I'm dejected right now, but I'm not down. I'm going to start a new franchise, but I am not sure of what team to go with. I'm thinking either the TB Rays, NY Mets, Chicago Cubs, or the Miami Marlins. Looking for a challenge really. I'll probably give quick counts a try as well.

This sucks, but it is what it is.
Oh man that's no good. I guess it was in the middle of doing an auto save.

Always a good idea to have 2 save files for a franchise. I do that and alternate save files everytime I save the game. That way if something happens I still have a save file for the current day I was on in the game.

No I was actually manually saving and BOOM power goes out. Someone got into a car accident and hit an electricle box that powers the neighborhood.

That does suck. I have 3 save files I rotate through after each game just in case one gets corrupted or something like this happens. Worst case scenario I lose a game or two. Good luck on your new franchise.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

Currently sitting at 73-48 on August 14th in my Rays franchise. 1st place in the AL East and 1.5 games ahead of the Red Sox. Just had my 6 game winning streak snapped in a 2-0 loss to Yu Darvish and the Rangers. I was very close to being no hit. I broke up the no hitter in the 9th with James Loney on a 1 out base hit up the middle. Darvish is really tough in this game. I struck out 12 times too.

Chris Archer started for the Rays and received only his 2nd loss of the whole season so far to fall to 16-2. His first loss was on May 10th to the Indians. During the stretch between then to now, Archer had a stretch where he won 12 straight starts. Pretty impressive.

Archer is 16-2 with a 2.35 ERA, 167 strikeouts, 65 walks, and a 1.13 WHIP in 160.2 innings pitched. Opposing hitters are batting .200 against him. He is currently leading the Cy Young Award voting.

Having such a blast with this Rays franchise. Hoping it ends with the postseason and World Series Championship.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

Felt like taking a break from my main franchise, and use a couple of players I didn't get a chance to play with. So I went with a Fantasy Draft...

I first made a complete Homerun Derby tournament, to select my team, picking one player from each team (multiple derbys). The Final-8 were Miguel Cabrera (DET), Mike Trout (LAA), Yoenis Cespedes (OAK), Robinson Cano (SEA), Giancarlo Stanton (MIA), Bryce Harper (WAS), Carlos Gonzalez (COL) and Yasiel Puig (LAD).

...and the winner was: Yasiel Puig !

So I went with the Dodgers, who ultimately received the 18th pick going in. I'm very pleased with the final result, probably the best Fantasy Draft I've had in this game to date...I think. Here's the complete line-up:

I've never lost a file thankfully, but I always go with three save files just to be safe. I just always save to the oldest file and still save often. That way if I lose one I haven't lost much. Usually one game or so.

                  That does suck though.

Just saw zippy does the same thing I do. It is a simple thing to do and helps me not worry about losing all the time I've put into a franchise or RTTS.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

I am up 2-0 on the Nationals in the NLDS. I won both games, on walk off hits in the 9th.

Game 1..Oscar Taveras was up with 2 outs and tripled off the right field wall. Next batter up, is Randal Grichuk who proceeds to shoot a ball back up the middle scoring Taveras.

Game 2.. With Grichuk on 2B after drawing a walk and being bunted over by Gardner. Carpenter lines out to Mauer at first so we have two outs. Next up is Holliday who doubles off the center field wall to bring home Grichuk and allow us to win the 2nd straight of the series on a walk off hit in the 9th.

My wife thinks I'm nuts because I was hootin and hollering and pumping my fist after both hits.

In the other NLDS, the Dodgers are up 2-0 on the Diamondbacks.

The Rays are up 2-0 on the Rangers in one ALDS and the Indians and A's are tied 1-1 in the other ALDS.

                    Man I love October baseball.

Nearing the end of August in my Rays franchise. I lost Yunel Escobar to a dislocated shoulder the week prior. Says he will be out 1-2 months which I'm assuming means his season is done. Sean Rodriguez/Logan Forsythe is not going to get it done for me. Fine as spot starters but not every day players. I decided to claim Jimmy Rollins off of trade waivers. The Phillies are way out of it and don't need him any longer. Will definitely give me a strength at shortstop.

If Yunel Escobar happens to come back before the postseason, he's riding the pine. A postseason appearance seems very likely. Currently have the best record in the AL and leading the AL East by 1 game over the Red Sox.

PURE COINCIDENCE....in my Giants franchise we faced the Royals in the World Series...Came back from 3-1 deficit to win the series 4-3. MadBum (2-0) and Posey (MVP) went absolutely crazy. CLUTCH! Just gotta sign Panda now and then I can move Belt back out to LF and Posey over to 1st, while letting Susac take over behind the dish. If I can't resign Panda all that probably goes down the drain and Posey might be going to third which is actually a possibility in real life also. Probably will get rid of Pagan to get rid of some payroll and hand the CF reigns over to Blanco or Gary Brown. The signing of Panda will really key everything tho.

The League Championship Series is set for both AL and NL

                          ALCS

                          Rays vs Indians

                          NLCS

                          Diamondbacks vs Cardinals

The Indians beat the A's in 4 games in one ALDS series while the Rays swept the Rangers in the other.

I swept the Nationals in one NLDS series and the Diamondbacks came back from a 2-0 hole to beat the Dodgers in the other NLDS series.

I do have an issue though. The Dodgers had the best record in the NL but they were beat in the NLDS by the D'Backs. I had the second best record and I beat the Nationals. However, the game has it scheduled that the D'Backs will host the NLCS??? I'm hoping it will fix itself once the series starts, but I doubt it. Hopefully this little quirk can be fixed for next year's game.

Ok, yes I quoted my own post.

In regards to the issue that I mentioned above, it worked itself out. I am hosting the D'Backs in the NLCS. Once I backed out of the schedule screen and went back in, it was correct. So there is no issue.

Now in regards to Game 1 of the NLCS, what a roller coaster ride. We stumbled out of the gate as Wainwright allowed 4 runs in the 1st Inning. But we slowly fought back, getting one back in the 2nd after Taveras came up with 2 on and 2 out. He singled up the middle allowing Molina to come around and make the score 4-1 after 2.

In the 4th, we got one more back after Allen Craig launched his 5th homerun of the postseason into the left center bleachers. Score after 4 innings was 4-2 D'Backs.

We gained back one more in the 6th, after Descalso got a 2 out triple and then Taveras singled to center to make it 4-3 after 6 innings. We blew a lead off double in the 8th by Holiday. Craig flew out to left. Molina singled to left, but I didn't want to send Holiday. So men on the corners with one out and Matt Adams hits into a double play!

But in the 9th, Descalso led off with a single and then my man and NL rookie of the year, Oscar Taveras doubled to left center off of Addison Reed to make it a tie game 4-4 in the 9th. I brought in Chone Figgins to pinch hit for Jason Motte and he flew out to left after failing to get a bunt down twice. Next up is Brett Gardner. After failing to get Taveras to 3rd by bunt, I took a gamble and sent him on the first pitch of the AB and it was a ball in the dirt so Taveras is safe at 3rd! So man at 3rd, one out with Gardner up. Infield comes in and Gardner takes the first pitch he sees after the stolen base, shoots it past 3B/SS for a walkoff hit!

We have won 4 games this postseason and 3 of those, all at Busch, have been won on walk off hits in the 9th. I'm not sure my nerves can take much more.

                              I LOVE October baseball
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Here is an overdue update of my franchise. 76 games into my Braves franchise. 35-41, 13 GB of the 1st place Nats. Who I finally mustard up some wins against. I actually sweep them in the 4 game series... I was 0-6 against them prior that series.

I actually pulled the trigger on trade. The Dodgers had OF Either on the block. I traded C Gattis & OF Schafer for Either. Gattis I couldnt get him going. 4HR 13 RBI thru 54 games. He was also injured for 20 games. Schafer was tricky. I stole 18 bases with him, but I only scored 17 runs with him thru 54 games. All on me, I am the puppet master for my Braves team.

My new lineup looks like this:
                                1. CF Heyward, Runs Created 42.0, avg .315 12HR 23RBI, 19SB, 192B & 63B
                                2. SS And. Simmons avg.280 25K's in over 200 ABs
                                3. 1B Freeman 9HR 30RBI
                                4. RF J-UP 10HR 29RBI and he's heating up. He was very instrumental in the sweep vs. the Nats
                                5. LF Either BA .300, 10HR 36RBI with the AI Dodgers
                                6. 3B Chris Johnson .240 8HR 25RBI
                                7. 2B La Stella, I had him in the #2 slot, but his avg dropped from .295 to .248. His contact is very good
                                8. C Betancort. His time is now!
