Re: Next patch?
How would the news of a patch affect you?
Assuming you are actively playing the game. Would you stop playing if they said no patch?
Knowing the if the answer is yes or no, how would your experience with the show change right now?Comment

Re: Next patch?
I'm just curious what really needs to be patched? Are most of you talking about online or offline? I'm an only offliine player for The Show and I haven't really came across anything that makes the game "unplayable". There are some lighting issues, but it doesn't make the game unplayable to me.
I'm really enjoying the game, and even if another patch didn't drop I think it's still one of the best games for this first year of next gen.Comment

Re: Next patch?
I play MLB almost everday, but I would quit playing and sell the game if no patch is coming. It's exactly what I did with NBA2k14 so I wouldn't hesitate with MLB. I understand there will be some issues after release but if the game gets abandoned by the dev, I'll jump ship too.Comment

Re: Next patch?
Hah, except the year they put Obama in Madden for the Super Bowl celebration.Far from a fanboy here, in fact my frustrations with the baserunning controls has stopped me from playing.
What I am however is realistic. You act like they are treating this any differently than they have any other year or that they "owe" you something.
I know it's easy to hide behind the ability to throw out the blanket "you're just a fanboy" statement but sometimes you need to look in the mirror and be realistic.
And comparing to the government is a new one for this site for any game, can't say I'd ever heard that one before.
That got everyone on both sides of the political spectrum going.Comment

Re: Next patch?
My guess is Russell is a big boy and not bothered by a harmless comment on this site. I'm sure he's got more important things to worry about...like a patch announcement
I am surprised how sensitive and defensive some are here. For some to suggest that others should just 'be happy with what they got' and stop asking questions is ridiculous. Why are panties bunching over some negative feedback?Comment

Re: Next patch?
I did not post here to debate how a patch would effect me or if I even want one. I only posted because if just blows me away that we can't get a straight answer. Its just the respectable thing to do.Comment

Re: Next patch?
That would definitely end the speculation, wouldn't it? I bet Russel is enjoying all this chatter somewhere. With that said, this game is the best sports game ever released. I've said this before, it owns my soul every night. I don't understand why people are so upset about this game. SCEA spoils us, probably too much, with all they do for this game. Have faith. I'm sure they will come through like they always do.Comment

Re: Next patch?
Maybe they can't confirm or deny it because they don't know. There's no secrecy.
THEY NEVER SAID THERE WILL NOT BE ANOTHER PATCH. That's all it is - no more, no less. You're trying to make up motive that isn't there.Do it. (Release The Show for PC)Comment

Re: Next patch?
If that is truly the case, and I don't think it is, then I apologize.Comment

Re: Next patch?
And again, they can't confirm for reasons I've already stated regardless of if you want to believe it or not.
I'm 100% positive they are planning another patch. But confirming it would be a mistake in case it doesn't get approved or doesn't go through.
What you seem to not know or maybe don't understand is that getting a patch released isn't solely on them and they don't have total control of if it gets released or not.
Even if the likelihood of it getting released is 99.99% their is no reason to confirm it without full confirmation.Last edited by kehlis; 06-19-2014, 10:03 PM.Comment

Re: Next patch?
Ok fair enough, I don't work in the software industry and don't understand the inner workings. Why would the next patch not get approved, assuming there is one, and why would it not go through?Comment
-
Re: Next patch?
I'll defer this answer to someone who knows more about it than I do because my understanding of the inner workings is solely based on conversations I've had with other devs over the years.
As I understand it, they submit the patch to Sony who tests it to make sure it doesn't "break" anything (I use the term break loosely because I don't know for sure what could cause it).
Sorry I can't be more detailed but I'm sure someone else more in the know than me can probably help out more.
But I do know with 100% certainty that even if they are 100% intent on releasing a patch, it doesn't come with a 100% guarantee that it gets released.
The odds of it NOT being released are probably microscopic but at the same time, that's why it's not safe for them to come here and guarantee a patch is being released.Comment

Re: Next patch?
Kehlis is 100% right, but on top of the various patch protocol issues, you also have to be aware of all sorts of other business-related possibilities that could derail their patch efforts.
Maybe tomorrow SCEA buys another company and commits to a different gaming venture? Maybe a CEO shows up tomorrow and says "surprise, layoffs!" and they no longer have time for another patch this year? Perhaps Microsoft gives them a call and says they will pay SCEA 2 million to release The Show for Xbox before August (as if!)... I could go on, but I think you get the idea.
From a business perspective, it's a terrible idea to ever publicly commit to doing anything. People never ever let it go, and it only does more harm than good. You can't predict the future, so why try to?
That's why when you call a company, any company, and report a problem, you don't hear "we will fix it," you hear "we will investigate." That's why you get vague responses like "We hear your concerns and appreciate your feedback".
Look how completely childish and ridiculous people are being all over this thread, and SCEA hasn't even confirmed anything yet. Imagine the outcry if they promised a patch that never happened, even for the most legitimate of reasons?Comment
