My offense was struggling big time to start the first 10 games. I was hitting under .200 as a team and my controller was in danger of being shattered on the ground. Hitting in this game can be extremely frustrating to say the least.

    Game #11 @ the Angels

16 runs on 20 hits! Amazingly I hit 10 doubles and 2 HR's (both Dominguez). My team BA is now .221 but at least I have some confidence at the plate and can hopefully get it to a respectable level. It felt amazing to absolutely hammer the Angels in that game after my struggles. Dominguez went 4-6 with 2 HR, 1 2B, 4 RBI and leads the team with a .351 avg 4 HR 11 RBI in 11 games.

People might remember my Bubba Starling trade of last season...well here are his stats through 11 games:

    ABs - 39
    Hits - 2 (1 2B!)
RBI - 4 (had 3 in that 16 run game)
    Bavg - .051
    OBP - .075 (1 BB vs 17 K's)

I don't know if there could possibly be a worse start to a season lol

      Nope

And in my last game I lost 14-0 to Texas. Scheppers CG 12 K 5 H 1 BB

I played baseball my entire life through college...and in high school/travel ball I was a solid hitter. I've hit 90+ MPH fastballs but for some reason I can't judge the pitchers in this game to save my life. Maybe my vision is leaving me at 29...

I have pitch speed on 0 and I'm still late. I need it to go into the negatives...

I can't do zone because I suck. Too many moving parts but I might just try it again...I'm desperate lol

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

Lost last night as my Orioles to the Rays in the ALCS. I sat there heartbroken s they desecrated my stadium:

This was the play the ended my season:

After the offseason in which I signed Davis and Wieters to long term deals, brought back Markakis, and signed Denard Span to play LF and lead off, here is my current lineup:

        LF Span
        3B Machado
        RF Markakis
        CF Jones
        1B Davis
        DH Cruz
        SS Hardy
        C Wieters
        2B Schoop

        1B/OF Pearce
        OF Lough
        C Joseph
        Util Flaherty

Not much difference as there really wasn't much in FA to choose from. I went after Span to have a legitimate lead off threat, then went to work on my staff. Through a couple of trades (Miguel Gonzalez to the Pirates for Justin Wilson, Hunter/Santana/SS prospect Graman to Reds for Cingrani) and a couple of Rule 5 picks for the pen (Dominic Leone and Corey Knebel), here is my current pitching staff:

        Starters
        Tillman
        Cingrani
        Jimenez
        Gausman
        Chen

        Bullpen
        LR Bundy
        Leone
        McFarland
        Norris
        Knebel
        SU Wilson
        CL Britton

My biggest hole that I went to fix is another solid lefty in the 'pen, although McFarland hasn't been terrible for me, and I have Matusz in AAA. Norris has been an absolute go-to stud for me since I moved him into the bullpen in late 2014.

ALCS loss still stings. But hope springs eternal for 2015, as I beat the Jays in extra innings to begin the year!

NDAlum angering the baseball gods by scoring 16 runs with HOU. That'll teach you!!!

Regarding the hitting, my best advice:

          1. Game Mode
          2. Sit centered to your TV. Seriously, do it.
          3. If your TV is say, 37 inches, sit no further than 6-8 feet away. I'm probably closer to 6.

The second I move my chair or lean back in my seat (which probably moves my eyes an additional foot from the television) I'm immediately late on everything.

I just moved too. It took me THREE DAYS (ask The Chef, he knows! I vented about I during his Twitch streams for like, forever!) to get my sitting position back in perfect place. No kidding.

I think I am going to start over with my Astros franchise and use 30 team control this time, I'm tired of seeing all of the horrible trades.
It's just time consuming to control everything but it will be a change for me so I think I'll have fun doing it

I just put it on Veteran hitting difficulty. I just took it to the Mariners and swept them. They don't have a very good pitching staff 2016.

              Game 1: Beat Walker 7-1 (He threw 5.1, 7 H, 4 ER, 7 K)
              Game 2: Beat Iwakuma 5-3 (He threw 5.0, 7 H, 5 ER, 1 BB, 8 K)
              Game 3: Beat Ramirez 12-5 (He threw 4.0, 6 H, 5 ER, 3 BB, 0 K) Paxton threw 1.2, 8 H, 6 ER, 1 BB, 1 K

I'm 13-6 and on a 5-game win streak. Pitching feels great with the current setup I have. Hitting on veteran is much better. If I continue to hit this well I'll drop my sliders a tad.

I got tired of hitting on AS and having every single pitch half in the zone half out. When I got a pitch to hit I'd put a Normal swing on it and foul it off or pop it up. It just didn't feel rewarding to put a good swing on one. Veteran does at the moment and the balls they throw catch a little bit more of the plate.

Yankees franchise: game at the Twins, it;s tied 3-3 in the eleventh inning and Alex Rodriguez hits a home run. Then, Brett Gardner hit a two run home run. Yankees win 6-3 in eleven innings.

The Yankees are 45-42 as of July 6th. The Orioles lead the AL East at 46-41, the Rays are in second place at 47-43, and the Yankees are in third. The Yankees are a half game back in the AL Wild Card Race; New York is directly tied with the Mariners and the White Sox are in third place (Yankees and Mariners are in 4th and 5th)

Shawn Kelly is on the 15 day DL with a fractured forearm, and Derek Jeter is out a week with an inflamed hip. Brian Roberts is out 15 days with a fractured shin.

                  Kansas City Royals - 38 Games Update - 2014
                  </td></table>

After typing everything for my update my power decided to go out and chrome refused to ask if i wanted to restore my pages. So here is the quick version.

We are now 20-18, and .5 a game back of Minnesota. We lost 8 of 13 but did take our last series vs Seattle. And we saw some very good things in that series.

We hit 10 HR in the 4 games. including 2 from Gordon, Moose and Aoki. Omar Infante has completely turned things around. At the end of April he was hitting .170. 11 days later he is now hitting .256 and is 17 of 39 in June with a .435 AVG. Billy Butlers AVG continues to climb as well. He is now just under .250. That leaves us with only 1 full time starter under .200. Salvador Perez still sucks. He couldnt hit if he was playing Tee-ball.

Pitching has been regressing pretty bad. We are now 15th in ERA. Danny Duffy was sent down to AAA and Justin Marks was called up to take his spot. In his first start he got the win going 7 innings giving up 4 hits and no earned runs. In his 2nd start he went 6 and gave up 3 runs collecting another win. Ventura has a 5.68 ERA in his last 3 starts. And James Shields has lost 3 in a row and posted a 4.35 ERA.

We now get Colorado, Baltimore and Chicago at home the next 9 games.

                    Question for everyone:

If I don't use OSFM in a franchise, will all of the minor leaguers still be FA after the year is over?

Just noticed this in my off season, and it's kind of killed my franchise with so many prospects switching teams.

I'm 99% sure they will be, as I don't think you can edit player contracts in the game.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

                        Why are they free agents?

Most of these players should be renewable and should be picked up by their teams.

Could you elaborate? Are you using 30 team control and do you have contracts set to Manual for you and Auto for the cpu?

I'm not using 30 teams control at all. A lot of the guys in the minors (on my team and others) were not renewable, and had little to no service time.

During the offseason, when you go to your contract status list, anyone with an expiring contract (which should be almost everyone on your 90 man roster) should be selectable (by hitting X on them) to offer a contract to.

If it doesn't say renewable next to the player, I'm assuming it say nothing, correct? I haven't reached the offseason yet so I need a reminder of exactly what it says.

                            Either way:

                            1. You'll need to manually offer these players contracts on your team.
                            2. The CPU should most definitely be automatically signing these players on their own if you are indeed using single team control.

The players don't "need to accept" any offer until much later in the offseason. As long as an offer has been made (of 80% or more of their current contract) the player has no other option but to resign.

What date of the offseason are you? Could you provide a screenshot of where you currently are? And please please please tell me you have a back up save from earlier in the offseason.

I offered anyone that had 'contract renewable' a 30k offer and then renewed them on 2/15. But most of them didn't even have that.

I got the guys resigned that I wanted, but there are prospects that the CPU didn't (and the Rule 5 draft was another HUGE issue, as I was able to draft two B potential guys rated over 70)

I got the guys resigned that I wanted, but there are prospects that the CPU didn't (and the Rule 5 draft was another HUGE issue, as I was able to draft two B potential guys rated over 70)

Right. What I'm saying is that you and the CPU needed to make offers on essentially all 90 of your players regardless of what the menu actually says.

The contracts list should have shown you everyone that hadn't entered the offseason with a multi-year deal. Some will say "Qualified," some will say "Arbitration Eligable," some will say "Contract Renewable," some will say nothing (but this doesn't mean you don't need to make them an offer).

I think I can help you. Are you near your system by chance? Could you go into a Twitch stream so I can see it?
