And have ended up with a very good team including acquiring Tanaka from the Yanks which surprised me. Just hope it isn't completely a win now focus

Finished out my 2016 season on the Braves last night with a World Series Championship over the Rangers. My player had a career year in 2016 and it really makes me wish this game had some kind of trophy room or something. I won the MVP, Postseason MVP, and 2B Gold Glove and I wish I could see them somewhere other than that long scrolling list in the Locker Room. It would be cool to see a case of World Series rings as well since my player has two of them now.

After struggling mightily trying to create a position prospect, I tried once again this past weekend to have a 3B RTTS player get drafted relatively high. Using Matt Carpenter as a base, my 3B struggled as an 18 year old in the first edition of the Prospect games, so I went back to school for 3 years and came out again and put on a show, ranking as an A prospect and going 11th overall to the Rockies. Since being drafted, I'm ripping the cover off the ball, and seeing the ball really well. Granted it's in AA, but still, .400+ with 3HRs and 14 RBI just three weeks into the season is a huge improvement over being a D prospect as I was in my past attempts.

In the offseason (2018) I signed a 2 yr, 14.8 Million deal with Miami which will get me to my 6 years of MLB Service when I hope to resign with Miami but I wanna be the highest paid player in baseball.
So 2019 started slow, but I've gotten my avg back up to .297 and I'm now 2nd in HR's at 15 and I lead in RBI's at 51 as the Marlins sit atop the NL East at 40-16

Well, we won the NL East in 2019 but they traded away some of our Better assets for bad aging players, I don't get that. We lost 3-1 to the cards in the NLDS. 2020 has been tough, just 7 over .500, I'm off too. Unlike in 2019 when at the break I had 24 HR and 90 RBI, this year I'm just at 18 HR and 60 RBI. PLus it's becoming annoying how fast my stats will start to regress, they cost so much.

You're completely right. That's why I was surprised when I was stuck with the Twins for 6 seasons in MLB 14. Is there a way to negotiate with other teams in free agency early?
