    This game isn't other games.

The difficulty will stick, there is no "Custom" level per se.

        Hello guys!

Is it possible to turn off the notifications about your current difficulty level after every inning?

Previously in '13, I had no idea how to work a count, I just did a bunch of free swinging hoping to make contact. QC actually makes me pay more attention to the count, when to swing and when to lay off, and Dynamic Difficulty ensures that I never feel like I'm in over my head.

Seriously, these two additions have made a world of difference so far.
DD,QC, Player Lock, New Intuitive Menu and RTTS improvements are huge features imo. It's really weird that the game has worse review scores than MLB 13. Thankfully, afaik many gamers have stopped taking seriously all these reviewers.

Amazing...im not a big fan of MLB (NHL, NBA, NFL then MLB)...and didnt have MLB video games for ages. Not PS owner only now......and Im glad I changed.

Playing this game with Dynamic difficulty is like teaching me how to swim...easy learning without having to feel that im cheating the game. BEST ADDITION!!!! Great JOB SCEA!!!!

                  Re: Dynamic Difficulty?

The dynamic difficulty is simply an amazing feature. For me I can see that tendancy: I am the worst of hitter still at Rook+ Progress-- , but I am at Veteran +++ for pitching because it's too easy for me.

In real life it would have been very difficult adjusting the sliders that way, and also guessing it. I would have love that the dynamic difficulty would also apply for fielding.

Although I hate the game for the lack of new features in the franchise and aesthetic only rain, that feature alone made the game so much more fun for me. I now play full games, something I didn't do since the last 3-4 years.

Not sure what to think about this feature. I guess I'll just have to try it to see if it works for me. On one hand, I don't like the idea of wasting 10-20 games to get to my "level". On the other hand I love the idea of not dealing with "slideritis" and constantly wondering if I'm playing at the right difficulty level.

What effect does individual and team ratings have on DD? For example, if I play with the Astro's will their stats/win-loss record be realistic or will I be competing for a pennant with them based on a lower DD level. Vice versa a team like the Dodgers.

                      Re: Dynamic Difficulty?

Concept is good I applaud the development team for adding it to the game but I personally don't use it. I don't like the fact that it also decreases difficulty when you play bad. For me I like to challenge myself by manually increasing difficulty and sticking with it until I need to move up again. Currently using All-star pitching and Hall of Fame hitting. But I know my opinion is just that and I do encourage anyone who struggles to find the balance they want to give dynamic difficulty a try. I just happened to find what I like without it.

It's not like you'll blow out every team at the start. Sometimes you'll struggle and sometimes you'll breeze through a game. I went back and forth with the Rays against the Jays last night after having to start all over moving to the PS4 version.

I think early on its more prone to those wild swings between difficulties but as youve played more games and your baseline is established and you have a deeper pool of stats for it to base it on then it tends to stick in the same difficulty for quite awhile regardless if you lose a game or not. I think I read the hitting side of it is based on your OBP which makes sense as early on, with a small sample size, one bad game can cause your OBP to plummet thus telling the game you need to drop a level in terms of difficulty. Im enjoying it at the moment but if it struggles to find a solid baseline for me then Ill just throw Marino's sliders in and run with that, nice to have options though for sure.

That's good to know. Thanks. I'm gonna give it a shot and just play the game. I'm thinking DD my give good variability that is realistic in real baseball. For example, look at the Brewers. Started on fire, damn near unbeatable. Recently however, they've struggled. I think DD might provide that type of realistic variability.

I constantly struggle with difficulty levels/sliders prior to the DD feature as well. Last year I played an Indians franchise. As soon as I started playing well I increased the difficulty level and struggled mightily. I'd like to think I can play better with the Indians then they do in real life but it's a constant back and forth. The game does a pretty good job of capturing streaks and variability with or without DD. I just need to play and not put so much thought into this!!

I asked this same question in the other thread about this and no one really responded I am guessing because they don't know. I would think if it doesn't take into account the team you are playing as you would probably always end up around .500. You'd start winning and it might adjust your difficulty higher and then you start losing and it flips back.

The question is what is the reference for your level ?

If I am playing as a Double-A team versus a MLB team and getting my butt kicked will it adjust difficulty until I can compete with them even though I shouldn't ?

If you continued to play that game over and over, yes, you'd probably eventually reach that point because your OPS should drop significantly with a bad team. It's not going to happen with just one game though (you can only move one level max per game).

It doesn't matter what team you're playing as, the game only looks at your OPS and adjusts the Progress and Difficulty depending on whether it rises or falls.

So for whoever was asking earlier, yes, you could very well end up on a different (lower) dynamic difficulty setting if you played with a team like Houston as opposed to LA. This shouldn't be a big deal though because you're only controlling one team (usually, if you wanted to control two or more you could use different profiles for Dynamic).

For the guys worried about being able to win 75% or more of your games with Houston, I would suggest trying it first and seeing if you still feel that way once you start plateauing for your skill level.
