Re: MLB 14 The Show Q & A (PS4)
It also looks like a higher probability of regression as a player ages. The older he is the greater odds of regression. The severity and time it begins seems different every sim.
I honestly think it is well done the more I look at it.

Sorry slip up with Tapatalk.
Potential should be rated as expected. They can hit it, exceed it, or fall short and so can current players.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Q & A (PS4)
Budgets are vastly improved I have actually done about 5 sims past 2021 today. The last sim I tried manipulating the budgets by renewing all A prospects at 2 million and making sure there were no cheap long term arbitration signings. By 2021 I bankrupted about 2/3 the teams...lol. I am going to try and not play god too much. By just letting the CPU do their thing there was no problems, for those people about to freak out.
I have found great ways to manipulate the budgets now. Starting salaries and salaries in general are determined by potential. You can edit the potential up for some older players and drive salaries up, without affecting their stats are progression. I started a franchise by moving some B potential players to A.
I saved each year of my sim, because I was also looking at progression and regression and to be honest this is the part that I love the most. Franchise is truly dynamic now! I was thinking of the roster makers and Knight today. Working on a roster used to take the fun out of franchise because you could predict how players would develop. That is gone. In each sim, players regressed at different ages or different speeds. Check your emails if you get a player is starting to struggle...look out. I have seen players like Beltran drop from a 90 to a 77 in the first year, to dropping only to a 87 in a different sim. This goes for all players. I've seen trout start to regress at 26, 27 and the sims where he is a 99 still at 31.
Budgets seem to be capped now at 15%, I had wanted 13%, but this looks good. Teams are also decreasing budgets now as well. After year one there is a more direct correlation to record and budgets.
There are a few things that I would love to see still touched up that are kind of frustrating. I really believe there must be a bug with the Phillies and Yankees, they are always in rebuild mode and dump players no matter the record or time of year. Even if I get them to a normal strategy they are placing guys on the trade block and trading them that should not be. They also do not want to sign players in the offseason. I was always offering contracts for them.
The other thing is the trades. I have seen in the past the same player traded multiple times in a season, but nothing like this. I have seen players traded 5-6 times in a season and sometimes 3 times in the same day. There needs to be a modifier attached when a player is traded so they are not traded more than twice In a season. Teams get completed shuffled to just shuffle. Seems as if a team will trade a player to swap around the league and then trade back for the player they originally traded.
I really think rp are way too valued. I have seen two A players traded for a rp, that should be toned as well.
All in all it is great.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Q & A (PS4)
Basically all I want is a message like "Player X is not able to utilize his raw power due to his approach at the plate. I don't think he's going to hit for as much power as we thought." or "Pitcher Y does not have the command of a #1, he's more of a #3."
I guess it would make more sense if we ever had separate potentials for individual skills, but any kind of reason would be better than the generic "starting to struggle" messages (which don't really make sense anyway since the player's skills don't drop at that point).
I mean, I'm not saying players should be reaching their full potential on a consistent basis... Just give me a reasonable explanation why so I actually feel like I'm running a team.
Its not just prospects, but it looks like there is performance tied to it. The emails stating that a player is struggling is a sign.
It also looks like a higher probability of regression as a player ages. The older he is the greater odds of regression. The severity and time it begins seems different every sim.

There usually is a reason why though... Its usually injuries or a significant tool not developing.

Thank you, these were the answers I was looking for. Hearing you say Trout regressed at age 26 brought back some deja vu.
So would a probability rating(of reaching potential)
Both would be along the lines for what you want.(and most)

Re: MLB 14 The Show Q & A (PS4)
Thanks for the detailed posts tabarnes, I'm excited that this is the closest we've ever been to a fully-working single team franchise model. Bring on Tuesday (and let's get that Vita version up to snuff in that department too!)Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Q & A (PS4)
I hope this is the right place but I have questions about baserunning..
When I'm on first, another player on my team is on second in past games the lead runner never attempted a steal..has that changed at all?
I've also never seen the 3rd base coach tell me to hit and runner with runners on first and second..first, yes, but not both bases.
No squeeze plays either..just a lot of base running things they could add.
I'm sure I forgot some as well. Thanks.Favorites:
