Re: MLB 15 The Show (Community Day Gameplay Q&A Thread)

What about the physics on the home run balls? Any changes noticeable? In '14, the distances tended to cluster around certain values, which is fine, but can you get real massive across-the-street 500 footers in '15? I don't think I ever saw a homer longer than 440 feet in a played game in '14 nor longer than 454 feet in a HR derby. Also, the trajectories seemed to be mainly two types (a really high fly ball and a slightly lower fly ball).

Here is a list of longest taters from 2014 real life:

As you can see from that link, there were many shots longer than 450 feet in 2014 (Junior Lake even hopped on those sticks). Here you can see Trouty20 hit a 489-foot moon rocket (the longest in 2014) "into Bo Jackson territory":

Coverage includes audio and video clips, interviews, statistics, schedules and exclusive stories.

Stanton wasn't far behind at 484 feet and hit a projected 510-footer in the derby. Would like to see a few more wall scrapers and a few more prodigious drives leave the entire park.

Remember any HR distances that you saw?

I don't know how while the influcts thing worked any way. In the past I would just aim my PCI lower if I wanted to try to advoid the double play or higher if I wanted to try to hit a fly ball that way I would be more likely to get under the ball or on top of the ball.

Another question. What about balls hit up the middle being knocked down, caught, or hitting the pitcher? Has it been toned down some? Seems each year it gets better and was wondering if, in your time with game, this is trend continues?

Thank you for answering our questions.

How are the amounts of GIDP? It always seems like there are too many. Did you ground into 1-2 rally killers per game? I led the league by a wide margin in '14 and I heard a lot of similar stories on these here boards. A normal ball club (not filled with 8 Matt Hollidays anyway) should GIDP at a rate lower than 1 per game. I am hoping the new speed paradigm will help this out.

1pg? If your team has Billy Butler, Mike Moustakas and Salvador Perez thats gonna happen once per inning. Or so it felt like last year

Looked it up and the AVG for MLB has been around .74 per game the last 5 years. AL usually higher than NL.

yep, major issue that gets ignored. I lead the league in batting avg and homerooms, yet are 20th in runs, largely because of gidp and hard line drive outs with runners on. No matter how well I hit the ball seems with runners on there us too high percentage of double plays and line drive outs

No biggie as we basically agree.

Usually even the ploddingest team in baseball is even under 1 GIDP per game. I think I doubled up (coincidence there?) the team with the 2nd most GIDP in the season I played.

And before I forget...what about the wind? Did you guys notice any big gusts of wind? Or wind playing a large role? I seem to remember almost every game I played at Wrigley Field in my chise being meager 2 or 3 mph winds. The wind is HUGE for gameplay at the Friendly Confines.

Appreciate you guys continuing to respond back even though you're getting absolutely drilled with questions!

I.e made it harder to strike out.
because in 14 it is damn near impossible to strike out more than 5 times a game.

If you are at the difficulty level you feel fairly comfortable with, I think by far the best way to increase the frequency of being struck out is to adjust your Pitch Speed slider until you start *chasing* pitches you would actually not swing at. Unless you are already playing on Legend with max pitch speed, you should still have some leeway right there.

About this: on a dropped 3rd strike it would be nice to see catchers tag out runners at home plate instead of the batters running like headless chickens to 1st base no matter what

CPU catchers actually do try to tag out runners on dropped third strikes in MLB 15. Sometimes even successfully. It brought tears to my eyes when I actually saw it.

Might even forgive the dumb decision regarding the analog controls for this change. It always bugged me. Don't think Big Papi ever tried to run on dropped 3rd strike when the ball stayed in front of the catcher. Great news

Yes, the way things have changed with Analog unfortunately is a bit uncharacteristic of how SCEA has dealt with introducing changes in the past... I did not expect such a drastic change either.
