Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

My Yankees are in a crucial 3 game series with the Rays right now. We have less than 22 games left in the season and going into this game we were in a 4 team race in the East!. Toronto and the Rays right on my heals with the Orioles within striking distance as well.

We took game one without much issue but game two David Price was mowing me down every inning....that is till the 8th inning. Down 2-0 I managed to get a couple of base-runners on via walk and a single. Back-up Francisco Cerevelli started but I had this gut feeling about McCann who has been swinging a hot bat in his last 15 or so games and his power has really come on. Even though Price is a lefty...I rolled the dice.

It paid off as he launched a 3 run shot to RC on a 2-2 two seamer!

    Yankees win 3-2!!!

Game three tonight for the sweep!!!

      Year 2....2015 Met franchise.

The 2015 off season featured a good amount FA movement.
Most notably......Max Scherzer signing with Cleveland(who starts the season against Detroit....Max shut them out! ) and Granderson declining the Mets two year offer at 11.5 mil per for a 3 year deal from Detroit at 13.5 per.

Aging star Aramis Ramirez was being lowballed by Mil ....Chicago(N) and the Angels....so I picked him up for one year to play first and put Duda in the OF for now.(my OF is horrific defensively now....this has to change)....as I've got Duda in LF.....Eric Young in CF and Cody Ross in RF with Willingham(last year trade) and Niewenhuis as the backups....Lagares...far and away my best defensive OF(even at SCEA's low defensive ratings) was horrific this spring(under .200...after hitting sub .200 for his spells in the MLB in 2014) so he'll go to AAA for a bit.
Ike Davis left as well....so I plugged in Kendry Morales as a stop gap backup....(I have some leeway with Duda and Willingham as well for 1B)
I also gave Adam Dunn a 700,000 minor league deal.

      Rolling with...

      SP
      Harvey
      Wheeler
      Gee
      DeGrom
      Niese

      RP
      Torres(Carlos)
      Edgin
      Rice
Valverde(likely to be released...he fell off the cliff)
      Farnsworth
      Black

      CP
      Parnell

      C

      D' Arnaud
      Torrealba(last year FA signing)

      1B

      Ramirez

      2B
      Murphy

      3B
      Wright

      SS
      Lowrie(FA)

      OF
      Duda
      Young
      Ross

      Bench
      Morales
      Tejada
      Willingham
      Niewenhuis

Lost Game 1 of the season to Seattle....Harvey vs. King Felix....2-1....9 hits total with 18 K's...just as you would expect.

Knight, your Mets team is seriously lacking in athleticism, lol. So many 1B/DH types and even your middle infielders are pretty below average there. It'll be interesting to see where your defense ends up ranking. I would think about editing Lagares and tossing him out there to try and hold down the fort in CF (check out the Hybrid v 3 to see how we rated him).

          Tell me about it.
I might have the worst defense in the league...and while my pitching is top notch as far as SP and CP(Parnell gained and pitched stellar last year for me)...my team got old and slow in the off season on the offense/defense.
I'll be looking to make some moves for sure as I'm definitely more of a defense minded "GM" ....but there was SLIM pickin's.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

Well the regular season has concluded for the 2015 baseball season and the playoffs are about to begin. The Red Sox and Royals played a one game playoff to see who would get the final wildcard spot in the AL. The Royals won in 14 innings 5-4.

So now the playoffs are set and here are the matchups:

            AMERICAN LEAGUE

            Wildcard

            Royals at A's

            ALDS

            Wilcard winner at Indians
            Rangers at Rays

            NATIONAL LEAGUE

            Wildcard

            Cubs at Diamondbacks

            NLDS

            Wildcard Winner at Dodgers
            Nationals at Cardinals
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

Knight I'm the opposite: spotty pitching and a horrible bullpen but I've got a lineup that rakes. Saving grace is my OF of Marte-Cutch-Polanco. They all fly around the outfield saving XBH's.

MIF is bad defensively but I've gotten exactly what I wanted: Trevor Plouffe at SS has been solid at the plate as he has 7 HR's for me (21 overall) and he has really come up clutch and kills LHP.

I love playing the game but with Madden/2K/Show it's hard to manage my video game time

I think I'm 66-62 right now. 34 games left!!! It's a damn grind to get through an entire season

Long time site visitor, first time poster. I'm going to try to post info about my franchise when I get some free time, but I kinda wanted to give an overview of what I've been up to. I did 30-team control and I play all 162 games for the New York Yankees and the Washington Nationals. I'm almost to the all-star break. This is where my ocd kicks in and I execute every transaction that's done in real life into the show and I also set each lineup daily to reflect this current season's real life games. The only area I slacked off on was creating players for the draft and international signings, so if the players do not exist on my roster set then it's not 100% accurate but I've done my damnedest. Anyway, hope to post stats, records, maybe game summaries soon.

                    Same here, different games.

Need to get back to my Marlins franchise, though. Loving how it's developing and watching playoff ball has me in that "damn, baseball is almost over" mood and wanting to fill it with MLB14.

Man he's been a stud for me at 1B and is going to have a 25-30 HR year hitting .270 with 90-100 RBI

                        UGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

So I was in the middle of saving my Franchise last night, and as it was saving the power went out in my Neighborhood and I lost my file as it's been corrupted

I'm dejected right now, but I'm not down. I'm going to start a new franchise, but I am not sure of what team to go with. I'm thinking either the TB Rays, NY Mets, Chicago Cubs, or the Miami Marlins. Looking for a challenge really. I'll probably give quick counts a try as well.

This sucks, but it is what it is.

Rays are a fun franchise as are the Marlins. Rockies might be a challenge and they play in a nice park.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

The Marlins had fallen from first to third, but after completing a sweep of the Mets, the team is now tied for 2nd in the NL East, just 1 1/2 games off the pace.

However, the bullpen might be a concern. Carter Capps has not won many friends in his attempt to be closer, and in fact has been optioned to AAA. Fireballer Henry Rodriguez will take Capps' place. In the meantime, A.J. Ramos will give closing a shot. If he falters, Marmol figures to be next man up until Cishek returns from his injury.

Capps drove the last nail in the coffin in that third game of the series with the Mets. Rookie Michael Feliz pitched well, giving up 2 runs in 6 innings of work, striking out 9. The Marlins had a 5-2 lead going into the 9th when Capps just couldn't find three outs. He gave up 3 runs and Marmol came in to keep the game tied at 5.

Lost in the Capps meltdown was the flawless outing from Leone, who struck out the side in the 7th AND 8th innings - six straight K's. His fastball was at triple digits and the slider had good command in break, spelling disaster.

"Should have left Leone in, " Redmond, the Marlins manager, joked after the game, "Maybe he would have struck out nine in a row."

In the bottom of the 9th, the Marlins walk-off magic continued. Both pinch hitters Steve Lombardozzi and Dayan Viciedo drew walks. Chris Taylor couldn't get the job done, but Solano slapped a hard grounder down the first base line to score Lombardozzi with the walk-off run.

The walk-off win was the Marlins 11th of the season through just mid-June, accounting for nearly a third of the team's wins so far.

Yeah man it blows. I was so far. I downloaded The Hybrid v3 roster. Going to do the cleat/equipment edits then most likely roll with TB.
