Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

    Noles4Ever L.A. Angels Franchise

With the 1st half of the baseball season wrapped up, the Angels sit at 48-47 (4.0 GB) in the AL West division with the Oakland Athletics sitting at 52-43. Texas Rangers at 47-48, Seattle Mariners sitting at 45-50 with the Houston Astros are 42-54. With the division up for grabs for all 5 teams the 2nd half will be a true test for the Angels who will look to get back into the playoffs. Talk about MVP, Mike Trout leads the team in Average (.348), Hits (116), Runs (61), Doubles (22), HR (25) & RBI's (65). Albert Pujols might be only hitting .241 but is 2nd with 21 homeruns and 62 RBI's.

C.J. Wilson leads the team with 9 wins and 3.20 ERA, Tyler Skaggs is 2nd with 8 wins but has a 4.12 era after his last outing he was roughed up. Fernando Sales (8 W / 2.74) and closer Ernesto Frieri (2.81 ERA / 30 saves) are the only two holding down the pen while everyone else has a 4 plus ERA.

Down on the farm Triple A closer Matt Shoemaker has a 3.10 ERA to go along with 30 saves, and R.J. Alvarez has a 1.86 ERA through 38.2 innings with 24 K's. Top prospect Taylor Lindsey leads the team with .313 Average and 14 Homeruns and 55 RBI's not much else to look at. Eric Stamets made the double a all-star game posting a .271 average, 6 homeruns and 78 hits.

    ------ Around the MLB ------

The Athletics lead the AL with the best record with the Royals and Yankees and Red Sox sitting at 50-45, looking at the AL playoffs the only two teams that look to be out of the playoffs are the White Sox who sit at 39-58 (12 GB) and the Astros 42-54 (10 GB), all else are decided by within 7 games or less. Which team will pull off the big trade to push it's team over the edge and get into the playoffs will be the question.

The Dodgers lead the NL with the best record of 57-40 with Pirates (53-42), Cardinals (52-45) both chasing behind. Two surprise teams are the Padres (50-45) and the Phillies (50-45) will be looking at trying to grab a playoff birth, while the Cubs and Reds look to be sellers at 42-53. One hot streak could throw in a wretch in all 3 divisional playoff runs.

First half MVP of the season goes to Prince Fielder (.289 ; 27 HR ; 83 RBI) in the AL, and in the NL Ryan Howard (.294 ; 19 HR ; 69 RBI).

Season is going pretty great with my Orioles franchise, but I do have 1 pretty great problem and wanted to see what you guys would do or if you would just enjoy it. Im playing on HOF difficulty, and all my stats seem about right with some guys really being down but Chris Davis is absolutely crushing the ball. Through 76 games his stats are .358 avg, 41 hr, 84 rbi....those all are really high numbers but again he's the only one doing this so I dont think the sliders or difficulty is the problem. In comparison Machado is batting .278 with 12 hr, 33rbi...Adam Jones is batting .268 with 14 hr, 39 rbi...and Matt Wieters is batting .221 with 8 hr, 23 rbi. Is this just a great season I should continue to enjoy?

The most hr by the all star break is 39*( Barry Bonds), the most rbi's is 103, Hank Greenberg. It can happen. hey it's a video game, if your having fun with it keep going!

Just finished a 4 game set vs the D-Backs in my Cubs Franchise. Took 3 of 4 because Rizzo was mashing! 12 hits, 4 HR, 10 rbi in the 4 games! Now 2 gb of the Cardinals in 4th place coming to the end of April.

Yankees franchise: simmed to today's date. Yankees are slightly better in tems of record than IRL as the Yanks have 40 wins. New York is two games behind the LA Angels for the top wild card spot. Tomorrow's game at Toronto: lost in a heart breaker. I was up 1-0 to start the ninth, and brought in my closing pitcher. He gets two outs but gives up two runs, Yanks lose 2-1.

Seems like a really long good stretch but id take it, man. You honestly don't know how long it will last. He could go down with an injury or just hit a cold stretch. Beltran and Cervelli (idk, right?!) were crushing it the first month and a half in, but are awful for me now. Beltran is floating around .250-.260

I will give a season update at the ASB, but man, I drafted a 6'3", 199 LB, third basemen. He's MLB ready (low 70 rating), high B++ prospect and sky is the limit. His bat has solid contact on both L/R, and 15-20 HR power his first yr. great arm and decent fielding (first boost priority). I also drafted some other good prospects for pitching. I really just drafted by greatest talent on the table instead of taking positions of need. I know I can loan players per year with my payroll to cover for the short term.

Really excited with the ability to transfer saves so all these things matter now.

Just got to the end of july and im 58-50 and 1 game up on Boston in the division. Chris Davis has slowed down a little but he's still sitting at 54 hr and 113 rbi on the year. Ill update again at the end of august.

Just took 2 out of 3 from the Marlins for the first 3 game series versus them this year. Bringing my record to 8-14 9GB of a now struggling Nats team who started off on a 17-0 run.

Game 1: went to the Marlins 2-1 Beachy pitched excellent just couldn't get the bats going against Jacob Turner of the Marlins.. Turner went 6IP,2K,0BB & his bullpen did the rest.

Game 2: I won 3-0. SS Simmons went 3 for 4, 2B. Teheran shut em down, 9IP,7K, 3H CG SHO.

                    Game 3: I won 6-1. Freeman got on 3 for 4, HR & 3 runs scored. Heyward 2 for 4, 2B & 2 runs scored. Uggla had a 3R HR. Medlen was excellent. 9IP 6H 5K 1ER.

Nothing like saving the bullpen when you can and I did that for two games.

The Reds are next to the Ted for a 3 game weekend set.

Did a Royals Fantasy Draft Franchise to pass time the other day, this is what I got. Needless to say, this team is fun to play with:

                        1. CF Billy Hamilton
                        2. 1B Eric Hosmer - Hit for cycle with him other day
                        3. RF Yasiel Puig
                        4. LF Yoenis Cespedes
                        5. DH Darren Ruf - I hit extremely well with him
                        6. 2B Jedd Gyrko
                        7. 3B Nolan Arenado
                        8. C Yasmani Grandal
                        9. SS Xander Bogaerts

Not to mention a strong rotation with a ton of upside

                        1. Gerrit Cole
                        2. Sonny Gray
                        3. Mike Minor
                        4. Zach Wheeler
                        5. Vance Worley

The pen really doesn't have any major notables, in a sense that I don't have a grade A shutdown closer, although I have a formidable SU in Drew Storen. A deadline deal (if I make it that far) will bring in someone who deals that's a bit more recognizable.

I only have Worley in there because I prefer Kyle Zimmer, Noah Syndergaard, Marcus Stoman get more seasoning in AAA before I bring them up. I also have Kris Bryant too in the system

I'm 50 games into my Met franchise(second time around...first time I was about 55 games in...when I realized I didn't have "control" of one of the N.L. teams(I use 30 team control for some things)
                          I'm 24-26.....
-Chris Young is horrible...... .176 2 HR in limited play
-Curtis Granderson......coming out of a horrific slump to start...batting just over .200 with 10 HR's....but is near the top in K's. He's a K machine.
-Lucas Duda is raking....near the top in avg....only 9 HR's...

But my biggest surprise and MVP so far.....OMAR QUINTINILLA!!!
I use him not quite as a regular...but as often as possible at 3B/SS/2B. Here is why it's more important sometimes to just go with it....regardless of attributes as he is a 48/42 contact 40/31 power...but in 35 games played...he's hitting .338 with 3 HR's and 18 RBI for me.
He gets a start whenever I can get him in until his streak is over....(hopefully it's the whole season long! )

                          M.K.

119 games in with the White Sox and I'm 56-63. I was 2.5 games back of Detroit heading into a pivotal 3 game series before the trade deadline. I use 30 team control and sent Garrett Jones, Jimmy Rollins, and reliever Mike Dunn to the Tigers. I was swept, handily and fell 5.5 games back. In the series I gave up 37 runs in 3 games. The trade I made for Dillon Gee to bolster my rotation has been a disaster, he's stunk so far. I also added Kevin Slowey for a long relief/spot starter role and surprisingly he's done well.

After that massacre against Detroit, I faced the Rangers, swept, again. This time I gave up 28 runs in three games. It was a dumpster fire, now, Im 8.5 GB of Detroit and I have buyers remorse thinking I should I have been a seller at the deadline as this team clearly overachieved.

-Paul Konerko and Conor Gillaspie lead the team in HRs with 20 a piece

-Zone Hitting saved this game for me, I used timing prior and there is nothing more disheartening than getting down a few runs and knowing you have no chance to come back because of this ridiculous hitting mechanic, I wish I had made the switch sooner, I am still losing, but at least my whole team isn't going 0-4 with 4 groundouts

                              Offseason Outlook: New York Yankees

By: Jason Strong |ESPNNewYork.com [November 3, 2014 at 1:27 pm CDT]

After a dreadful season in 2013 and a tumultuous offseason highlighted by the year-long suspension of Alex Rodriguez, the signing of Masahiro Tanaka, and the retirement announcement of Derek Jeter, the Yankees won the World Series in 2014. How will GM Brian Cashman continue to rebuild the organization with a blend of youth and experience?

                              Guaranteed Contracts
                              • Masahiro Tanaka, SP
                              • Cliff Lee, SP

                              Arbitration Eligible Players
                              • Ivan Nova, SP
                              • Shawn Kelley, RP
                              • Pedro Strop, RP

                              Free Agents
                              • Jason Hammel, Brian Roberts, Brendan Ryan, Kendrys Morales, Hiroki Kuroda (retired), Derek Jeter (retired), Ichiro Suzuki (retired), Alfonso Soriano, Juan Pierre, Brett Gardner, David Robertson

The Yankees will have a chance to sign a few key free agents to solidify the rotation and the infield. Given the troubles of developing talent through the farm system. Targets for the offseason include Max Scherzer, Chase Headley/Pablo Sandoval, Jed Lowrie, and depth options for the infield and outfield to replace Ichiro, Morales, and Soriano. With John Ryan Murphy returning from the D.L. the Yankees will have 4 ML ready catchers. GM Brian Cashman will need to decide who will need to be traded to help the team going forward. Also, the Yankees will need to rely on the young guys in Javier Baez, Avisail Garcia, David Phelps, Manny Banuelos, and more to provide the necessary impact to remain competitive and perhaps build a new core of young talent in the Bronx.

Right now, I'm 2-7 during the spring with the Brewers. I think I'm finding a good difficulty blend with dynamic, and I plan on using it moving forward. I'm still really struggling with the pitching though.

I've flipped back and forth between meter and pulse, even doing practice sessions before playing, and I can't get the hang of it. I'm at around 60 walks in 9 games. Meter feels more responsive to me, but I struggle when I put in a lefty or if I've got someone using a full windup.

Batting has been feast or famine, but I'm learning the strike zone and how to read the pitches much better than I was when I got the game.

Overall, I'm glad I picked up the Show and I'm really impressed with the depth the game has.
