When I was a kid, the way I played a baseball game was with a pencil and piece of chalk. I swung the pencil and if the piece of chalk went over the bed it was a home run. I kept score, batting averages, etc. in a notebook.

This is heaven for me, playing baseball with The Show 14, best overall baseball game I ever saw or played. I would like to see more stats shown, and hopefully before I'm 80 years old

And yes, I have pitch speed at 5, and proud of it, and making contact, even getting hits!

That's pretty awesome.. I'm 48 and I did pencil and paper for baseball and golf when I was little. I'd stand pencil up, put finger on eraser until pencil slipped forward and depending how far it went that's how I determined what kind of hit..

I am a pulse DDer but my experience is exactly like yours

I am 18-12 right now with the Nats. My hitting has been on veteran plus for a while, very stable

Pitching wise I will be on all star plus and be getting awesome results, then I got put up to HOF after a shutout by Strasburg and got completely shelled for three straight games. Back to all-star plus and have gone 2-1 but am on verge of getting bumped up again. Wish I could lock it into all star plus. Perfect for me

On HOF I cannt locate a breakimg ball whatsoever no matter who I'm throwing

Exact same for me. I actually got to the point last night where I wanted to shatter my controller pitching on HOF for the game or 2 till I inevitably drop back to all star. Im officially done with dynamic difficulty for pitching. I use it for batting and its good but pitching is staying on all star.

What does it take to bump up to a next difficulty level? I have been on rookie+ with progression at ++++ for ever and have never gotten moved up. Thinking of giving up on DD because my rtts guys is always batting in the high .380s to .400s

You mean for pitching right? I was up to All-Star, and flirting with All-Star++ for like one game. Have spent most of my time on the various Veteran stages. This is with human pitcher control at 1.

I would "pitch" the piece of chalk and swing the pencil. I had various swing types emulating different players, for example, Mickey Mantle and Yogi Berra had distinctive swing types that I did with my pencil. It was lots of fun, just not quite up to The Show

Hm, that almost sounds like a glitch to me. I would think that if you're clearing .350 that'd be guaranteed All-Star level at minimum.

I was 10-4 at one point then lost 6 of 7 getting manhandled. My record is now 16-13 and games have now leveled out, I was up to HOF pitching but went down to veteran after a few rough starts, I'll make it back soon though

Just went through my second round of "foolishly bumped up to HOF after one good start"

Took a no hitter into the ninth with strasburg, gave up a one out single and then pulled him. Gave up two base hits after but won 6-1. Had lost the two games prior to that one.

Next game, HOF pitching, two games in a row I give up 7+ runs. First game back to all-star plus I lose a beautiful game to Oakland 4-3.

All-star plus pitching is,baseball heaven for me. I might have to find ways to force it to stay on that level

So I just got though my 5th game in spring traing has I just got the game on Friday has I have been besy with work and nba playoffs and trying to find a new job any way these are my stats after 5 games or 1 time thought the rotation with default sliders other then pitch speed at 6 and zone hitting pulse pitching.

runs 23 so around 4.5 a game
hits 43 so around 8.5 a game
home runs 7 but 6 of them where in one game
sb 2
walks 4
strikesouts 17 so about 3.5 a game
slugging percentage 460
on base percentage 278
Errors 9
fielding percentage 953

hits allowed 31 so about 6 a game
HR allowed 4
walkes allowed 5
striketouts 45 so 9 a game


Right now my pitching is at vertrian +++ has been for the last few games semeds like it takes a lot to get it up to allstar. My hitting is only at vertrain + yet I am not hitting ever thing like I thought I would. Ether this game is harder on ps4 then ps3 or I am rusty has I havnt played 13 for a while and don't have 14 on ps3 has in the past I would hit to while on vertian. I need to drawl and though for walks witch probly want happened in till I get up to all star. I am now going to put fielder run speed down to 3 has I have been finding a lot off balls hit by me and the computer to be cought and ran down and not really having any going over players heads. After 5 more games I will see if I need to make any more changes or not. I may have to make some change to errors has after 5 games the computer has zero errors and I have 9 but 8 of the 9 are on thowrs.

HOF or higher pitching just gets unrealistic IMO. Computer turns into better than real players and users.

I like Legend hitting with AS pitching.

Hey!!!! Right here with you! The good old TSB (I named it. I can 'acronym' it!)!

I made it a whole 1 and three quarters games on HOF before getting demoted to AS+......again.

So I'm on a 4/2/11/2 waltz with the two difficulty levels.

Beginning to beleive HOF with Classic and Quick Counts plain don't mix. These practically immediate level demotions should not happen like this. They are very very very fast.

Is All-Star+ actually different from regular AS? If so, why can't we select that difficulty other than using DD?

Wishlist item number one for me. I'm with you friend.

And yes, AS+ is harder than AS and I love it!

Alright. I just finished up the massacre. I wanted to elaborate on why I think this see-sawing is happening to me.

As I've said, I use Classic and QC's only. Just to give you an idea, here's my 11 most recent game stats from AS+ :

42 runs allowed
37 BB
12 HR
94 hits allowed

Now my last 4 games on HOF (played two got demoted. Made my way back and played two more and got demoted):

19 runs allowed
22 BB
12 HR
24 hits allowed

Notice how the BB and HR numbers skyrocket on HOF.

Normally, I don't isolate any stats from such small sample sizes. However, in a thread about DD it is relevant because the HOF stats warranted a change in gameplay difficulty according to the game's Dynamic Difficulty rules.

Without actually watching me play the game I'll have to do my best to describe what's happening (at least on my end) to cause the reaccuring difficulty fluctuations.

As soon as I hit HOF, I immediately lose any sense of command over the strike zone, as demonstrated in the numbers above. Thus the extremely high BB stats. In an effort to keep BB's down (because walks are not always an ideal outcome to an at-bat) I'm forcing the ballmarker closer to the middle of the zone. This is causing more hittable pitches which is resulting in the high home run rate.

BB's and HR's reduce confidence which make BB's and HR's more likely.

Releivers are then subbed in to stop the bleeding. However, releivers are also more prone to BB's. Thus more HR's. Thus lower confidence.

All of this is resulting in high OPS and causing DD to recognize I'm being over matched and immediately abandoning ship back to AS+.

I've done this Difficulty song and dance three times now and it's honestly not a lot of fun. This is because AS+ and HOF are very different animals. One I want to stay on (AS+) and the other the game and I agree I'm not good enough for (HOF).

I attribute it all to Classic Pitching and its innate wildness being mixed with Quick Counts and it's (in my opinion...over) abundance of 3-0, 3-1 and 3-2 counts. I'm not claiming to know the answer but this is how I'm seeing it, anyway. Any feedback of course is welcomed.
